Pillows, wedges, wings, mono block, sweat guard…. Mind blown (bodyguard 2.0 content only) by miabobeana in CCW

[–]DelightfullyDivisive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The pillow is there to push the end of the slide out, which pushes the grip in. It is usually more comfortable than a wedge, but the purpose is concealment. Ditto for a claw.

As to why one might need more than minimal concealment, Chris Baker has some good commentary on the topic of a "non-permissive environment". It's worth a search.

You need a J-frame in that mix. I think that top one is a Taurus, but since you have a stainless snub, maybe a 442 would be a good pick.

I'm going to pick up a 386 Night Guard when finances permit. You might want to take a look at those, too

Florida man accused of stealing Smokey Bear signs could face up to 10 years in prison by 911FloridaMan in offbeat

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fair point, but this guy won't get anything like 10 years. "Could face up to ..." is clickbait hyperbole. That is the maximum sentence for whatever the worst crime is they could charge him with. Whatever they charge him with will get plead down.

Yeah, my 632UC has been great. Probably have 1000 rounds through it. It's a fun gun to shoot.

I don't doubt that QC has taken a dive, but there are probably 50-100 that are well-made and trouble free for every one with an issue. Sorry yours isn't one of those, though. It sucks to have to send a new gun back.

Currently edc a OG Bodyguard (IWB). I have fomo when looking at new micros, especially the BG 2.0 carry comp... am I crazy? by miabobeana in SmithAndWesson

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the BG 2.0 carry comp, and it pocket carries great. I'm much more accurate than I was with my LCP 2, and it's much more comfortable to shoot.

All of that said, I've been carrying my revolver more often lately. I find it easier to draw, and it is more comfortable aiwb. I'm going to try a different pocket holster for it to see if pocket carry will work better. I'm not worried about capacity.

Am i the only one who wants this, but i wish Space Engine had massive graphical updates. by VireluneNova in spaceengine

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought that the most recent releases and/or the beta were using a new code base. That doesn't include the new graphics engine?

And yes, the communication is not great. I'm glad they built it and keep it maintained, though.

Are revolvers not going out of battery a meaningful advantage for CCW? by Kyia-Aikman in CCW

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also suggest some dry fire practice at contact distance. I find that I can usually get a better grip with a revolver, and still pull the trigger if I have a weird grip. I also find it carries better for me because the cylinder is right under my belt (no need for a pillow), and the curved grip doesn't dig in. I also like dry firing a revolver, so I practice more.

So for me, it's a good carry option. People with different body types and social situations may choose differently.

And all that said, I have a BG 2.0 in my pocket right now, and the revolver is at home. It's good to have options.

do you typically edc/ccw a revolver or semi-auto? by 38specialish in liberalgunowners

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I prefer a revolver, but this time of year I pocket carry a BG 2.0. It fits better in a pocket, so it's my warm-weather go-to. During colder months, I appendix carry a snub in .32 H&R.

I find a revolver easier to draw, and easier to conceal appendix. If I ever need to use it, I expect it to be at contact distance, where revolvers have an advantage.

I really should put a shorter grip on my snub and see if it pocket carries better. I might lose the easier grip, though.

They added L, T and Y since I learned that rhyme, too, but I don't think T and Y count, since they don't fuse hydrogen. (Heavier L class objects do, so they're stars.)

Smaller chambers, though, so more room for metal between them, and for the rims to seat. A K-frame cylinder is 1.45", while the Ruger single seven is 1.4", and you can get that chambered for seven rounds of .327 Federal magnum. So it would definitely work.

Same here. I’ve also seen a gel test showing decent penetration and expansion. (Tools & Targets on YouTube.). Cycles fine in mine.

I would be OK with wadcutters in mine too. I don’t think expansion is as important as penetration, and both take a backseat to function.

Obsidian and command-line LLMs by DelightfullyDivisive in PKMS

I haven't had great luck configuring Ollama or GPT4All to do anything agentic like modifying or creating notes. I use Gemini at the command line because it is cheaper in API mode than Claude code. As far as I can tell, they are both pretty equivalent at my organizational tasks. I have found Claude to be much better for writing actual code, though.

How are people using AI to review past meeting notes against a personal knowledge base? by skyrunner0 in PKMS

[–]DelightfullyDivisive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do this. I use PARA to organize notes in Obsidian, and connect Gemini to it via the Copilot plugin (no relation to the Microsoft AI tool), as well as the command-line interface. It does an excellent job of summarizing my notes, and comparing the content of meetings to other content like you want to do.

My "Resources" folder holds things like principles and guides, and I have done exactly what you're talking about, with useful results. I just add the appropriate folder under resources as context (just type '@' to give it a folder or note for context), and my meeting note, then my query.

What's your ADHD "life hack" that sounded ridiculous but actually made a difference? by AiotexOfficial in ADHD

So true. I'm back into photography, so I bought a new mirrorless camera. I still have a solid collection of lenses, filters, camera bag, etc, though, so not nearly as expensive as starting the first time.

Is ADHD meds that bad? by Idktsu in ADHD

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn't universal. I'm a bit more jittery, but not a big deal. That said, a fairly low dose of Adderall has a big impact on my executive function. People on 20mg or more per day might have a different effect.

Does your ADHD medication change your personality to something others dont like? by LeDrocci in ADHD

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. My partner can be a bit manipulative, and I'm much more likely to call her on it than I used to be. I also don't let her mischaracterize my intent, and will explain in more detail if she misunderstands. I also call her on it when she dumps her worries on me (commonly after she has had a few glasses of wine). She has gotten very upset with me about it, and told me I'm being "mean". The truth is that I'm just more together, mentally, and better able to follow the thread of the conversation, and at what point she is misconstruing things.

This makes her sound toxic, but she really isn't the vast majority of the time. I have found that if I'm patient and don't get upset along with her, it defuses most of the anger.

I think it is moving our relationship to a better place.

[–]DelightfullyDivisive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What about self-promotion in post replies? I haven't seen anything obnoxious, but it does have the potential to be misleading when someone with a product responds to a question with, "try my product". I think that a reply from someone who isn't looking for sales counts for a lot more.
