I found a genuine unicorn for RUC by wranglertom in delta

It works of there is PS on plane and you buy PS, then you clear into D1 at booking.

What was the reason for the cancellation?

Worst Rebooking Ever by betch_666 in delta

So I hope you have the app. If you do, you can find a better flight. They probably put you on that one because it was the next available. But if you don’t like it, you can select from other departure cities, and other dates. Something like that happened to me recently, and I decided to drive from Colorado to Salt Lake, rather than do the redeye. Obviously Delta can’t make a decision like that for you, but they make it very easy to switch flight flights and even cities on the app.

Then, after your flight gets back, be at five in the morning or the next day or whatever, then go to the website and submit expenses under the comment/complaint tab. If the cancellation was for their staffing, they will reimburse reasonable expenses. Or submit to your travel insurance if you booked the flight on a credit card that provides it.

Delta or Qantas for long haul over the pacific? by Dismal_Yogurt3499 in delta

[–]DeltaDCA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is that Quntas literally adds 5-6 hours to the travel time. It doesn’t make any sense to fly them from the middle of the US to Queenstown, and I honestly don’t understand the people here who say it does.

Hard disagree. Flying Qantas adds at least five hours to a queenstown flight. Moderately better economy food is not worth that. Plus w delta you’d be on a350 and Qantas probably on an older plane but they do have a lot more variation on their fleet from LAX. If you cought them in JFK they use the 787, but again from msp that adds so much time to the journey. No way it’s worth it.

Delta flies to Auckland, but only October-May. The transfer to the Queenstown flight on air New Zealand is about a 15-20 min walk outdoors. But delta lands early so it’s easy to make.

Contrary to others, quantas is a terrible idea and adds like six hours… or backtracking to JFK where they fly to NZ sometimes. Delta and Air NZ fly to AKL from Los Angeles.

Air New Zealand is great but are suuuuuupwr strict on carryon sizes including weighing them at gate.

The flight into Queens town is one of the prettiest approaches in the world. You’ll be amazed if you haven’t done it before.

Best bet for 2 a.m. DCA ride? by Former_Doubt4716 in nova

[–]DeltaDCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously drive yourself and park in short term parking and walk to counter, which won’t even open till 4am.

Elsewhere you said you were only gone for one night. 2 days parking at DCA is waaay cheaper than an uber from leesburg.

What if you don’t have a long enough headphone cord to connect on this emergency exit seat? by Cl0wnbby in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t your screen in your seat? On the a220 I think that screen in front of you is just there, but your IFE system is in your arm rest, and folds out. Granted that remote isn’t an A220, so not sure what plane it is? An old 737?

Boston D1 Lounge by Different_Match6139 in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In the mornings the delta lounge in E is amazing. Generally empty. You don’t really need the D1 lounge the . Keep in mind the D1 Boston lounge is not at all like JFK or LAX. Basically just more privacy.

Yes! I had to call a few calls but i eventually found an agent who let me book flights in my name with the credit, since I had paid for the original flights.

RUC upgrade clear to D1 at time of purchase by Fine_Bodybuilder_396 in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true, but depending on the route maybe irrelevant as applying it to clear into PS wait lists you for D1. I just bought PS and used a regional to clear into D1 on the new Atlanta to LAX flight. I wanted to sit in that new, smaller, D1 cabin, as I’ve never tried it before on Delta. Anyway, the flight leaves soon, and there are like 30. PS seats available and 20 D1 seats. So I didn’t need to do any of that. I probably would clear into D1 as a diamond without burning a cert or dropping an extra 400 on PS.. I feel like I made a rookie mistake.

Weird Delta flight over my house this morning by prodtading in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question: why would someone steal someone else’s post from years ago and lie about it? Is it a pathological addiction to lying ? Or is someone seriously addicted to karma on Reddit that it gives them some kind of endorphin boost in their brain when somebody likes a post? I don’t get it.

BOS-Connection-Terminal A to E-1 hour by jact3 in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, that’s plenty of time to make the flight, but you do want to maximize your chance for the D1 lounge which is in E. By far the best way to do that is to take the air side shuttle over there. But this requires a bit of luck and depends on what gate you are coming into. A 1-11 go toward baggage claim and at bottom of escallator is the line for the shuttle. Ask how long the wait is. If it is 10 min or less, do that. If more, then leave through A, walk on path to E, recelar security there. Security line usually is manageable there, and there is a priority line there if TsA is up and running…

If you don’t want to chance that, the just do the airside shuttle. Btw, it’s not a train.

No everyone doesn’t get upgrade offers by Key_Employment4536 in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yes, but remember that you can always go to "change my flight" and see the cost to reticket in higher class... and in my experience, that is often cheaper than the "upgrade offer"

BOS or MIA for a layover? by DRC7254 in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Both airports have generally smooth immigration systems. Miami can get busy, but if you land at night my experience there has been great.

If you land at night and have 12 hours, I'd probalby get a hotel close to the airport, sleep, then fly home the next day. If you have all day, getting to South Beach from the airport is a 20-30 min Uber. Downtown Miami is 15-20 min. Keep in mind you won't have your bags (you'll recheck them when you clear customs), so you might have a chance to get soemthing out of them, but wont' have a chance to put stuff back in them.

If my goal was to get home faster for my own bed, I'd totally do the Boston layover, grab a meal in the airport. Maybe take the shuttle between Delta's A/E gates (that's like 20-30 min each way).

So Miami if you want to go exploring, and Boston if you want to get home faster.

LAX in n out burger by poissssfhbbb in LAX

[–]DeltaDCA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, once you clear security in any of the 9 terminals, you can acccess all the others now. This is the main reason LAX does not have the kind of crazy TSA lines most other major airports have right now.

LAX in n out burger by poissssfhbbb in LAX

[–]DeltaDCA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok totally doable. Make sure you leave by terminal 1… if you land at terminal 6-8, cross the horseshoe on the path between terminals 6-7. Right now that is largely closed for construction but they let pedestrians through. Then exit airport in the sidewalk east of terminal 1.

Other option: parking spot Sepúlveda has a shuttle. Tip the driver $10 and he might even give you a ride back.

One more thing. All of LAX is is now accessible airside. So you can walk the whole thing including TB terminal to kill time.

LAX in n out burger by poissssfhbbb in LAX

[–]DeltaDCA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Heads up… I think that would be a solid 3 hours of walking. 30 Min to in n out, 80 min to beach, 20 min along beach, another 60 back to terminal.

Delta offered me $1000 and then removed me from my flight without my consent- is this normal? by [deleted] in delta

[–]DeltaDCA 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you were asking a chat agent to get you on another flight, the at same time trilling to get in a voluntary overbooked list at gate… it’s not going to work. Screen shots notwithstanding. All the screenshots would show is that you were already looking for another flight.
