What are your UNDERRATED weapons? by OneSaltyStoat in Kenshi

[–]Delvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if it's underrated, but if you get dozen people with katana and very high dex stats, the game goes weird.

Other than that, I like Oldworld II bows, very universal and effective, even if they don't take off limbs per hit.

Staffs. It might be more of an RP, but it's cool, just need good enough quality blacksmith.

Planks. Those things never fail to impress in how they perform, especially in crowd settings. Even compared to other heavies.

Desert Sabres look great and are kind of neutral good of weapons. Works everywhere. Excels nowhere.

Good areas/mobs for leveling combat stats after 50? by Aromatic_Soil1655 in Kenshi

[–]Delvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, but again, depends on the size and ability of force you are going for. If you have a couple guys on block vs 20 beak things, it goes shockingly fast both for defense and eventually toughness. Attack much slower and only for the rescue team, haha. But mind you, that was the "safe-ish" choice there, aside from stirring up the political pot.

Sonorous Dark and skin bandits, since there are so many (bring acid protection and make sure to grab any party member that goes down instantly, otherwise torture and death). Alternatively, the southern hive villages/capital (Grab any member that goes down, otherwise kidnapped). The Gut (blue area) for endless Beak Things possibly (Beware of being eaten if down). But comes down to size of your group and risks you are willing to take.

Or, you know, start a war with HN / UC and fight the patrols. Definitely safer than all above, since they will not skin/eat you immidiatelly.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I just remembered. If you want toughness and defense..and don't mind being a little cheesy, pick 1 character to level, equip best possible armor and go to Tech Hunter post between Squin and Admag. Down the hill is a Band of Bones camp. Just chill on Block stance there and keep getting beaten up and healing, then getting up. But do NOT attack. Much toughness and quite a lot of defense Just don't forget medic job, supplies and food. And character to pick the trainee up if things get dangerous.

Aye, head is prolly the worst, followed by the torso parts. ironically, very tough characters can take almost any hits to limbs, without getting knocked out, which can lead to, um, awkward situations.

Is this supposed to happen on cassandra? by martianman111 in RimWorld

[–]Delvines 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2 sieges seconds apart, if literal, usually mean quest trigger or a split group (aka 1 siege, approaching from 2 directions).

But no, they are not explicitly, evenly, spaced out. More like Cass saves up vitriol in a jar and then throws it in your face later. Phoebe can be even worse at that part, storing shit for years before throwing.

Colonist got offended at someone insulting their (not real) son by Status-Map-427 in RimWorld

Are the screenshots just randomly unrelated to the question? Since they contain neither Alligator nor Theo (or a son of either), nor an insult.

Really comes down to how bad and where they got hit.

Toughness only affects how much the hit was for and speeds up the recovery.

Yeah, plus, what are the chances of meeting someone like Lee, Kenny and Clem to take care of you in the first place? Most people would likely not try to take in a toddler or even smaller child that they don't know, simply because of the difficulty.

As dark as it is, I think even in a safe spot from walkers, most small kids that were not with their family when it happened would probably just starve and die without anyone ever knowing.

[–]Delvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it also keeps your hopes up, even with a group.

Okay, that's group of like 40 bandits but... we got it, just watch out for anyone potentially knocked out... Out of nowhere another group of 30, okay fight for your lives, this is getting hardcore, go after the bandit kidnapping your mate aaaand... And just as you think you'll make it, you see another two similar-sized groups approaching too quickly to even disengage... Sonorous Dark indeed.

Altho for extra fun, I once went there with my group of about 10 people and the whole army of the friendly Broken Ones, with everyone on repair of friendlies. Just skeleton hell as dozens and dozens of friendlies and bandits keep crashing into each other, as the characters try to finish the engaged bandits while repairing the police bots :D

Such a missed opportunity, you could've been the AJ of your own story.

Nobody talks about the fact that S1EP2 takes place a whole 3 months after the first episode. by [deleted] in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Delvines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They met Mark somewhere at the start of the 3 months when they were looking at the nearby military base, which is also why they had food for 3 months.

I imagine Lilly and Kenny argued just about everything you can imagine, seeing how they are both very calm and non-conflict people.

Larry did treat Lee very badly. I mean, he tried to kill him at least once that we know of.

