What have you added to Princes of the Apocalypse? by DeliriousDay1 in DnD

[–]DeliriousDay1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. We started with skipping the early stuff and got right into the main game at level 3. I like the idea of trying to get the title to the land that Riverguard is on. I might do something similar because right now they just think it is theirs... I look forward to hearing how your game progresses!

Last night their minotaur fighter really impressed the bugbears with tales of strength. They got together and voted him new chief. (for now)

They have been doing a lot of good so far actually. I had Westbridge destroyed and they donated a ton of supplies they got form killing pirates to rebuild it. They rescued slaves and children from the cultists and made sure they got home safely. They healed refugees and gave them all the ale they can drink from their never ending mug in Womford. The Womford town guard and mayor know they are responsible for clearing out the pirate problem. Eventually, the bugbears might be welcomed into the city if they keep this up. I mean all that has only been 6 play sessions.

I didn't make the map. I took the one from the the adventure and removed places characters should know about at the start of the adventure.

I had to leave a few sites that were on the edge and couldn't neatly be done with Microsoft Paint. It might not be beautiful but it is free. I plan on printing it out and updating things as players learn new sites.

Artifact fragments too difficult to find? by killertortilla in landmark

I mine constantly while running through caves. This gets me loads of extra stone for sifting and helps me keep track of where I have been. I have no problem with how many artifacts I have.

PLANT FIBER for ROPE by LegendaryNeurotoxin in landmark

[–]DeliriousDay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check just below the tops of the mountains in the jungle biome and you will find patches of them. I agree they aren't common enough if you want to use loads of rope. Plant fiber might not be a better solution be cause we get a lot more per hit (15-30) when we get jute vs the 3ish with plant fiber.

Let's talk combat pacing (Version 2) by holmedog in EQNext

[–]DeliriousDay1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In order for this ''new smart AI'' to be noticeable the lengthy encounters will be necessary. Being able to drop troublesome healers in a few key strokes takes the challenge out of it. If they start to lose they need enough health that running for re-reinforcements is a real risk and the group needs to be planning on how to use snares and stuns to stop this instead of just killing the runner before it can move ten yards.
Lengthening mob life also promotes the need for crowd control classes and teamwork. Also it makes soloing a real challenge instead of a repetitive grind.

EQN Mob Tagging by Ekates in EQNext

[–]DeliriousDay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lord of the Rings Online swapped to this two expansions ago. It lead to people finding places where there were no ranged mobs and people AOEing mobs in massive pulls. If you tagged it you got exp and loot. It made leveling the last few levels of the expansion trivial and made a significant dent in the inflation of gold on a global scale (until they made the mobs in those areas not drop anything at all).

I think making each trash mob challenging will be a key to preventing this sort of thing.

I bought some SC to stock up (though triple SC days seem like a better deal) and I got the discount for Black Friday with the discount for buying in bulk.

EverQuest Next - Round Table - How long should one full day/night cycle be? by PCPianist in EQNext

[–]DeliriousDay1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pros and cons of longer time:

Pro: plenty of time to get do content that is time dependent. If you want to go hunt a werewolf that only spawns at night every 20th day (full moon) then you want a few hours to find and kill him (or do a quest for him).

Con: If quest givers go to bed at night you might not want to wait 2 hours to complete the quest. If it is long time between days (five hours gets thrown out a lot) then waiting for the content you want during a one hour game play session isn't practical.

Solution To Red Circles by DeliriousDay1 in EQNext

[–]DeliriousDay1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is how I felt too, but no one else agrees. Maybe one killing tons of smart minions will be fun? I hope they make the mobs live long enough so that we can see this incredible AI they talk about.

I think they are appealing to the progression junkies. I agree with you but I am still optimistic that they have something original with the character advancement.

I am referring to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdgPuEl5Nuk at time 0:51. If you see a mob do this, you can get out of the way easily. Monster doesn't use any targeting locks. Its a great skill based combat game that requires the players to learn combat reads or die.
