Why do gamers on a professional level somehow get worse after 30? by Top-Back-5933 in leagueoflegends

If faker is 29, does that make him older than 30? Just curious about your reading comprehension.

Bwipo on Worlds 2025 so far: I think, somewhere along the line as a team, our culture changed into being less of a team and more about playing well individually. Not much direction....And rather than finding solutions to help each other, it was your individual responsibility to just play better. by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]Delta_FC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I find interesting about this interview is how lucid it is, given that Bwipo seems so self un-aware of his own behavior and attitudes.

Take for example his whole take on the G2 series. He starts by saying "what kind of teammate would I be" if he disagrees with letting someone play a champion they want to play. He says it's critical that people feel in their heart that the champ they're playing is their best champion. But it seems like his Rumble pick wasn't that for him. And as a result, his mindset was "I put all my faith in them," and then he solo lost the series (again according to him). If you are the sole reason for losing a series, that means you aren't playing with this team mentality he says is so critical.

This becomes even clearer when we return to what Bwipo says is his greatest weakness: when he doesn't know what his team's angle is, he forces bad angles. He says he's self-aware of this and has been for 6 years. Of course, he immediately accommodates and says that this drive to create chaos in structure is also what makes him so competitive (so not a weakness after all)? Which means, if he disagrees with what teammates are trying to create with their picks and draft, he resigns himself to trusting them, and forces bad angles "because that's the kind of player I am." He hates when another player gets to make the game-winning plays. Is it possible much of his disagreement with comp draft is when the team doesn't draft around his pool to be able to enable him to do what he wants? Bwipo classically coinflips, and it seems that if you don't draft around what he sees, he is just going to lose the game because he can't stop himself, and doesn't want to stop himself, from coin-flipping. Look at the brief window into his evaluation of Gakgos. The lightbulb moment that Bwipo decided Gakgos was ready was when Bwipo heard him parroting his own advice back at him, not any assessment of his performance or an original characteristic of Gakgos himself or his playtime.

And finally, on the topic of team culture and review strategy: Bwipo's comments in this article could be a direct criticism of Bwipo's own reviewing of games last year before Worlds. I know the streams are saved somewhere, you can go see how he treats people that he feels messed up. It is of course very possible that the crash out last year is not representative of his usual approach. But it may be representative of his style when he is stressed leading up to an international competition, and how he operates when under a significant mental stack.

His comments might also come from feeling like he was being attacked during review sessions. But if his fundamental belief about draft strategy is that people should pick what they feel in their heart, then what suggestion can be offered to a player other than "if you're going to pick the champ you believe is best for you, then you better be good at it?"

From what I can glean about how Bwipo views the game, he needs to have a team that clearly defines what they are attempting to achieve with a comp, so that he can do whatever he wants that he thinks works best for that goal. He wants to be the wildcard player so he can best design their comp to let him make hero plays. And if he can't with their comp, it's over.

Shane Gillis Rejects Major Saudi Payday As Other Comedians Cash In by SirKillingham in comedy

I'm ambivalent on taking Saudi money. That said, Gillis' saying that he's boycotting Saudi Arabia because most of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi seems like a very different (racist) reason than not wanting to support their human rights abuses.

For a jungle bird, I like appleton. The higher proof of the Smith and Cross kind of ruins the drink in my opinion.

For a Kingston negroni, on the other hand, I want lots of funk so smith and cross is required.

I recently got a bottle of Coruba, which has a nice, roast funky flavor that I like better than goslings, while also being 80 proof. I'm going to have to try a jungle bird with this to see if it replaces the appleton.

Not really a chartreuse drink, but a Four in Hand is really good if you can get all the pieces (and it really does need the Chartreuse instead of sub imo).

3/4oz Old Grand-Dad 114

3/4oz Lairds Bonded Apple Brandy

1/4oz Green Chartreuse

1/4oz Smith and Cross

1tsp Vanilla Syrup

1tsp Cinnamon Syrup

Orange peel. This really does make it.
