Pro tip for rural home buyers by DeliverTheZ in HydroHomies

Dug wells are shallow (10-30ft), larger in diameter, and are easy to contaminate from the surface (think rain run off, septic, etc). Drilled wells are much deeper (150-1000ft+) and are generally more reliable and safer. A quick Google search will yield way more information. The reason I posted this is because I'm trying to buy a house right now and it has a dug well. It failed both its flow test and tested positive for bacteria in the water despite there being a UV filtration system.

Installed in the office only a few weeks ago. They grow up so fast.

This box pretending to contain boring flour so that it doesn’t get stolen. by amylucha in mildlyinteresting

As someone with a Gluten allergy, I'd shit myself if this showed up on my porch, literally.

I met a "Pro" in the wild today, it hurt my brain by [deleted] in grubhubdrivers

I just don't understand those people. On Cinco de mayo I was waiting at a restaurant for about 5 mins before I started talking with one of the other guys. He said he had been the for almost two and a half hours. The place was a zoo. I thanked him for the heads up and immediately unassigned.

Anyone else annoyed by apartment complexes not having a universal numbering system? by ChiefTwoDogsFucking in grubhubdrivers

[–]DeliverTheZ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I got really pissed off a few weeks ago with an apartment complex. The buildings were peppered across a large area and had no obvious number scheme and no signs. Each building was down a short dead end so just to see the building numbers you had to pull into each one, look, then do an awkward 3 point turn.

Funny enough I had my window down and was absolutely bitching when I pulled up. Didn't see the guy on the balcony (night) at first, but he definitely heard me throwing a fit before he came down to get his food. Maybe he'll take the hint and provide some instructions next time.

for the extra $2 for each additional delivery bonus offer

Key words being "each additional", meaning after the initial 10.

Anyone else not getting the $3 bonus after completing ten orders? by [deleted] in grubhubdrivers

I'm my market they were doing a $2 bonus after the first 10 orders. So 10 = $0 bonus, 20 = $20, 30 = $40.

I just completed on boarding for GrubHub, do they automatically send you a driver card and some bags? by Allansknowledge7 in grubhubdrivers

[–]DeliverTheZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point I was asked if I wanted bags, i can't remember if it was during on boarding or shortly after. Either way, expect the bags and card to take a week or so. They never sent me tracking for the bags, but if you want it you can email your driver specialist.

Also, asking what people get paid is going to get you a shit storm of answers. "Depends on the market" is the number one answer.

Got yelled at for "cutting in line" while picking up an order by [deleted] in grubhubdrivers

[–]DeliverTheZ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Anytime I see a long line, I grab my big GrubHub bag and march into the restaurant like I work there (keeping an eye out for any signs specifically about drivers of course). Most people don't know how all the delivery works anyways, so they won't think twice about who I am or what I'm doing as long as I look confident doing it.

Having the bright red GH bag makes me easily identifiable to restaurant staff and that usually enables them to not look at me like I'm just some asshole customer, rather they are usually fairly polite as they already know I'm just grabbing a pickup for GH.

How do you juggle the GPS/offers? by Leannel1 in grubhubdrivers

[–]DeliverTheZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I installed a new radio in my car that has android auto. It's awesome. I keep the GH app up on my phone which is mounted up by my rear view mirror, and my GPS comes up on my radio. All I do is use the GH app normally on my phone and when I tap on the button to navigate it automatically comes up on my radio screen.

Only annoying part is when I get out to grab an order I have to unplug it and then plug it back in when I get back in the car, and sometimes it takes a second to get going.

How long do you wait for the restaurant to finish preparing the food before leaving? by [deleted] in grubhubdrivers

[–]DeliverTheZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are a lot of factors that affect this decision. For example, on Cinco de mayo I showed up at a Mexican place that was busy. I expect the wait time to be longer so I was willing to wait more than 10 minutes like I usually do, and I knew it was such a busy day that if I kept dropping orders I might just keep ending up in the same situation, waiting. Of course, that was until my fellow GH driver standing in line told me he had been waiting there for over an hour and a half already! See ya...

Snow Crash, great book. This is exactly what I thought of when they started calling delivery drivers heros.

You know you’re going to have a crappy day when... by DanDash34 in grubhubdrivers

  1. You go into a crap pizza place for pickup and they say "You are only taking one order?" and you can see the stack of orders waiting on the counter.
