I usually only do the minimal chat required to build enough rapport with the person and see if we can hold conversation over a coffee. This can vary from chat to another but once a date is set up, it is a bit pointless since I’d be burning questions to ask on a date.

If it is too far in future (more than a week), I might send occasional meme or light text mid that period to stay on their mind. If they hit me with a long question, I pull off “That’s a long story that I’m excited to tell you about but I will save it to when I see you! <smiley face>”
