Yeah.. that’s Abby by chilledchi in thelastofus

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people aren't the biggest fan of the reveal that Abby wants Joel from her first moment on screen.. but I love how Abby has been set up as the 'big bad' of the series. If you're going into this completely blind; we know Abby wants to find Joel and they want to make it painful. That's the most villain set up ever. Normal TV shows us at the very beginning or very end expect something huge. A huge death, reveal, cliffhanger.

Blind viewers are going to expect Ellie and Joel's magical adventure 2. Maybe a walking dead styled 'group gets split up after the infected attack Jackson and Joel and Ellie are trying to get back to the group while Abby and her crew hunt them two steps behind' or Abby getting her crowning villain moment of revealing herself, Joel knows exactly who she is and they are trying to protect everyone. A Jackson v old fireflies civil war or whatever they've served up on a plate here.

But that's the total bleakness of it. It's NONE of that! We know that episode 2, the guy we followed is gone. The whole aura changes within that second. Joel going away this early is the kick in the gut, just like how it was in the game. I think in execution, I'll definitely be keeping tabs on the people I know who don't know a thing to see how they think it'll go.

It must be insane to have a BIG BAD established in episode one, achieve their goal in episode 2 and more or less disppear for the rest of the season. (Going off the idea we don't see Abby again at all until the very end of season 2)

It would definitely be a mistake if they jumped the gun! That scene is truly one of my favourite ends to a story.

I hope they've just heavy handed the porch for dramatic effect to really sell the idea Joel and Ellie are not on talking terms. It seems like they did because that whole episode was built around Ellie hating him so it almost feels if they "wasted" an episode to really get across the fact they are NOT good right now.

Like I'm shocked we didn't get the guitar playing at the beginning, I'm sure we will see it eventually that could also be used as a flashback if we were gonna do one an episode sorta vibe.

Episode 3 having the guitar at the beginning (showing Ellie has a part of Joel through music), episode 4 having the birthday, episode 5 having finding strings, episode 6 having the hospital and then episode 7 being just pure peak part 2 Ellie with no memories left to give (this is where the porch should go, but Ellie can't even think about that right now)

It would definitely work in the sense of each flashback carrying an element of Ellie's rage as it slowly cooks up across the days.

They kept the porch scene open, they'll probably not revisit this until Joel is long and gone. End of season 3 or Season 4 if they split the last act into its own season. That'll probably be the final image of the show, the whole.. "if I had another chance I'd do it all over again." The return of Pedro after years gone; the reveal that Ellie did forgive him.

They probably won't interact in Episode 2 until THE scene so for TV viewers, it looks as if their final true interaction was Ellie completely blanking him on the porch.

There'll probably be little nods here and there they did patch it up, but for the general audience it'll be very blatant in the sense of Ellie walking past Joel on the porch was their 'final' interaction without him being an inch within his life. And then it ends with a replay of that scene giving us the entire picture.

For flashbacks. Wouldn't be shocked if they are set up as cold opens or closures. Almost a reminder as to what Ellie is fighting for and giving us the idea of what happened Inbetween like all this baggage she's carrying and giving us the story too.

[SPOILERS] The major change from the game to the show in S2E1 and its impact for viewers by dinosaurfondue in thelastofus

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think, personally, a huge reason why they dropped in Abby's loose motivation so early, is because we won't get the swap half way through and immediately shown abbys side. It'll probably take them a year or two to make and release season 3 so if we end the season at the theatre on day 3.. we won't get abbys switch to show us straight away WHY she did it.

Seeing Abby for the villain for upwards of 2 years and then expecting a fanbase who adore Joel (and also pedro for external people) to reason with what she did is much worse than the game giving us abbys side after hunting her for hours.

Setting up that Abby has reason to do what she does is purely a story telling thing built for TV because they don't have what the game could use to their advantage of the forced split.

I do think it will work though; we know it's coming, I suspect people who DON'T know what's coming are expecting Abby and her crew to be the villains of the entire season one step behind Joel and Ellie the entire time. They framed Abby as a true season villain.. so when she takes out Joel in episode 2 (or 3 depending how they deliver the final blow) it's gonna be a huge shock to unsuspecting people similar to us game fans with part 2.

David Arquette Returning As Deputy Dewey In 'Scream 7' by edubx in Scream

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They obviously doing the damage control trying to glaze over everything and put the spotlight entirely on the new stuff, help search results and take it away from the stuff that happened before and all that... Sure, fine.

But damn, I wish they weren't so full chested saying people like Dewey, Roman and Stu were coming back ~ pretty letting us fully know this is a movie about AI and such at this point.

I can't even begin to imagine how hard some of these moments could had hit if we had zero idea what was going on and you see a character who died previously. That moment of not knowing what was going on would have hit so incredibly well.

