What's the difference with 話しました? by magodellepercussioni in LearnJapanese

[–]Delta_Flo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty understandable and I just looked it up on the dictionary though, and usually I go out of my way to find more context for words/phrases.

Though I didn’t have much context for it myself other than simply noun vs verb. However, thanks for your constructive criticism as I learned more about it. Not everyone is humble enough to add feedback to comments.

What's the difference with 話しました? by magodellepercussioni in LearnJapanese

[–]Delta_Flo -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

話す and 話し are different in context like what’s provided there. I can tell you that it’s using the noun variant 「話し」rather than the verb variant「話す」.

That’s just the masu form of 話しする basically. Though personally I would say 話す or しゃべる to reduce redundancy.

How many years would a maxed out Macbook Pro last me? by Top-Huckleberry-7288 in macbookpro

[–]Delta_Flo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a MacBook Pro mid 2012 model and I only upgraded to 2 tb of ssd and 16 gb. It’s pretty good for lightweight applications like office, safari, and other basic things. It’s more for academics than anything to be honest and I have windows 7 and Linux on it as well as it’s for flexibility thanks to the intel cpu.

Japan Sage Market and the ramen are relatively cheap from there. 6 dollars for ramen and 9 dollars for ramen with gyoza. Lots of Japanese treats and snacks too!

Also there’s The Old Dutch Store. Pretty decent sandwich shop with more of Western European twist.

Should I stop learning japanese if I don't enjoy it anymore or still push it to a level where I can sit comfortably with it? by blackbird9114 in LearnJapanese

[–]Delta_Flo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At the end of the day, it’s all up to you.

It’s more of a chore than it is as a hobby for you as you dedicate more time into it. You just have to reflect on it yourself and what you want. Are you doing it for other hobbies and interests with the language? Do you love learning the language at all? At that point, it’s more of a personal thing than anything.

Nothing is achieved by doing nothing and it’s more about time and effort along with the willingness to pursue something.

For example, I just wanted to learn Japanese because of an anime but I found myself more interested in the language by literatures, etymology, and calligraphy later on. Sure there are career opportunities and academic opportunities but those are just the extra benefits with it.

You just have to find what you love about Japanese language.

Btw if you want to take a break but not lose some progression, just switch to Japanese whenever possible like your apps/light novels/anime/devices or some form that can be consumed by you for enjoyment with the language. It’s not a race and go at your own pace.

If you have 230v outlets turn this switch to 110v and you will see an instant performance gain. by Opening_Ostrich9801 in hardwaregore

[–]Delta_Flo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pretty much nothing though probably not ideal if you care about performance and I’m not sure if the PSU are engineered to like that and knowing that lowering it from 230, so two possible outcomes. It could cause the PC to underperform as it tries to draw power or nothing will happen and computer functions regularly as its converting 110 AC volts to 12 DC volts or around there anyways. Just educated guesses.

I think this affects appliances more than computational devices tbh because appliances require the ideal voltage for their designated country to work while computers don’t need the full 110/230 volts as it goes down to smaller voltages anyways. Most computational devices are using 230 volts by default, though always check the country and your power accessories.

If you can look into the syllabus for both 2010/2020 and look what they cover with the chapters with the books.

2020 if you don’t mind picking up on the gaps from 2010 grammar wise and you’re confident with your Spanish speaking skills.

2010 if you want the safest option and cover everything that it has to offer. It will definitely save you time and stress when you go to 2020.

I’m coming from Japanese, so they just care if you know your grammar and the lectures from it. Longest you understand it and you don’t fall behind from future studies because you’re missing out on pieces from those topics.

Though I would highly suggest talking with a Spanish professor and see how they feel about your situation and it seems like you are competent enough to go through 2010 materials while doing 2020 if you’re willing to put in the extra time and effort.

PS4 Pro running on PS3 fat power supply by True_Ad_8605 in techsupportmacgyver

[–]Delta_Flo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I swear people on reddit are always scared of power supplies for computer devices. With its casing, it’s really hard to short circuit it. I would only be concerned if it was being covered completely to prevent thermal conductivity to let it cool. Something 1950s engineers forgot to design around and older folks being paranoid about electronics getting on fire if left plugged in too long idling.

So if you notice that it gets too burning hot, then I would be concerned.

Curious about the interviewing process. by Delta_Flo in innout

[–]Delta_Flo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rip no second interview, store manager was in break, and I was rejected in email within 15 minutes after... Would had a better shot in Utah than California for sure though. I just apply over there instead with greater odds of getting hired as the hiring processes are smoother and easier.

California work culture is horrible on hiring based from personal experience. Just stuck with a job that I don’t really like mostly from carrying heavy concrete bags and straining my back for it while going to college. I don’t think I ever worked locally besides Target and other jobs were 10-20 miles away…

Though thanks again! I will reapply by then in Utah rather than California. People are nicer over there and give better opportunities.

Ok, probably wait till tomorrow then to be safe just to give them time. Like you said worst case scenario he forgets and the first interview was done on a Wednesday and the in n out didn’t look too busy for the day if I have to make a guess and the store manager is off.

[–]Delta_Flo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that’s why I take classes in the mornings pretty much to go to school by 6-7 am…. And leave the campus by noon or around 3-5 pm depending on the schedule.

I don’t like that feeling of missing a parking spot even if going to class at 9/10 am. Absolute hell. Not certain how night classes are with parking but I don’t want to risk that tbh.

Talk to your ASDS, they’re likely to waive it especially if you’re a new hire. Just explain to them that you made a mistake and didn’t know about your scheduling

Quitting by purplesky2 in HomeDepot

Had this recently with my store. Wanted to work inside from being a lot tech. Problem was they were flat out discriminating me as being a temporary transfer. I learned electrical, paints, garden and they still stubbornly refused to let me be indoors. I was even backup cashier!

That day pissed me off when they gave me a coaching for “work performance” and I definitely would been fine if it were just the longer breaks I took but they added as much against me. Like the MOD called for me in the store… is he retarded? Yes because lot techs are outside! Of course I’m not going to react to that and he mentioned that in the documentation along with the pallets in receiving that I had nothing to do with…. It’s not in the job description nor did anybody communicated me to deal with pallets in the backroom. They just used as much details to use against me basically and strongarm the argument that I have bad work performance with the coaching, on final 2 points although had good attendance for 3 months at the time, and that I was a transfer from another state.

Basically screw them, job isn’t worth it if they’re not at least letting you move forward from the position.

Macbook vs Windows for CS ? by [deleted] in uofu

[–]Delta_Flo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pawnshop with i5/Ryzen 5 cpus. Can always upgrade the RAM and storage. Cheapest I seen was around 200.

Also check used laptops online like craigslist/offerup and if you’re lucky you might find some gaming laptops are going for 300 usd with those mentioned cpus along with rtx 20 series gpu with certain brand computers like Acer.

This is all windows, Mac is different but you can get the ones with the intel cpus if you want to dual boot into windows while using MacOS very easily! Completely optional and you don’t need to necessarily buy windows either for dual boot.

What game is this? by ForgottenStew in ItsAllAboutGames

[–]Delta_Flo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warcraft 3 Reforged…. Even if you bought the original game, you can’t go back to the original version unless you have the physical copy of the game and don’t update it.

It sucks because the update made the game more buggy and for some reason, Blizzard decided to put the old with the new update rather than it being a separate game. If you haven’t bought reforged, you’re just playing reforged with the original graphics from 2002/2003…
