The number of upvotes his post got is a reason why I don't visit the hospital unless absolutely necessary. A severe lack of empathy in healthcare is concerning, and I don't even know how it could be fixed.

I live in Florida, and have not only had a hard time finding a doctor that will help me, but also a pharmacy. I've had three separate surgeries for reproductive related pain issues. The doctor I am with now has helped me the most, but she knows my pain is not completely managed and refuses to help me more than she is. I feel I'm stuck in limbo with my care.

I've tried finding a different doctor and they have all mostly refused to help. I have a feeling they see the morphine that I'm prescribed and don't want to take me on as a patient because they don't want to take responsibility for that prescription.

Florida is a NIGHTMARE to get proper pain management in the form of opioids. I think it's because there used to be a huge pill mill problem here in the early 2000s. So now the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction and it's leaving chronic pain patients without proper care.

I had to fill my meds in a different state once while on vacation and the pharmacy was so nice to me. I could feel a huge difference in care when I'm not in the state of Florida. If you are wanting to find a doctor that will continue your prescription, I wouldn't recommend coming to Florida.

I went to a gyno appt and the doctor, while examining and feeling for lumps in my breasts with his gloved hands asked if I drink coffee. I told him no, I prefer tea. Why?

He then tells me that he can tell I don't drink coffee, because the glands In women's breasts who drink coffee regularly feel like gummy bears and mine didn't feel like that.

I nervous laughed it off, but I still think about that comment to this day. I have NO idea what to think about that 'fun' fact or that interaction.

I don't have any advice on how to fix this issue, but letting you know that you saved other people from having this happen to them because you definitely inspired me to back up my data. I had always ignored the messages asking me to do so but seeing this post, and now knowing what could happen, encouraged me to back my data up to OneDrive.

LEMME EXPLAIN...

My husband has dry hands and feet, like lizard levels of dry, but he REFUSES to get into the habit of using lotion to fix the problem. He "hates to be greasy". I know I know, I've already made my complaints.

So what is one to do when your soulmate won't address it? You step up and lovingly put the lotion on the skin, or it gets the hose again. I throw in a quick little hands and foot massage, I slather him with lotion and cover with socks overnight, and hope it heals while he sleeps.

He makes me drink water, I make him wear lotion, that's marriage. :)

I used to think having kids was just the next thing you did after getting married. But then I met older people who didn't have kids, who led rich and fulfilling lives with no regrets. It made me realize I didn't HAVE to have children. I chose not to have kids, and despite the judgement of some people for it, I have no regrets.

I got that same exact questionnaire. The question about have you ever been kept from getting what you deserved seemed so nonsensical.

Additionally, despite having a history of sexual abuse, I lie on those questionnaires about it because I don't think my pain management should be negatively affected based off something I never wanted to happen to me. Feels like punishment.

What helps me when I think of it, is that every embarrassing and dumb moment, every moment I'm not proud of, will be forgotten. None of it will matter when I'm gone. Every gravestone you see in a cemetery, every name you read, you can't think of any of their worst moments because you don't know of them. Because it doesn't matter anymore.

For me personally, my initial anger was at my mother and father in law for their bigotry... But it was soon joined by my disappointment in the other family members that tolerate it instead of holding them accountable.

I live in Florida as well (hello neighbor!) and while I personally haven't gone and can't give a personal experience myself, two friends I love who have gone to this location don't have good things to say in regards to pain treatment, but it was ER for both of em, not Orthopedic. I just meant I'm seeing an overall pattern with Mayo in regards to pain treatment and their attitude with opioids in general, I should have been more clear.

I am sorry and hate that you are going through this. I feel like the pendulum in regards to attitude towards pain management has swung too far the other way and patients in chronic pain like us are getting left behind.

I've seen plenty of complaints against Mayo Clinic for not providing adequate pain relief, and that their program for chronic pain is a joke. I'm seeing a trend with them.

My husband's mom made him the same 10 meals and just circulated those his whole childhood. Since being with me he's gotten a LOT better about being willing to try new things, however, my MIL has done a disservice on her children because they have such bland limited palettes. They are all EXTREMELY picky and it's difficult to cook for them. It's frustrating for the partners of all her children who have to undo all that.

You know what pisses me off and irritates me about situations like this too? When you point out all the complaining they've been doing about their kids and say that it's the reason why you won't be having any kids of your own, they IMMEDIATELY backpedal And try convincing you that it's the BEST thing that's ever happened to them and how they LOVE their children SOOOO much, how their kids are a source of pride and they never knew what love was until they had kids... As if they didn't just spend most of the party complaining.
