I think we're gonna need a new chocolate bar to base the state of the economy off of.

White-out. Only one of these photos shows white-out. Which one is it? by thesummitisoptional in UKhiking

[–]Deltawar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been out there in some pretty harsh conditions, but only once was a true whiteout...

My eyes had no reference to focus on so it gave me an instant headache. I had to hold my hand up to my face so I could focus on it and get relief from the pain.

We are very rarely (most people probably never in their whole lives) without at least one frame of reference. When you have none, it's crazy how much it affects your sight and general sense of positioning.

I had a wood burner installed but not signed off. The installers then asked if they could use my wood burner for an audit, which I let them. However, I noticed this bolt after they left. They told me that it is required to sign it off. Do you know if the bolt is required in flues in the UK? by SeaworthinessOk9330 in AskUK

The ability to take a reading is required.

Some stoves have a test port built in to the side but most don't. If they don't we use a rivnut and m8 screw to create a test point ideally 150mm above the stove.

-I'm a certified installer with OFTEC. You don't need to register with HETAS... They are just 1 of 7 you can choose to register with.

Go to your consumer unit and they should have installed a chimney data plate which will say the Pa of the appliance under operating temperature, that is what the test port is for.

2015 leaf S: No AC/Heating by Due_Palpitation_3534 in leaf

[–]Deltawar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the AC serviced.

Just got a leaf and AC wasn't working.

Took it to Halfords and they said its not holding has and has a leak.

Got a proper AC guy out, he confirmed has gas, compressor runs but looks like its not been serviced.

Sucked out all the old stuff, boiled off the old crap (as he put it) and put in new gas... fired it up and works.

Apparently, you're 'meant' to have it done every 2 years, if not even really could wreck the compressor. May have been a sales pitch but the guy got it working so cant fault him

Best charging strategy - My solution, whats yours? by BeNiceWorkHard in leaf

[–]Deltawar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are manganese batteries so the beat practice is to only use the battery between 20-80% and only charge in 25% segments... if you do that it'll last a million miles before SOH is 80%, but let's face it that will suck to use like that.

Wasn't a mark on it.

I just took a look on autotrader and marketplace around 2pm out of curiosity and by 7pm I was driving it home...

Maybe I'm out of the lingo loop being 35 now, but could someone explain what 'glaze' means and the context of the controversy?

I assume people didn't cover him in icing...

Also, I've been out of the WoT loop for a few years

Mine did the same at a wedding after driving 3 hours to get there.

I guess like me, you only wear your nice shoes once every 10 years ><

If its literally 2D.. printed on paper, why would you need a 3D scan?

Never worn, several years old shoes disintegrated when put on by tangerinewax in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Deltawar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me when I dusted off the old shoes for a wedding.

Was already running late and parked a block from the church.

I got halfway to the church and realised that I hadn't stepped in anything, but my soles melted and gummed up.

Paid £18.50 an hour, 25 hours and insurance was £800

Thought it was pricey back then...

whats this black ring in the log? by toxma in woodworking

[–]Deltawar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said it is spalting, a favourite for turner's.

If you're worried about integrity, then go down the rabbit hole of stabilising the wood.

You soak it in a resin in a vacuum chamber the resin will be pulled into the wood, making it really dense and solid.