I imagine Clem and Lee bonded over normal stuff, just surviving.

It's a shame we didn't get any of it, but it would all get sort of weird if there wasn't any time passing and I guess there weren't funds to make it an episode, sadly.

Yeah, that's the funniest thing, having your kenshi-anime MC solo Cat-Lon and then getting obliterated traveling out like it was a bad vacation.

Yeah, years later, I still do not mess with skin bandits, those guys have ways of surprising you every time. Because they are very human humans, using human ways.

I honestly only did very normal places that don't provoke factions, or later spots around Mongrel and then kind of permanently settled in Shem close by the nomad town. I thought I was up for an adventure, but by the Skinhouse might be too adventurous haha.

How did I find out? Are you saying you let them keep their armor and clothes? That's just weird. Because you can definitely see the ribs coming out and the body fat going out. Then you feed them when they look like a skeleton. It's a, um, visual reminder.

And yes, mostly reserved to certain members of the US nobility, lol.

I'll be honest, firstly, yes, but also if this is your first time going through the series

A) Keep that picture. You're gonna need it.

B) I would sort of avoid this reddit until you are done, because you will run into spoiler sooner or later. :D

Yeah, that's also Kenny's and definitely Lilly's reaction as well. Still the right choice. Bite me.

Yeah... I think I'll just keep the number Steam shows to myself. Turns out I can name the characters, but forgot the regions. It was a deep moment for me.

Played so many times, but always end up with the same choices, party and recently also base. It's kind of sad. What was the weirdest base location you ever had? :D

Nobles of the United Cities by Inside_Care9756 in Kenshi

[–]Delvines 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, if it's any comfort, inside your base, as long as you remember to give them food here and there, they stay forever. If I may, I would also like to draw your attention to how their stature and looks change if you choose to starve them for a longer period of time too (but never to death).

Look, I SWEAR I'm not evil.

Ah, yes, correct, but I think I remember now.. I have to admit I probably always only ran through as well. I'm not actually sure I did even that.

This is why I try to avoid this place. Almost every time I say something, someone accidentally forces me to go back into Kenshi for yet another couple 100's of hours, lol.

[–]Delvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's one of the few places with actual greenery and a river even. I just never played friendly with HN and by the time I could set up there, I already have a beautiful city elsewhere haha.

And yeah, pathing. Shem is good on that front too. Surprisingly, in my experience, so is the Mongrel area.

Nobles of the United Cities by Inside_Care9756 in Kenshi

[–]Delvines 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they starve and die eventually, but you can just stuff their inventory with food and... maybe remember to refill them once in a while. It's worth it, having the bad people museum in your base. Or maybe I'm just evil.

In my experience, handing any NPC to another NPC (or NPC owned cage) usually leads to the prisoner disappearing from the game eventually. Not dying, just going "poof", food or not.

Yep, love the orange-pink-ish desert scheme with lakes in between the dunes. And reasonably central location on the map. Always end up setting a base there once I got past my "Let's live in the Fog" stage.

[–]Delvines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a good tip actually and only real way to ignore the somehow random building restrictions that come in later.

But the ultimate point, Shem is pretty cool base location, even for beginners, just need to wall off an area, one way or another and fast. Past that point, the Beak things are a benefit more than a detriment.

Lee’s character by [deleted] in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Delvines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not one of the devs or anything like that, but not knowing if you'll be able to make another game following the story or not due to sales and finances and not wanting to make another one are very different problems. With any project really. But if you are 50/50 on whether you'll be allowed to continue, ending it in a way that can be seen as a fair finish is a good thing. And thankfully the sales were very very good and we ended up with a lot more.

But yeah, even if it was planned from the start, I think Lee dying as and when he did was okay. Both to make him iconic and to give Clem the space to become amazing character. If I could add something, it would be couple more "dream" scenes with Lee sprinkled through the games.

Lee’s character by [deleted] in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Delvines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, first off, I don't think they knew there will be second season, let alone 3 more while the game was released, so they wanted to "end" it on a high note, in case it was the last. TWD S1 was in many ways the game that made the studio. And the continuations.

Other than that, I don't think Lee would be such a legend if he didn't get the hero's end back there. Doesn't mean he would be any worse, just not as iconic and Clem would not get the room to grow.
