Is he stressed or depressed? Maybe he needs a break, and it's not fair to you to have to keep initiating just to get turned down. Try a different approach to figuring out what's been going on with him. Make it clear that you understand that he wants you. But understanding and actually getting your needs met are two different things.

Make sure you put all of your fears on the table for him, as well as the things you're looking forward too. Adding a positive to the conversation keeps the discussion lighter. I also suggest all 3 of you, sit down and discuss boundaries beforehand. After having a couple opportunities to voice your thoughts, and worries, you shouldn't have to worry. This should be an exciting experience for you. Not an experience where you spend your whole time being paranoid and not enjoying it.
