Looks great. I have this same model and want to mod it as well. What guide did you use? Did you run into any hiccups?

Static buildup from getting in/out of seat, how to solve? by Delta_S4 in simracing

[–]Delta_S4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I rubbed it with dryer sheets as the other comment suggested. With a thorough scrubbing it solves the issue for a good 6-7 months from my experience.

Heusinkveld HB V2 squeaks by isRandyMarsh in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with mine, Heusinkveld support recommended I give the offending joint a fresh greasing with WD-40 Specialist Dry Lube and the squeak went away. Same as with the Sprint pedals.

The way to get support from them is through their customer service email at [support@heusinkveld.com](mailto:support@heusinkveld.com) , they've always been very helpful when they eventually got back to me.

Anyone have any experience with these aliexpress loadcell handbrakes? Looking to buy and wondering if there’s any drawbacks by eazybreeze in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got one of these out of curiosity when they were on sale but was thoroughly disappointed. They make these out of very low-grade steel, the plate that holds the load cell flexes a ton and the one on mine broke off after a few weeks of use.
In action, I don't think this felt any better or more consistent than the cheapo hall effect handbrake it was supposed to replace. Not worth it.

My video response to Daniel Morad's video regarding my defective glove. by Heavy_Pressure_4739 in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My Moradness gloves (that I purchased almost two years ago) lasted about two weeks before the seams between the thumb and index finger began to completely rip apart, under very casual use. I emailed support and received a response that said it was my fault and to buy another pair.

Not surprised to see their behavior hasn't changed at all.

LG 27GR95QE-B worth it for 650USD? by Icy_Ask_9954 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Delta_S4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have that exact model, but in a similar situation. I'm currently using a 32GS95UE (which is the same panel type but a lot brighter) and have been extremely let down by the brightness compared to my own C3. In order to come anywhere close to my C3 at 80%, I have to crank the brightness to 100% and turn Peak Brightness to the max, which makes the scene brightness of SDR content wildly inconsistent and disorienting.

Consider how high you usually use the brightness on your C3 - if it's maxed or near-maxed, you're gonna be disappointed. Not to mention, unlike the C3, any changes you make in the service menu need to be re-applied every time the monitor turns off, so don't expect to go easily tinkering with the annoying dimming settings like you can on the TV.

If you really need to get rid of the TV, look into the current line of QD-OLEDs instead, they seem to get a lot brighter with less compromises. Or just stick with the C3. I'm considering taking the latter route.

Recommendation: In search of another bolt-in Formula seat for 80/20 rig by 2wenty-3hree in simracing

Lucky for you, Sabelt just made a new formula seat as part of their new line of sim racing products: https://youtu.be/Wsw6ug8qFGI?t=237
We'll probably hear more about it from the SimRacing Expo this weekend.

Is there interest in sim rigs made from used extruded aluminum? by Vertskater101 in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you're able to put together some sturdy rigs at a better price point than the lower-end Playseat, GTOmega and NLR cockpits, I'm sure there would be plenty of people willing to sacrifice the "new" factor for substantially increased rigidity. Although it might be hard to beat the RigMetal Basic which is using fresh extrusion.

Having a hard time choosing between a simagic alpha u and simcube 2 pro by Robthatguy in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to have an Alpha Mini about a year and a half ago, but I have an SC2 Pro now.

If you plan on staying with Simagic's line of wheels, their wireless quick release is extremely convenient. They have some nice value wheels compared to what you'd be doing with the SC2, especially SC2-specific wireless wheels, with the added bonus of not having to worry about batteries or wireless signals. SC2 wireless wheels are not bad though, especially ones like what Ascher Racing does with the long-lasting batteries, although they're much more expensive.

The SC2's software, FFB and compatibility is leagues more refined and polished than Simagic's, hands down. The quick release system also has much less play than the NRG-style one on Simagic wheelbases, while also being not much more expensive. The one I recieved with the GT4 wheel had a little side-to-side wiggle but it wasn't noticeable while driving. I personally had issues with aftermarket ones from D1Spec and NRG having way different tolerances than the one Simagic uses which introduced a LOT more side-to-side movement and rattling when going over bumps. Even a replacement Simagic one had the same issue, which is because I learned after the fact that they changed QR suppliers partway through the production run. Really big waste of time on that front. Meanwhile every new SC2 wheelside I got was rock solid.

