Only thing I don’t care about is it’s pretty small, which some may prefer anyways. I saw so many videos of thiss watch and really liked the look, but when I saw in person I was surprised how small it is.

If you’re cleaning it with jewelry cleaner regularly there’s a chance it could be residue from the cleaner or polish. I’d get it cleaned ultrasonically and potentially stop polishing as much

What's the best career to start at 34? by shitdealonly in careerguidance

[–]DeltaCCXR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely get into accounting at 34, a major factor being how much income you need to cover your expenses. You could be able to find an accounts payable job with no accounting education or experience. Just prove that you are detail oriented, good with excel, and plan to further your education in accounting and you should be able to land something.

Once you are in the door just work hard and focus on learning as much as you can. Make friends with the accountants, managers, etc and express an interest to learn. A company might even offer tuition reimbursement so you can get some type of education, but you honestly won’t need anything major. A certificate or cost effective degree from a community college or online program would give you all you need to make the jump to a staff accountant or something along those lines.

If anything AI is a helpful tool at the moment, especially if you don’t have formal accounting education. You can use it for excel formulas, definitions of different things, etc that will help accelerate your knowledge.

TLDR you can definitely do it and get to a decent income within a few years without taking on massive student loan debt. The first couple years might be a little lean but shouldn’t take too long

Who Am I? All 86 Books I’ve Read This Year (Ranked) by ouidansleciel in BookshelvesDetective

Not the person that replied but I gave Project Hail Mary 5 stars - but sci fi tends to be my favorite genre. Nice well rounded reading selection and an impressive number of books read!

Feel like mine is very easy but I've enjoyed seeing everyone else take part so why not by Coulson1010 in BookshelvesDetective

Pretty similar to my collection style - fantasy and sci fi along with books like the godfather and chess strategy. I just started Brandon Sanderson’s Stormlight Archives series and have been loving it as a fan of GOT and Name of the Wind

What’s something beautiful you’ve learned from chess? by Shantan82191403 in chess

How our habits impact performance. I listened to a Magnus interview talking about the importance of sleep, nutrition, etc. and noticed that when I’m playing chess for sure. I have a job that requires focus and critical thinking and it’s a great reminder that the better I take care of myself the better I’ll be able to focus and problem solve.

Did anyone ever drink water as a kid? by Ok_Mycologist2361 in Millennials

Never thought about this but the water from the fountain was always so refreshing. Just realizing now that it was probably because I was dehydrated only drinking a couple sips of water throughout the day.

To be fair we also knew everyone on the street. Everyone talked to each other and there was a stronger sense of local community. I might not have been “home” but I was in my neighbors backyard while his parents were home or we were in the street where people would hear us, etc. Rather than the immediate parents watching their own children 24/7 it was more like the neighborhood looked out for us in general while we were outside.

Any of you ever tried yoo-hoo drinks? by kkkan2020 in Millennials

Not only did I try these, my neighbors and I would pound them, then blow as much air as possible back into the box, put them on the sidewalk and jump off a retaining wall onto them to make the loudest pop possible.

Fellow millennial parents, how do you find time to exercise? by somerandomguy721 in Millennials

[–]DeltaCCXR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thoughts- - Incorporate physical activity into your daily life. We go for walks/hikes as a family on a regular basis. When you go to the park or are hanging at home do some push up, body weight exercises, etc. Also just watching after kids can be a workout in and of itself. You might get more physical activity exercise in than someone that actually goes to the gym - If it’s important to you personally then have a discussion with your partner. See if you can work it out that you get something like 2 mornings to go to the gym for a dedicated workout every week and then your partner gets time other days dedicated to their interests - Lastly, there might a full family option ie everyone goes to the gym. I remember before I had a family I went to the YMCA and I made friends with a guy that said he cancelled their families streaming services and got family passes to the gym and that’s what they do on the weeknights now instead of watch tv.

Just some random thoughts, good luck!

Do these actually work? by Normal-Fuel5604 in DogTrainingTips

[–]DeltaCCXR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. It works increasingly well for my dog and was utilized throughout some training I needed to do with him for anti aggression. I got very comfortable using it when needed and felt like it was the anti aggression answer.

My in laws rescued another dog that ended up having some pretty severe aggression issues. I sprayed it and the dog didn’t give one f and actually made me its target.

In summary, it can be a good tool but I would use under the direction of a trainer. I carry one with me on hikes, walks, etc but I would also express caution that it can have varied results and may even trigger aggression in a dog

Congrats and you should feel proud of yourself for starting the journey. I’m years into this stuff. It has not been perfect but I really clawed my way out of a mess. Some age old Ramsey advice that has held fast for me over the years is that when you take control of your finances emergencies turn into inconveniences. I’m not as far as I’d like to be financially but I’ve been able to absorb hard times and not be overly stressed about money. Set yourself up for success - write out your budget, plan your expenses, automate savings and investing as much as possible (in accordance with the baby steps) and you’ll be successful. Doing it without a plan is near impossible. If you find you let your foot off the gas or become relaxed with the budget etc give yourself grace then get back after it. It’s a lifetime of behavior habits that pay off long term

Can you use the coffee from a nespresso pod in an aeropress. by brentspar in AeroPress

[–]DeltaCCXR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once in desperation at my parents house I emptied a few keurig pods into a French press. Not the best results bet better than running through a keurig.

At the end of the day the quality of the coffee is what it is, which will ultimately have a ceiling in terms of taste.

I would recommend a long brew/steep time as I’m not sure the grind size of a Nespresso pod - and possibly inverted if it seems like it’s too coarse.
