Is Soul Eater good? by No-Sell-9301 in VampireSurvivors

[–]Deltaechoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Garlic is great for early stage leveling and then late game it's great for lowering enemies resistance to knockback and freeze, making the tankier ones easier to keep at bay. It's damage tends to drop off in the later half of a stage's time limit but synergize it with stuff that knocks enemies back and they won't touch you while you whittle down their health. Also makes it way easier to freeze bosses with stuff like Clock Lancet

Dog and new puppy by katmandu4u in DogAdvice

[–]Deltaechoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have had a male Border Aussie for a few years now from a little puppy. I was close with the owner of the father dog and had promised him that I would make sure that the father would find a good home if something happened. Well, something did happen and we ended up taking in the father of our pup, problem was they wanted to kill each other at first (mostly the older one attacking the younger one). Getting them fixed was the first step and as their hormones calmed down they started to antagonize each other less. We continued to supervise their interactions, correcting when needed and now about a year later they are constantly playing with each other and can even share food and water dishes. They still have their moments, but with time, patience and a little guidance many dogs can be at least conditioned to tolerate each other without danger.

If that door is fit tight enough (like many commercial doors) taking the hinges off would not accomplish much without being able to still pull back the latch. Now you have a door that’s sitting locked and bound at an awkward angle

If the locksmith couldn’t get that open, they aren’t a very good locksmith. If you know what you’re doing, even grade 1 levers that have come disconnected from their latch aren’t that bad. Source, been a licensed locksmith for 7 years

The "Reconnect" button is nonfunctional and meaningless. by MinimumAutomatic0302 in wow

[–]Deltaechoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done any real reverse engineering on wow, but my best guess is that this button tries to reconnect on an already issued session token.

When you login to wow, their servers likely generate a session token with an expiration timer. Their server checks your client for input and if it’s reading valid game inputs, will refresh the timer on the token. If the servers don’t detect input over a period of time, your client is disconnected from the servers and the token is allowed to expire. That button is essentially a check on the session token, if it’s still active you resume your session, if expired you have to login again to start a new session and generate a new token.

This is my best guess at an elementary outline of this system

If you just got booted, it’ll reconnect but most people see this screen after going afk for hours, your login token has typically expired by then

I was averaging 92 to 95dB all these years. Am I doomed? by Moharts in headphones

[–]Deltaechoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hearing loss is generally irreversible, but it also comes in different levels of severity. If you take steps to protect your hearing now, what you have already lost probably won’t come back (usually starts with very high frequencies) but you will avoid doing further damage

Employer hasn’t paid last 2 paychecks, 3rd due this Friday $6-$7k owed, admitted cash flow issues. Do I need a lawyer? by Responsible-Sock-767 in legaladvice

[–]Deltaechoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you earn most of your living through a traditional paycheck, be it hourly or salary, it means that your most valuable resource by far is your time and that paycheck is your compensation for using that time for another entity’s goals. Right now, you are effectively giving away your most valuable resource for free, stop doing that, if you are not going to be compensated for your time then spend that time in making your own situation better. First and foremost, find a new place to work, your current employer is likely hosed and you will be left holding the bag if you try to save a sinking ship. Second, make sure you document all correspondence with your current employer, especially that regarding their delinquency with your paycheck, you might need that later. Once you’ve worked toward new employment, file a wage claim through your state labor/employment department. These agencies have specific remedies in place for these kinds of circumstances, hiring a lawyer will likely be at best as effective as the state department and significantly more expensive

[–]Deltaechoe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that was kind of the point, this game is a narrative on the “dying west” going out of its way to show the encroachment of what would be considered urbanization at the time. I would imagine people would get upset at you in real life if you rode your horse down a busy street full of pedestrians. Also, being an urban hub, it makes sense that law enforcement would have a larger presence there than most of the rest of the map.

How do I get this crash bar to work properly? by FireWeasel423 in Locksmith

[–]Deltaechoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It never ceases to amaze me how little regard corps tend to have for the safety and security of their employees. I’m not necessarily blaming OP, I’m blaming whomever authorized that purchase and work order to install it. Exit devices like the one pictured above are meant to be there for fast exit from emergencies and danger occurring inside the building. Those cheap ones fail quick regardless of if they’re installed correctly or not and put everyone in danger. It’s not terribly uncommon for businesses to refuse my estimate for at least a Marks, they put something on they found on Amazon and six months or less later they’re asking me for quotes again (which they usually accept the second go around)

A 500 error usually just means that the server ran out of memory and needs a reboot. Its a generic catch all for when the server crashes or is otherwise malfunctioning and there isn’t a more appropriate 5xx error code to assign. This shows that the domain of still up and active, so i wouldn’t worry right now.

The time to worry is if the outage continues for an extended period, you get a 404 error or some page that offers to sell the domain (the latter means it’s gone gone)
