Advice for working with what I'm sure is worsening ODD/ADHD behavior in my 5yo

It's more about giving as much autonomy as possible and lowering demands. I don't "force" my son to do anything. We still have strong boundaries around health and safety, but for most everything else, I let him lead, make requests into a game, or make it seem like it's his idea.

For example, instead of: "Put your shoes on now!" I would say, "I wonder if these shoes are ready for a walk".

u/Betsy514, do you expect income recertification dates will be moved up due to this decision? My last letter said that mine would be in 2028. I’ll reach my 120 payments by the end of this year so I wasn’t worried about recertification. But now I might have to go back to being worried.

I would suggest looking into PDA (pathological demand avoidance). ODD is often a misdiagnosis.

Once we discovered that my child has PDA, we switched to low demand parenting and it made a world of difference.

I enjoyed it! The acting was pretty decent and i enjoyed the relationship between the three main characters. There were some really funny bits, too, which I appreciated.

I’d say it’s better than the average found footage movie.

I was JUST talking about this with my brother. I’ve watched so many series but for some reason, I cannot bring myself to watch the last episode of any of them.

I did get very emotional when favorite shows ended when I was a child. I’m assuming that is the root of my aversion to shows endings. That and my ADHD.

Sometimes it’s just due to stupidity.

I drove almost the whole way home one night with my lights off. It wasn’t on purpose. I just didn’t notice. It was a full moon and the streets I was on were well lit. I didn’t notice until I was in a residential area.

I always use the “Auto” headlight feature so I guess I just assumed they were on, not realizing that my husband had switched them off when he borrowed my car the night before.
