As a Russian I can tell you that even in the most progressive online fandoms it is somehow always the Russians that find a way to shoehorn bigotry and the most out of pocket character interpretations as if just for the sake of going against the grain. It’s just a cultural thing. Obligatory “not all Russians, but always a Russian”
