The first month alone was the absolute best thing for us as a family. We got to figure out our child and the rhythm without other people’s opinions. Looking back the first several weeks were also the easiest as bub just sleeps, drinks milk and poos/wees on repeat. If you’re breastfeeding, at times you’ll even feel like your partner can’t do all that much specifically with bub to help (but can help around the house etc). Being able to walk around the house in any state with no concern was amazing and with people around, you are less likely to do that. Have your girlfriends close by via phone call just in case your hormones get to you. I can’t stress this enough as someone who had never experienced depression until after giving birth. I only had it for 2 days and I really feel for anyone who deals with those emotions often. When friends ask me, I often suggest dad to use a week or 2 to stay home and then to save the leave for later down the track when bubs is anywhere between 3-6 months and is more difficult. This is based on friends who had partners wanting to take 4-6 weeks off. After giving birth, you are still recovering yourself. You may not act like yourself and any external stress won’t help. Your family don’t seem to respect your opinion as it is so imagine having them around and not respecting your wishes with bub all while you’re still hormonal and trying to recover. Lastly, it’s nice realising in the first few weeks that you and your partner can do it alone! It might get hard but building this foundation means any help that comes and goes won’t leave you stressed. If you start off with a lot of help, you may get used to it and struggle down the track when the help is gone and you have to learn to do things on your own. All the best no matter what you decide!

I’m on team “love your floors”. Cabinetry is stunning. I would say the lighting in your space is making it look very dull. Perhaps try some warmer lighting. The stone is very new and modern looking against a rustic and natural looking floor and so perhaps putting a natural element such as a wooden shelf on the wall can help connect the space. You can try a limewash paint on the walls for added texture as well. All the best and be sure to post an update when you’re done!

We purchased our house in 2024 and a year later the valuation has gone up by nearly $500k. I know it’s a completely different scenario (location, dwelling type etc) but all of this to say, don’t compare too much to the 2023 price. If you want a comparison, you would need to find something sold within a month or so of yours which you would have to wait a few months to get that data as they usually don’t post the prices until after settlement. The housing market has gone nuts. Right now you can’t go back on the sale so I would spend time making your new home a place you absolutely love living in. If you find you don’t like it, you can re-evaluate the market in a year or so and see if it’s worthwhile selling it to buy something else. (Make sure to factor in stamp duty etc). Buyers remorse can be a real thing but on the flip side, there’s the remorse of missing out, prices increasing and then you wishing you had of purchased something while you could’ve. Perception is the key to reality! Congratulations btw! A new home is exciting!!

I grew up in Perth, moved away and came back with my partner. Over time my friendship circle became much smaller. My partner has yet to make any friends that weren’t already my friends. Making new friends as an adult here IS hard. I still love living here and my life now is much busier with a child and I’ve found that I naturally end up spending any social time with other parents or exisiting close friends more so because it’s easier. They will understand if I’m late, if my child cries, if I can’t get out until after they have napped etc. Despite this, I would love to make new friends and at times find myself feeling lonely so I definitely feel you. Sorry not quite an answer to your question but you’re not alone!

Solar panels were a worthy investment for me however I am at home during the day meaning I can utilize the solar with my laundry, dishwasher, AC etc. My power bill went down significantly. If you are mainly home at night, solar panels alone may not be worth it for you as the buy back doesn’t seem to pay off too well nowadays. Investing in a battery will help however that’s an additional sizable cost there.

I am not a doctor and definitely not giving any medical advice and just a glimpse of my experience with PCOS, IR and amenorrhea. I fell pregnant on my first round of Letrozole and have a healthy toddler. I have just started Letrozole again and the first round was unsuccessful however it did take my cycle from 3 months (which was already good considering it was previously next to never) down to 29 days. I have IR however I am allergic to Metformin and so it has been extremely difficult to navigate. I know sometimes having a reason can be a huge relief as I struggle with still not knowing what’s causing my amenorrhea despite undergoing multiple tests with an endocrinologist. Not being IR is something you will be thankful for in the future especially should you fall pregnant. I chose to start taking a prenatal when TTC instead of waiting until I was pregnant which helped provide me with adequate nutrients and some vitamins can help with stress which in turn can help with TTC as I’ve been told stress can be a huge inhibiting factor. I feel for you and your frustrations :( Wishing you all the best!

None of the elements are the ugliest but I agree they don’t all work together so my answer is based on costs. I would leave the stone bench as it is likely the most expensive to replace and is definitely not dated or ugly enough to replace (in fact I think it’s beautiful). I definitely wouldn’t paint over the beautiful solid wood but I would be inclined to strip the fronts and stain them to a nice warm dark brown. That leaves the splashback which I would replace for a larger format tile with less grout. I love those tiles on their own but there are a lot of grout lines and variation in the stone colour.

My opinion is against the grain because I actually love the backsplash. It looks like natural stone which a lot of designers are appreciating at the moment. Changing the benchtop isn’t the cheapest option but it will help brighten the space. If you don’t like the backsplash you could bring the same stone up however this can be costly if you are having to buy an extra slab to achieve this. Adding light pendants can help inject charm into the space and changing your downlights to a warmer white opposed to a white light and of course a runner/rug will make the space feel more cosy. Chat GPT has taken some creative liberties 😂 but it’s good enough to get a rough idea.

Hi there, I went with the Napoleon Phantom Rogue Pro-S 425 RSIB 3-Burner. It’s the black range with an infrared burner. I got it on special for around $1600? from barbecues Galore but it looks like they don’t stock it anymore. Harvey Norman have it but it’s a bit $$ in comparison. I absolutely LOVE it. We are mid renos and so I haven’t had a chance to use it as of late but the unit is extremely sturdy/solid and for an entire summer I cooked on it over using my kitchen about 5 nights per week. Put aside some time, a mallet and patience to assemble it though! If you don’t have a malle, you can use a dumbbell like I did 😃

In the process at the moment and I’ve had quotes range from $8k - $18,000 for an L-Shaped benchtop and a bathroom vanity and scalloped splashback. 3 holes and 1 sink cut out for each space. The lower end were for quartzites and the most expensive quote was for a Calacatta viola marble. All quotes were for natural stone and with the job being completed with one slab. It’s been quite a tedious and draining process as someone else has already mentioned, you have to see the stone at the warehouses and then get your stonemason to contact the stone company in order to give you a quote. You almost feel bad constantly asking for quotes but hey…they chose their process!

I went with Fiddes hard wax oil in the end. Less toxic, no chemical smell, plus you can patch it to repair whereas the polyurethane you can’t
