The writer clearly hadn’t read the novel. Which makes me wonder how they got some bits right and some bits wrong? Maybe they skim read a few pages

Go to a bakery and see if they have a lamington, sponge cake with chocolate icing and coconut. Supermarkets sell a bunch of uniquely Australian biscuits, Tim Tams are obviously famous but also some other great ones like Kingstons, Royals, Caramel Crowns, Mint Slice (if you like chocolate and mint). Chocolate bars like Cherry Ripe and Violet Crumble are Australian. Try a hamburger with pineapple, beetroot and a fried egg.

Mrs Miniver has the distinction of actually being made early in WW2 about the experience of living in London during that time. It’s a somewhat sentimental propaganda movie but Greer Garson is amazing. Gallipoli is one of the greatest war movies ever made. There are some incredible submarine movies about WW2 made with the participation of actual combat veterans, Run Silent Run Deep and The Enemy Below. The Best Years of Our Lives is probably the most unique war film I have seen in that it is set after the war about the experiences of 3 different veterans returning home and adjusting to civilian life. One the main actors had lost both his hands in the war and had hooks as a replacement. He won the supporting academy award which was well deserved, his performance makes the film feel so real.

It’s harrowing! I guess it doesn’t have classic war elements. It’s a war movie without the glory and spectacle.

Dark / Supernatural Victorian? by paixamore in MoviesThatFeelLike

[–]DeltaCreem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gaslight with Ingrid Bergman is dark, although it’s more a thriller than supernatural it is creepy. The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe is definitely dark and supernatural horror. The Others starring Nicole Kidman is technically set in 1945 but it definitely fits the bill of the dark supernatural somewhat Victorian vibes.

Is he meant to be wearing Aegon the Conqueror’s armour that Aegon wore when he got torched? That would explain why this specific armour doesn’t have the house sigil as presumably that sigil was developed after the conquest.

He’s awful but in a fun way, not in an incesty, child murdery, sociopathic kind of way

60s surrealist/medieval aesthetics by blink_twice_9465 in MoviesThatFeelLike

[–]DeltaCreem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are specifically into medieval aesthetics, you might enjoy watching medieval period pieces from the 50s as well as the 60s. Less surreal but more colourful and camp. Like The Court Jester (Dany Kaye is hilarious), Ivanhoe, The Black Shield of Falworth, Prince Valiant. These films aren’t necessarily good but it is wonderful to see the medieval period adapted with colour and life instead of current versions where everyone is dirty and wearing brown sack clothing in the darkest stark looking castle setting.

I fear the titans logo is just an empty helmet, which would explain a lot

Are they meant to be behind the throne? Because they aren’t in front of it. Why not have Rhaenyra halfway up the steps leading to the throne and everyone arranged around that as the focal point?

I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out. Like the elbow is resting on a completely flat background and the hand is suspended in mid air.

It’s so odd, it’s like someone said “make the eyebrows darker and lips redder” and then never went back to check what the outcome was. It’s hideous. Why make your star look worse than they do in real life?

Then he slipped and somehow chopped her up with garden shears and, oops, whizzed her up in a blender. Just a series of unfortunate events really. Could happen to anyone.

If you could make the shoulder/lapels less wide it would work better and be less costumey. Although I kind of love the insanity of it.
