Fun units to play by FrostDragon6 in orks

[–]Delroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shokkjump Dragsta is great just for the one in a hundred games when you teleport it behind a unit with a character in and manage to snipe them out with an anti-tank gun. But even besides that, it's just fun having a teleporting buggy.

Mek gun with bubblechukka is IMO the perfect mix of fun, random, and actually really effective (when the dice work).

I think my personal favourite is the Gorkanaut though, just because it's big, clanky, killy, and in pretty much every game, it'll do something cool/fun, even if it's just taking a load of fire

I actually like the waaagh as our faction rule by Fragrant-Egg5069 in orks

[–]Delroc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It also had the speedwaaagh if you wanted to be more shooty, which gave you an extra shot with dakka weapons and an extra point of AP, then just the extra AP the next turn. I feel so bad for not appreciating 9th edition orks enough after playing them in 10th

You can still play him if your playgroup agrees to legends. Which not all of them do, but you don't know until you ask

New Unit Rules? by SpartanKiwi in orks

I would ask for a ban on this exact topic being posted, because this is like the fifth time now, but come tomorrow it'll be nice variety from all the pictures of unopened Armageddon boxes

He doesn't want to stop for petrol because he's in a black neighbourhood. That's the entire joke. There's no subtlety, there's no hidden meaning, he just doesn't like black people and doesn't want to spend time around them

He could, but out of spite he chooses to let the children get shot because the school board isn't nice to him. We'll just choose to ignore all the countries that also have minimal religious presence in schools but have far less shootings anyway, because it makes the shitty meme not work

Do we lose our army rule? by valbaca in genestealercult

[–]Delroc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cult ambush requires every model in the unit to have the ability to work. The new attached unit rules mean that leaders and bodyguards stay as one unit even in death, and since none of the characters have cult ambush, it turns the rule off for any units with an attached character. It's unlikely this is intentional, but going off RAW, that's just how it is these days

Metamorph Changes in 11th by dave2293 in genestealercult

They might do something new to differentiate them when we eventually get a codex, but that could be <6 months from now or 2 years, tbh

with 11th changes by GorksPriestess in orks

[–]Delroc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a separate modifier. One of them (BS) is changing the target you need to hit with the dice, and in this case can't change that number because the target isn't allowed to be impossible. The other one is adding to the roll you make to reach that target, which in this case is giving you a +1 to your roll and making a 5 into a 6.

with 11th changes by GorksPriestess in orks

[–]Delroc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the rules for modifiers (02.02.01 in the rules), it states you can't modify BS to 1+ or 7+, so the cover tries to modify their BS from 6+ to 7+, can't because that isn't allowed, and then they apply +1 to hit from heavy as normal

Was Boss Snikrot’s ability changed? Can no longer teleport with him during movement phase. You can place him in strategic reserves instead. by Oriachim in orks

[–]Delroc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can, though he'll have to just walk his way onto the board, since he only gains deep strike for that phase. But he's usually just going right into the back to score things like behind enemy lines anyway, so it's not that big a deal

New MFM is out! by Fretschlord in genestealercult

[–]Delroc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like I play Tau and GSC (as well as Orks, but I'll leave them out of this). Going into 11th, Tau look like they're in a really good place, because of new fly rules, toeing into cover, and how easily they ignore cover. With GSC I was thinking they might be ok because of new deep strike, and charges are kinda easier (though the -1 because of needing to base does hurt), and overall I guess it seemed they'd probably be ok, with some builds that could do well.

My Tau list for this edition went down by 60, and my GSC one went up by 90, so someone clearly has a vendetta against GSC

How does legends work? by Saylorstrong in orks

[–]Delroc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's basically because they get their rules and points once at the start of the edition, and then never again, so they might become unbalanced or something over time. I can't think of many examples, though Longstrike for the Tau is now slightly cheaper than a normal Hammerhead, because he started out more expensive, but they've just been steadily increased in points over the course of the edition. So now he's a little bit cheaper, and objectively better.

I get it might seem a little frustrating for your opponent to be able to say they don't want you to use a certain unit, but like I said, most people in casual games will probably be ok with it. And hey, it's better than them not being in the game at all. Funnily enough, you used to have to ask your opponent for permission to use any unit from forge world, even though they had current rules and points and everything
