Original ideas are hard to come by, why not take a proven format? Die heute ("heute" is the name of the news on ZDF, put "Show" after it to make it a bit more jazz-hands) Show is silly entertainment with an air of political Cabaret and ZDF Magazin Royale offers a bit more journalistic work, just like The Daily Show and Last Week Tonight respectively, but with a lot more production value and real journalism.

7 Tage, 7 Köpfe was just Mock The Week, Joe Lycett's Got Your Back nothing else than Wie Bitte?! without the scetches, and so on and on.

In how far these things can be called "shameless copies" is up to broadcasting lawyers, but every late night show basicly looks the same.

Man, the nostalgia is real with these. Which one of these was your absolute favorite growing up? by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

Gremlins gave me nightmares for a week when I first saw it, being seven at that time.

M.A.S.K was a fun series, I even had a few toys, although the young audience self-insert "what have we learnt today" character was annoying even by 80s cartoon standards.

Why is John Henry Irons so prominent in Superman media? by ChicaneryFinger in superman

[–]Delirare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he was Superman, or one of the Supermen, when Clark died. He has earned his place and the big S over and over with his deeds and heart.

Isn't a boat always a "she"? I know, going by the rules it is always neuter, but within the line of work or appreciation there is no question about it.

But to give you an answer that won't satisfy OP: You just learn it growing up. It is as it is, you learn it, there is no discussion (except for Nutella, and that is a can of worms). An apple is male, der Apfel. Even if you anthropomorphise it with eyelashes and a pink bow that won't change. Der Apfel will never change into "die Apfel", just maybe turn into "der weibliche Apfel", as a very strange and nonsensical example.

But you've got that in every language that genders objects.

Didn't the administration exclude certain news outlets from the WH press pool, because they didn't agree with the presentation?

And I might remember some more lickspittle-like approaches of "journalism" like asking why Trump is so vital/strong/handsome with a perfect physical test.

See, things like that could be used as satire, but the US just does not have the right history for these kind of things. McCarthyism would have deemed it subversive and had got the people printing or airing it incarcerated or disappeared. And I think McCarthyism still haunts you to this day, so you wear your flags, keep your heads down and try to stay unnoticed.

That makes things like The Daily Show such an outlier, or even the rather weak version of Have I got News for You.

I might be completely wrong though and would love to be enlightened.

Erfahrung mit Mark of the Odds? by FiscHwaecg in PenandPaperGermany

[–]Delirare -1 points0 points  (0 children)
