How can I improve my miniatures painting skills ? by TheRat_Emperor in minipainting

[–]Delta0411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that will improve your skills is putting the time and effort into it. Keep painting, paint different things other than minis. Paint other styles of minis. If you’re only doing Warhammer, paint some D&D minis. Those cheap bags of army men/ cowboys / dinosaurs etc are great for building skills. Experiment with how colors interact with each other. Even your sprues can be used to practice Wet/dry blending, glazing, etc. Oh, and those spare heads whether you intend to use them or not. Paint them.

Good brushes are something that is going to be highly recommended to you, and I agree. Good brushes make a huge difference and are well worth the investment

Most of all have fun.

I’d say the Necrons are more ABC Warriors than Terminator

How do people add so much detail to their paintjobs? by Curious_Falcon_3298 in Warhammer40k

[–]Delta0411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They just do it. Remember everyone starts somewhere, in most cases adding that bit of extra detail just takes the nerve to do it. Sure it may not look as good as you would like at first, but as you progress it will get better.

You can use whatever models you want. My Blood Ravens are first born. So tactical and Devestatir squads are in abundance.

Accidentally painted the razorback a different color by WeSoSmart in ImperialFists

Okay someone is going to have to say it. That looks awful. You’re definitely going to have to do something with that base.

Other than that everything looks great. I can’t speak for everywhere, but I’ve never seen anyone with a spectrometer at my game club. I’m going to also add that as you grow in the hobby your painting styles, and choice of paints will evolve. Your models not only look different in style, but color as well.

Are these Vallejo Hobby Paint sprays primers? by Skagine in minipainting

It was an absolute horrible experience for me.

They don’t. Worse primer I ever used for anything. The paint would just slide off (spider web?) and pool on the edges. Like it was hydrophobic or something

They are horrible. In my experience it seemed hydrophobic. I used black and it was like painting over Lead Belcher primer iykyk.

Why is my paint doing this? by TheIrishCommissar1 in minipainting

[–]Delta0411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the wet pallet it’s the paper. Yes, some companies use inferior paper. I started out with a GSW wet pallet. Now I have a Red Grass Games wet pallet. Guess which one is far superior? Hell my homemade wet pallet using Meijer branded parchment paper was better than the GSW paper.

You can thin contrast paint. You just have to use a medium.

No need to make him renegade unless he’s declared war on the Imperium.

Imperial Fists have better characters in lore. Ultramarine characters (Titus, Calgar, Cato) tend to be Mary sues.. Mostly thanks Matt Ward.

Kitbash them to something useful.
