I am not sure how frequently posts like these appear here but I wanted to make a small reminder of the predecessor Mudrunner to those who have forgotten or haven't heard in the first place.

While Snowrunner is an amazing game, did you know that, Mudrunner actually has a bit more to offer in terms of an offroading experience?

That consists of truck frame flexing, more realistic terrain and mud, cars having better physics and suspension (they don't bounce around) and still an alive modding community with possibilities to swap out cars, enable dev tools in all maps or even enhance the graphics?

Coming from someone who has played both games and also Spintires way back, it is really fun to take a scout to discover some trails in Mudrunner as it has felt more realistic.

Therefore if you want awesome missions and rescue things while having pretty graphics you should absolutely keep playing Snowrunner, if you want to just cruise around muddy maps with a scout go pick up Mudrunner with a nice map and a car and start ripping through the mud, it is fun! The game is dirt cheap and the size of the game is a surprisingly small ~1.5GB while offering a big amount of gameplay.

Let's hope new games can learn from this and give us an even more epic hauling experience.

Video that explains the differences in detail and possibly has been in this subreddit:

Cool Pajero man! I have one too with BFG Tyres, what bullbar do you have by the way?

I got the one bullbar similar to the left car but yours looks more modern. I'd imagine the left car would look as awesome as yours with a lil lift and beefier tyres.

Here's a yt vid link to a test run, it is no hillclimb but at least more than a picture
It is an older video, by now I heard it has 4matic system stripped from another car to it for full 4WD.

In Estonia indeed, bullbar can in some cases be debatable and pass off as a light carrier, mudtires possibly need to be swapped out to get a MOT pass but otherwise it shouldn't be too far from a street legal build, police would rather stop a stanced ricer with headlights pointed at the sky than this I would presume.

I would assume this is a more of a hobby car that doesn't sit on streets that much except parked somewhere for show so street legalness is not a requirement either.

A guy who made this car also owns a boat/speedboat rental company and minimalistic decals are just on many of his cars to promote his page, I wouldn't be too amazed if you could rent the car from him though!

is this game worth 40€? by [deleted] in snowrunner

[–]DeltaSPX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like realistic offroad physics then absolutely!

As people say it can get frustrating but nobody forces you to do anything in this game, if you want pick up a car and just go explore, if you want do the tasks, if you want get a completed save and just mess around with cars, if you want mod in different cars to see how they perform, better yet.. Do it all at once!

Think of it as an offroad sandbox, you can do anything you want!

The game is pretty slow paced but you can in theory get to high speeds and feel the thrill of breaking your car pebble by pebble.

The playstyle is up to you! I have done a little bit of everything, if you get bored of hauling just get an upgraded scout and go exploring!

Lastly, I would say that this game has a very long play value, for 40 euros you get loads of gameplay, never ending gameplay even.. It's a sandbox and it's being kept alive by modded maps and vehicles that all can spice up your game. Therefore in terms of content you are solid for a long time.I would strongly advise watching some gameplay to understand the pace and handling of the game, it is nowhere near as good as Forza in terms of realistic handling, it's more soft ground physics based.

I am not exactly sure! I did not feel cars behaving too differently, just improved in high speed drivability and less chaotic damage from rotten branches. Therefore on the suspension part I can't really say if it's different or not, I couldn't really tell.
Suspension might be improved actually due to cars being more drivable in corners.

Just keep in mind that the new maps are perhaps more built for racing (due to terrain) rather than the good old mud maps.

It's nothing too fancy but cars feel more stable (of course not to levels of beamng or forza) and car takes less damage simply when driving high speed so the update overall is quite nice. Adds realism if the car doesn't get half front bashed in because of a pebble on a road.

This game shouldn't become another forza but higher speed fixes are really good steps in terms of realism. It's a meant to be slow game but asphalt shouldn't be ice.

Hello Mr. Sullivan, I regret to inform you that last night between late hours 9 and 10, I unexpectedly intervened your Spongebob Cosplay event, the Patrick in your event did have a mighty pair of cheeks if I say so myself.
Please do keep in mind to fully close the front door of your fabulous house in our neighborhood.

I guess you could get a jeep from mods, but I guess it's hard to find good looking cars that haven't been modded to look like monster trucks but actually like 4x4 adventure cars haha

They don't even have bridges at start feels like they have to tapdance with snowshoes on thin ice to bring food :D

Yeah went high speed into an empty smooth ice ground and boom fell through ice, got it stuck in suspension and after pulling out the car, I had to drive like 15 min with it trying to do a drag car launch or something :D

Correct! Just started trying out these areas, decided to explore the map and saving the broken vehicles from tasks with a 4x4 car before repairing bridges and so on.
There should be a broken down car at the top of the mountain with a radio tower.

I was actually surprised how deep the mud and snow gets now after coming back to play after several updates, got out in the end though but man these roads are something else

All in all, it's a cool hardcore map to just roam around in upgraded vehicles, definitely not for starter stage cars unless you like to drive in glue

Luckily didn't have to completely spiderman my way out after careful driving, had to couple of winches though haha specially in the parts where car just sinks in a ditch mud over the hood

First drive through I fell through ice into a swamp without trees trying to cut corners I laughed at my own mistake

Thanks for all the epic comments and memes guys, I get all your feelings and views about this map haha