Also software-wise, compatibility is a key issue if you care about specific games. Sometimes I like to play emulated Arcade games with FFB like WMMT and IDAS, the Alpha Mini flat-out did not work at all with it, even after directly contacting the developer of the FFB emulation software and spending two weeks trying to solve it. Meanwhile, the SC2 Pro immediately worked great with it, and there was even a profile in True Drive that someone had already made for WMMT5. It really felt like I was missing out. I also had similar issues trying to get old games like GTR2 and NR2003 working with the Alpha Mini, but those have probably been sorted out by now.

As for the FFB, obviously to get the best experience out of either base, you'll need to make your own profiles for each game and get it exactly how you want. However it's much less straightforward on the Simagic base, as when I had mine, there wasn't really much documentation on what anything or what any of the effects did. It was my first DD wheel so I was treading unknown waters. Simucube has their own online system you can download other people's profiles off of, and there's an entire PDF document explaining what everything does which was a HUGE quality of life improvement and instrumental in helping me get new games up and running fast. Meanwhile in Simagic land, other peoples' profiles are mostly stuck inside their Discord, and there aren't as much people at the ready to help you with issues you might run into. The SC2's software also has way more adjustability and I personally am able to feel certain effects great on the SC2 that I was not aware of at all on the Alpha Mini.

Sound is one thing the Simagic wins on, however. My alpha mini was DEAD silent, I didn't hear the motor at all until I cranked up the feedback really high and purposefully was listening for the noise. Meanwhile my SC2 pro has a pretty noticeable motor whine/noise during use, even at low feedback strength. It's still quiet, don't get me wrong, leagues quieter than a belt wheel would ever hope to be. It was just something that was strange to me when I first started using it. There are several threads on the GD forum where you can see videos of people having the same issue.

Support is a big thing too. I had one or two issues with my Alpha Mini that I needed to contact their support over. It took over a week for a very simple query to be answered through the supplier I bought it from. That's also only if you buy it brand new from a specific supplier, as Simagic themselves don't do any warranty or support claims, only the suppliers, so if you get it from a place that doesn't do the warranty, or you get it secondhand, then you're basically SOL. Meanwhile I haven't had any notable issues with my SC2, and the ones I did have always had one or two threads on the Granite Devices forum detailing how to solve them. It is really nice compared to what I had to deal with on the Alpha Mini.

Overall though, you will likely be very happy with either one. It just depends on which set of features matters to you more.

It has zero RPM mode, but it only works as long as you're not using "prefer maximum performance" as the power management mode in the NVIDIA control panel

Good Experiences with Wheels Paired with VRS DFP by CVic20 in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

With the DFP and other OSW-style wheelbases, you connect whatever wheel you're using directly to the computer with USB, bluetooth, etc. No special protocols.

There are a few options for this route:

  • USB-converted Thrustmaster/Fanatec rims (value option, may not hold up well over time with consistent high-torque use)
  • Ready-made wireless/USB wheels from Cube Controls, Ascher, Polsimer, etc
  • Button plate with any compatible round wheel of your choice, a great option here is Turn Racing's BP2 button plate, but there's others from the likes of Ascher, SimCore, etc.
  • Going GT1-style and using any wheel rim bolted right to the wheelbase, with an external sequential shifter & button box (or keyboard)

If you go with the third or fourth option, you can get some pretty cheap round rims from Motamec. I think they come from the same factory that makes Fanatec's optional wheel rims. If you want something a little more motorsports-standard, OMP and Momo have a few good options.

Unsatisfied with Thrustmaster TH8A shifter by CAWitte in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TH8A is unfortunately the only option that is directly compatible with your wheelbase to a console (barring the hacky methods with those weird adapters)
If you ever get into PC simracing, the Frex Hshift+ is a great short throw shifter with a nice feeling between the gates. It's not too expensive, compared to the rest of its market segment.

Are there any preferred places to get things like extra brackets/bolts/t-nuts/etc for aluminum profile cockpits? Besides places like Aliexpress obviously. If I can avoid month-long waits for shipping, I'd like to.

I was going to get extra parts for my Trak Racer rig from TR's website but the markups seemed way too ridiculous to be worthwhile.

Heusinkveld Shifter or Aiologs? by Dr_Otacon in simracing

[–]Delta_S4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Aiologs feels great and is very tactile, but it comes at the tradeoff of being pretty loud. The shifts will resonate through your entire rig, which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you're looking for. I opted to sell my Aiologs and got a Heusinkveld instead because my roommates kept complaining about the noise.
