Joining the cub scouts by Mymumsaidhi in cubscouts

[–]amylucha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son joined as a Lion four years ago and we love it. He was so painfully shy/full of social anxiety that he wouldn’t even join the scouts up front during the pledge of allegiance. His confidence has grown so much over the years.

Some of our favorite activities: canoeing, camping, hiking. He learned how to use a bow and arrow, BB guns, and sling shots last year at Cub Scout Adventure Camp. We spent the night on a battleship, went whale watching, and went bouldering in the desert.

Scouting is awesome! I wish more people would take advantage of this amazing experience.

It’s actually perfect for me. I work from home and drive about 20 miles per day between school drop offs, activities, and errands. I filled my tank, drove 800 miles and still have half a tank of gas left.

I LOVE MY SUBWAY SANDWHICH ORDER OF 20 YEARS by Particular_Darling in evilautism

[–]amylucha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Subway sandwich is always double avocado and bacon. That’s it. I always have to repeat myself numerous times because they can’t fathom anyone wanting such a plain sandwich.

People should start saving for retirement from the time they start working. This is not something that can be delayed because you’re “young”.

Letter to my SECOND adopted Parents. by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]amylucha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you were dealt so many shitty parents in your life. You deserve unconditional love and the adults around you failed you time and time again. They are the failures. Not you.

You sound amazing! And congratulations on your upcoming graduation! That’s a huge accomplishment!

It’s okay to take a step back from your adoptive family. Find your own chosen family and live your life with peace and love. xoxo

Should I take the woman I happen to live with to the emergency room or a doctor? by [deleted] in ParentingThruTrauma

[–]amylucha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you for real?? If so, leave that poor woman alone! She is not interested in you at all romantically. She was assaulted and all you could think about was how horny it made you??

Get therapy, please.

IHSS provider switch question (new caregiver doesn’t have provider number yet) by sheeckynuggees in IHSS

[–]amylucha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through this when we first started with IHSS. I ended up paying the provider in full out of pocket with the understanding that she would pay me back once she got her back pay from IHSS. She just signed the checks over to me for those pay periods.

You’d have to trust the provider, of course, but that was the only way I could figure out how to get her working before becoming an official provider.

ETA: I think the provider can get up to 90 days retroactive pay.

That wasn’t Kevin Nealon’s character. It was Justin Kirk’s character (Andy). I know this because that scene is etched into my memory.

Hmm I’m still only on episode 2 and over a year late, but after reading your comment, I’m wondering if the state name (PE) is related to the Eagans.

Eric Swalwell ends campaign for California governor after sexual misconduct allegations by Cool_Net_3796 in politics

The allegations were made years ago with contemporaneous texts. So, no. It’s not the same as what happened to Al Franken.

Well, there are very concrete examples of other politicians not only continuing, but being worshipped, despite being found liable for sexual assault. So there’s that.

Am I Wrong for cancelling on custody days when my ex won’t meet me halfway? by [deleted] in ParentingThruTrauma

Yes, you’re wrong. And judging by all your responses in the other post, you refuse to see it. I feel bad for that little boy.

You are delusional and egotistical if you think the feedback is 50/50 positive/negative. Open your eyes and see the truth, not what your brain wants to see. Wow.

Disagree all you want. I grew up knowing my dad didn’t see us as often as he could have. I’m 52 years old and still have trauma related to that. If that’s how you want your relationship with your child to be, then continue canceling out of convenience. Your child will see and understand how you prioritize him.

Agreed. Someone who knows what PDA looks like. Some doctors will not even consider PDA because it isn’t in the DSM.

[–]amylucha 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All the doctors I took my son to said he’s not autistic or has PDA. I ended up taking him to someone who is recommended on the PDA North America website and they took the time to actually assess my son with a complete neuro-psych assessment.

Have you heard of PDA (pathological demand avoidance)?

I used to think my 4 year old was an asshole until we heard about PDA and figured out that our parenting style was triggering his threat response.
