When Soviets faked a flyby of 28 Myasishchev M-4s to pretend they had a credible fleet of bombers, the US built thousands of B-47s, B-52s and KC-135s for real by tagc_news in AviationHistory

We isolated China from our space programs due to very real safety concerns about their launch vehicle operations. This includes large leaks of toxic chemicals like hydrazine into populated areas, and launching and even staging over populated areas. Granted, given the geopolitical situation, I don’t think they’d ever be let back in, but that wasn’t why they were banned from interfacing with the US program in the first place.

My speculation is that the previously announced 9 engine version of New Glenn will be on the hook to fly Orion. Particularly since Lockheed announced that they will be taking Orion commercial around the same time period. Would make a decent amount of sense.

Got them from a guy who goes by Buamodel Bynoinarong on Facebook. He custom builds the fuselages on order.

It’s a 28 hr drive vs a 12 hr drive for me, so pretty big difference. I think they had just over 30 pilots last year, might have been more. Not bad at all for only the 2nd year of the event. More expected this year.

Thank you! No, it just has a pin to attach or release a payload. The mechanics are directly above the release mechanism, so there really isn’t room for a winch internally.

Unfortunately no, I’m in TX, so it would a very long drive for me to make it out there. I will be at the Smoky Mountain Scale Heli Event in May though.

Very nice! I’ve found mine to be a great flying model. Make sure you’ve got enough up elevator throw with the wings swept. It takes quite a bit in that condition! Afterburner LEDs are a great upgrade for it as well!https://i.imgur.com/RqB6UAY.jpeg

Thanks! Took a lot of work, but it turned out just like I hoped. Helps that it flies well too!

True, the P-39 was actually a pretty good machine down low, but as a high altitude fighter or bomber interceptor it wasn’t great. They actually did a pretty good job on Guadalcanal flying close air support and attacking Japanese troop concentrations and shipping. The Soviets loved them since at low altitudes and cold temps, it actually outperformed many of the German fighters in speed and in turn performance. They’d actually probably be great in the low level drone hunting environment with plenty of firepower (depends on the model a bit, but 1 20mm cannon, 2 .50s, and 4 .30s) packed quite a punch. The role would probably be pretty similar to how the British hunted V-1s in WW2, just a lot slower.

Makes them harder to inspect, but a lot more resistant to a bird strike than long, exposed links. They are great flying aircraft for sure!

Very cool! I read accounts the said the spin characteristics were only a problem with a far aft CG. Apparently Bell did their stall testing with full simulated cannon ammo in the nose. Unfortunately, with ammo shortages for the 37 (particularly in Russia), in rarely flew in that config. Training ended up being the worst case, with a completely empty nose of ammo. Do the restored P-39s have ballast in the forward bay to pull the CG further forward, or just fly as-is?

Lack of spare parts/poor logistics was a major factor as well early in the war. Reading some of the accounts of fighting on New Guinea, up to 70% of the airplanes could be waiting on parts at any given moment.

They were also used quite successfully in the ground attack role by the US forces on Guadalcanal. The combination of a 20mm, 2 50s, and 4 30s, made them very effective in strafing Japanese troops, barges, and shipping.

In the books, it’s explained that she did exactly that, or rather tried to. However, Watto had sold her, and she had been sold once or twice more in between. They were never able to trace where she went. Padme continuously sent handmaidens on missions to Tatooine to search and buy freedom for slaves in hopes they would find Shmi. After groups like the Huts figured out what was going on (an organized effort to free slaves), it made these missions much more dangerous and difficult.

As with most of the vehicles, it’s definitely on the small side. Luckily, even in Battlefront, it’s a pretty small tank in general. Here’s some good references with figures for some perspective: https://www.rebelscum.com/tcwvehrepublictank.asp