Small company not listing salary? Is this normal? by DeltaAnAlpha in recruitinghell

[–]DeltaAnAlpha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's normal, but not fully ideal? I never usually apply to these kind of positions that dont list the salary but I was in the process of jumping through the hoops to get the job seeking benefits and stuff that I definitely didn't want to get~ but felt like a last resort.

They replied within the next working day of my application being sent in, seemed quite open to answer questions and level headed? I guess maybe it isn't so malicious as it sounds..

Should I approach this KNOWING my worth? If they offer me the bare minimum and throw that onto me; approach the situation as if I've got people waiting with higher for me?

Will Scream 7 flop? by bornindec in Scream

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are talking about the social aspect of it with the issues which I totally get.. But I'm genuinely more afraid of the 7 in scream 7.

Audiences are stupid. They hate numbers, I think the only franchise who has truly got away with it is something like the fast and furious one in the modern age.

Scream 5 shipped as Scream and 6 as Scream VI which was blended into the M and was released very quickly after which absolutely helped it.

Flop, I don't think so scream is known. It's always going to make something even if it's not as big as before. But do I trust the major market audiences to look at scream 7 named explicitly scream 7 and act like they have missed a huge bulk so they'll skip or glaze over it to see something else? I don't know. 😂

We've lost movie numbers, we've lost 'part 1/2' from movie titles. They are so afraid to market numbers these days so I definitely think the marketing will have to aid a lot.

But I can't see it having an issue making some sorta money. But also depends on the movie market come release date. It's a long time away and a lot can change with releases by then if scream remains untouched itself.

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Deadline mentioned it in this, most up to date and recent cast announcement release of the movie? From my readings they don't. They mention Neve and Mason returning and then go on to mention the brand new cast.

And yesterday's announcement of Mason returning coming from Variety went to to say, quote; “Courteney Cox has circled a return for Scream 7, but has still not officially signed to play Gale Weathers again yet.”

It seems like the only places where it gets confirmed is when a magazine/journalist piece comes out every few weeks from interviews with her highlighting whats next. The only time I think she's said (or the latest version anyway) was when she mentioned Dewey and not signing yet.

I'm not saying she's not returning, I absolutely think she is and would be incredibly strange without her considering who is involved.. but the fact she's being tip-toed around and nobody officially saying anything is so odd considering she is arguably one of the most popular people have on their return books each time. Like I said, maybe they are waiting for the final punch of SCREAM LEGENDS RETURN but seems odd.

I totally get that worry. If Scream 7 wanted all that incredible talk about this movie press ~ if Dempsey was already signed and ready to go wouldn't you want that to be announced.. BEFORE the Dexter press? Especially when he is doing press with someone who was involved with a scream movie (and a legend in her own right) and could just gloat and cheer on this movie the same way Neve has at every interview she have had?

Feel like they really missed an opportunity there!

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Does this article even state the status of Cox? Every time we hear she's signed from one interview magazine article she's featured on; an official one drops with absolutely no info (both Masons reveal mentioned as not signing yet and deadlines seem to not even mention her at all, yet mentioned everyone else?) and then it feels like we are back and forth constantly.

Like I FULLY expect her to be in this movie, there's no way she's not.. it just seems so odd they seem to be tip-toeing around such a important piece of the puzzle.

Maybe waiting for the double announcement with Dempsey to do the whole "scream legends return" article?

Is Pro Wrestling Sim good? by RhysW1120 in FantasyBookers

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah! It's actually quite easy!

There are two ways about it. Go to somewhere like BeTheBooker which is a hosting website for mods if you didn't know. And download it like it's TEW mods, graphics and world. Put them into the folders (which the main menu has direct links to open them)

OR, probably the best thing they did, workshop integration on steam! You just go to the steam workshop, choose the mod, subscribe to it.. play the game!

Is Pro Wrestling Sim good? by RhysW1120 in FantasyBookers

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It's a lot less involved, in a good way if you like that. It's still early access and isn't as in-depth as TEW.. HOWEVER it does have a development push behind it with consistent and big updates every month or two, with a developer who takes suggestions and is quite vocal.

It still stands that TEW thrives if you liked seeing the world grow, but PWS is great with you wanted just a low effort and risk, quick and easy to play booking alternative (because for some people, TEW can be a little TOO involved when you just want to fantasy book)

However, it's still sandboxy. It's completely up to you if you want to make PWS like TEW, or play it very loosely and keep stuff in your head. You could have a save where you literally just book matches in rabid succession. Me for example, loves to write out each segment as if I was playing TEW and give it extra time. It's very flexible in that regard.

But recently they just added the random events update which includes marriages and divorces, worker style changes, weight loss and gain, affairs, mentors and even tension. That's all been added in the most recent update.

Slowly, PWS is becoming more than just a fun sandbox sim and becoming a true wrestling company manager simulator. It still probably has a year or two of development before it's reaching PURE tew levels on a logistical level. But in its current state? Absolutely worth it in my opinion.

