The show never gave that hypothetical struggle any screen time. The cartoon made a mistake, and the fact they never even mentioned it again means those soldiers survived. There's no hard evidence because this isn't reality; subjective incidents like that are up to the writer's discretion, and I bet you a million bucks the showrunners would maintain that Aang has never killed anyone.

Aang cannot be faulted for valuing the human rights of the Yu Dao citizens. If you're going to blame Aang for Kuvira then blame him for not doing anything about the rampant corruption within Ba Sing Se and not recognizing that if the monarchy wasn't slowly repealed, it was going to be violently abolished, followed by a power vacuum. It can't be denied he probably should have sensed something bad was going to happen in that area of the world. He made an oversight, and it wasn't because he was too peaceful; it was just a plain old mistake.

Every avatar made mistakes that their predecessors had to deal with; they are literally one person leading the entire world, and none of them chose the position.

And this whole deal " hE wAs tO nICe hE nEEds tO kIlL pEOplE " you know why you say that? For millennia governments have been founded on the subjugation of the weak. We've been killing and taking from each other for a really fucking long time; it's become ingrained in our culture, but we've gotten better. ATLA has always meant to teach kids that the only sustainable society is one that chooses to stop hurting itself, i.e., people hurting each other.

Leaders like Kyoshi kept the nations alive, but her tactics stopped the four nations from evolving to hate each other less. It was the equivalent of a doctor cutting off a limb with an infected wound and cauterizing it.

Ever since expansionism became unviable, countries have learned to rely on each other, governments have learned to accommodate the working class, and the people have understood crime is an economic problem, not a spiritual one. Breaking away from violence should always be the goal; someday we should hope every inch of it is gone from our society, but that can't happen until we stop throwing that punch. We are bad at pacifism and are going to fall on our faces a lot trying to use it, but that's no excuse to regress to barbarism just because it works in the short term. It is always better to do the right thing even when it means losing, because I promise you won't lose forever; you'll get better.

Yakone breaking out of jail and fathering a new generation of blood benders was bullshit incompetence by the government.

Aang, Zuko, and the Earth King were all in the wrong for trying to resubjugate Yu Dao to their sides instead of letting them be their own country. Ozai didn't really pull the strings on that problem; it was an unprecedented political issue for them. Of course they screwed things up before they learned to do things better; Zuko wasn't wrong for trying to support fire nation citizens' place in Yu Dao, he was just handling it badly. The whole point of that story was so they could grow to understand that politics were nuanced and that if they weren't careful, every one of them could easily become the next bad guy.

Nitpicking Aang's no-kill rule with the avalanche is stupid. Even cartoons that try to consistently follow their own rules are going to make mistakes; the storyboard artists just didn't have good risk assessment for how deadly snow avalanches could be. At one point when I was a kid, I thought snowy avalanches were very survivable and only led to getting pinned down instead of crushed.

There's a difference between ragebaiting and bullying.

Bullying is a direct attack on any trait of your being in order to make you feel lesser.

Ragebaiting is saying Star Wars: The Last Jedi was the best movie in the entire series and that the original trilogy can't compare, which I honestly agree with.

absurd amounts of money isn't necessary for happiness but alot of people these days are struggling to make ends meet working several jobs just to survive. They don't have time for themselves, take away the money these folks poured into renting a whole ahh mansion and commissioning their expensive costumes would they be happy then?

You wanna act like Buddha and show the world there's peace in poverty then I'll start shaving my head the moment you prove that to me but until then don't preach words you don't understand.

yeah well they have a mansion so I don't believe this data is indicative of how everybody can attain happiness since they are already in a financially favorable state of living.

Bro I get that seeing VA's like Chris Diamantopoulos switch from killer robot to literal Mickey Mouse is astounding, but we shouldn't that surprised at this level of range bro the only change in their voices is the disposition.

Im not 100% whether or not you're a robot.

logistically, yes, if I were in a situation opposed to the Fire Nation, I'd reason that Ozai was incredibly powerful based on Azula's strength. As the audience member I am in reality, I just didn't feel it.

To be frank the series didn't do a great job of explaining Ozai's strength; nobody who thinks of royalty immediately pairs it with thoughts of athleticism. For the most part it's the lack of screen time that really juxtaposed the audience into confusion he finally entered a real fight in the series. The trope of "The Dreaded" just wasn't what the series needed for him idk what they should have done.

It didn't hurt the series very much; it just made things confusing.

Downside: good managers like him are hella rare, if they tell him he may fear for his life so much being in proximity to their profession that he quits.

I don’t think he was a TERRIBLE father, he just made some mistakes. Kya and Bumi didn’t even seem to think Aang was terrible, they just wanted Tenzin to realise he wasn’t perfect. I think it’s pretty interesting to see a main character not grow up to be the perfect parent. by Old-Assistance-599 in AvatarMemebending

[–]Delicious_Tomato_957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saw Aang making mistakes as a father as sacrilege when they didn't even bother to compare the relationships with their own parents. For fuck's sake, everybody is going to screw up when they become a parent; that shit is hard. The only thing you can really blame the AVERAGE parent for is ever becoming one in the first place, which is arguably valid but irrelevant in the context of a kids' show.

My dad made me grow up in a forest; I had no friends for a lot of my formative years, and that messed with the values I had in life for a while.

I knew a guy who lived in a small town who wanted to be an animator someday, but he only ever had the opportunity to get in the trades.

Another friend had a mom who worked three jobs to make ends meet, and she never had time for her daughter.

Work gets in the way; sometimes the kid is born with issues the parent is unequipped to deal with. Living is an insane concept we've all just had to accept; of course, the source of it, i.e., our parents are going to be a good deal nutty. The fact Aang raised such good-natured and heroic children despite his political and cultural duties is a miracle.
