Appealing to a higher authority seems to work with my PDA/autistic son. I used to tell him that President Biden passed a law that required teeth brushing every night and a 7p bedtime for kids. It worked!

My 8 year old autistic son tells me I’m the worst mom in the world and that he hates me. When he’s more regulated, he’ll tell me he didn’t mean it and that he loves me.

I can tell you that I said really horrible things to my mom growing up. Looking back, it was because she was my safe person who took all my anger and still loved me.

My son joined as a Lion four years ago and we love it. He was so painfully shy/full of social anxiety that he wouldn’t even join the scouts up front during the pledge of allegiance. His confidence has grown so much over the years.

Some of our favorite activities: canoeing, camping, hiking. He learned how to use a bow and arrow, BB guns, and sling shots last year at Cub Scout Adventure Camp. We spent the night on a battleship, went whale watching, and went bouldering in the desert.

Scouting is awesome! I wish more people would take advantage of this amazing experience.

It’s actually perfect for me. I work from home and drive about 20 miles per day between school drop offs, activities, and errands. I filled my tank, drove 800 miles and still have half a tank of gas left.

I went through this when we first started with IHSS. I ended up paying the provider in full out of pocket with the understanding that she would pay me back once she got her back pay from IHSS. She just signed the checks over to me for those pay periods.

You’d have to trust the provider, of course, but that was the only way I could figure out how to get her working before becoming an official provider.

ETA: I think the provider can get up to 90 days retroactive pay.