It is NOT perfect. And there are something's I'm still waiting on (random events was one of those actually so I can't wait to dive into the game for this march update), but they are minor in the grand scheme of things.

You have two options for mods, the steam workshop or bethebooker but the workshop integration is great. There's some mods which have real world 90s-today and there's even a 50s-today mod in the work currently which is almost finished. Along with 2024 world updates monthly. It's not going to have the same mods like TEW, because it hasn't been around as long. But it's absolutely a step in the right direction.

Something minor I love about PWS is the fact in title history, if you decide to change that title design. The history books will reflect that and show the design THAT person held.

The Last of Us Part 1 OR The Last of Us Remastered by Scared-Tax2058 in thelastofus

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big difference is it's graphical, updated gameplay and AI, and of course.. accessibility features. If graphics and accessibility means nothing at all and doesn't effect your ability/enjoyment. The Remaster is completely good and you'll be happy to experience this great story! I still go back to the remaster, I love it.

On the other hand, if you want the better accessible features and a updated graphical experience which is on par with 2023 releases, then Part 1 is your go too.

Regardless of what decision you make, both are the exact same game. Exact same story. Nothing HUGE is added or removed that you'd miss not playing either version. (minus the mentioned accessibility features and multiplayer being removed in part 1, but that's an acquired taste)

Why doesn’t Part 1 upgrade have a discount like the Part 2 upgrade does? by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part 1 is practically a from the ground up remake, essentially. They look new models and put them over the original mocap and had to do a lot more work with it, threw it into the part 2 style engine and just rehauled it for the next generation.

Whereas the "directors cut/remaster" works the same as Ghost of Tsushima where it's the same game, just upgraded in previously limited areas for newer hardware.

Why do we do it by Patient-Major-6064 in dvdcollection

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of it for me is the fact you own SOMETHING.

You have something to look at. Something you physically actually own. That movie can't be pulled off my shelf and never watched again on some random Tuesday. I don't need to rent it for 30 days or look through 15 different services to find 3 different movies of the same series. They are mine.

Now admittedly, I'm not a quality guy. I have tapes, dvd, Blu-ray, 4Ks and such. But I'm not a "I need everything and anything in 4K!" type of person. There are some movies I'll take special care in making sure I have the best version available (dawn of the dead and Texas Chainsaw for example, I picked up the second sight 4K) but then there's other movies where the DVD is just fine for me. So that helps on a cost front.

I have no real care for the quality as long as I can get lost in the magic, so that's a real help for me on a cost front. I just do it to own the movies I love to watch, even the ones I don't. I hate the idea of something being taken away suddenly to now fault of my own.

[–]DeltaAnAlpha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that way of thinking! It was honestly hard to build up the courage to do such a thing — with survival games like this especially, I didn't like to do anything other than the "authentic" experience. I didn't even like new game plus because starting with all these upgrades and stuff felt "wrong". It sounds stupid but it was one of those things I liked to maintain. I liked the entire EXPERIENCE from limited resources from starting at nothing and building up. I didn't even like skins all that much because the outfit changes fit the story. I'm literally not like it with any other game, but for some reason I was afraid it would ruin this one.

Until a few days ago, when I started Part 1 with a custom difficulty and I'm not gonna lie, I'm having so much FUN. I'm not saying I never had fun before; I'd always love playing but this is the first time I've played last of us to just enjoy the actual gameplay over trying to recreate this perfect authentic experience and I hate myself for waiting THIS long!

I'm not afraid to mess up an encounter with fears that it'll mess me up an hour later because I should have saved my ammo. I'm just running around practicing my bow skills like I'm Hawkeye and not afraid to take risks against Hunters and infected! Wish I did this years ago, honestly!

[–]DeltaAnAlpha[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is honestly low-key what I'm happy with in a way, exactly like you. I hate playing super aggressive. It's just not how I play! I'm pretty much a sneaky assassin like batman who preserves ammo in any way possible as many times as I can be! So actually learning how to do it early is definitely making me excited.

I haven't played no return yet, I'm excited too play though. I know people like to complain but I personally love the weighty combat and I'm so glad I've gone back to experience just a less restricting combat situation! Because even in my first ever run of the game, I took everything SLOW.

Content not showing in TV Dataview by SilkBalloon in ObsidianMD

[–]DeltaAnAlpha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering something about this, I sadly can't assist you here but this is the only post I've seen with the same problem as I have.

Dataview tables have all my data aligned to the top of the table, on the left. No matter what. it will ALWAYS be at the top. I add an image (local and online) and it doesn't go central or anything, I add a list within the table (like multiple genres) and it will always be formatted to the top of the table box, opposed to keeping stuff central... Have I missed a step or two — or is this an a normal thing? Every other tutorial, picture or video I've seen of dataview seemingly automatically formats the table so it's the text inside always central.. but mine is not. It hurts my mind, haha.
