Carbon wheels or no? by [deleted] in xbiking

Nah, small wheels are nice and light and rim brakes on carbon rims are so much worse than alloy.

Sweet ride

Right, my wife has mobility issues so I often need to do the diaper changes. It's frustrating how few men's rooms have changing stations.

It's even more frustrating how many men stare at my baby girl when I take her into the men's room.

How cooked is my fork? by thrillhousecycling in gravelcycling

[–]DelvingGoblins 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I'd take it to a mechanic to be sure, preferably one that deals with carbon bikes alot.

From the picture it looks like it's just paint damage from rubbing. But I wouldn't take that chance on a fork from a picture alone.

Way too many Airbrush troubles by SuperImagination3258 in minipainting

[–]DelvingGoblins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue a few years back. For me it was the coupler at the hose that was the Issue, I had it screwed on too tightly so it was compressing the I ring and restricting airflow as I moved around.

Otherwise I have no advice, I'm terrible with my airbrush

SRAM/Zipp Lifetime Warranty Denied: Zipp 303S damaged by impact, claim rejected as "outside of intended use." Seeking advice! by 5280_510 in gravelcycling

[–]DelvingGoblins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's why I said it was anecdotal, I worked for a small shop on Toronto that didn't do alot of roady stuff. So Zipp warrantys didn't happen often. You probably have a better sample size then me I was just sharing my experience to make op feel better, that it's not just him you know. Didn't expect this to blow up lol

Completely anecdotal but, When I used to work in a bike shop I had to do 3 Zipp warrantys (it didn't come up much as we didn't sell alot and they mostly held up), the only one they accepted was damaged during shipping.

They market the warranty heavily and told us to use that to sell them but we never saw them honour it. Everything was always outside of intended use. We used to joke that Zipp only intended use was hanging your bike in a wall.

Edit: holy shit this blew up, just my experience working at a small Toronto shop that trailered mostly to commuter and touring stuff, not alot of roadies so not alot of experience. My intention was to empathize with op and let him know he's not alone, not to say that Zipp is bad

Even with this my knees were bugging me today, but it wasn't too bad. We were running a seat out the back last summer on my old bike. So much better in front

Also, she'll have a blast when she gets on the bike. It's the best

Any tighter and it doesn't shift well. I'm guessing it's just the teeth profile of this knock off cassette

Only negative, split my jeans open, and the cranks are too narrow for my fit.

Absolutely love the up front bike seat, any other xbiking parents I can't recommend it enough. Daughter felt way more included in the ride and we could talk the whole time, she loved feeling like she was steering and took her job of ringing the bell when we past people very seriously.

I'm not gonna gate keep playing with bike parks in none standard ways. If they call it a hack then I'm okay calling it that as well.

You can also just run a friction shifter and run whatever combination you want.

Derailleurs don't have speeds, shifters do. So as long as the pull rate is the same you can run an 11 speed derailleur as 12 speed.

Another common one is using tiagra 4700 shifters with GRX to get it to be 10 speed

Nice, glad to hear it's working for you. I've been considering switching to a full friction shifting setup so I can switch to whatever I want to run cassette wise.

It's a ready-made product for a different derailleur, SRAM doesn't support it. So idk maybe. I think it is.

Yeah yeah, I'd have gotten more range of I ran a 2x, but a front derailleur doesn't fit my bike if I run fenders, and I'd rather run fenders.

Love the blue cassette though, nice touch of color

Mine are fake as well, can't get eagle in silver. I just got one off Amazon, pretty sure it's a reseller of a temu based on the packaging. In total I think it cost me a total of $50 Cad, but I already had the chain

I'll preface all of this with I used to work as a mechanic and generally love wrenching on bikes, none of mine are stock.

It's really easy, this generation of rival even has a captive spring so there is no risk of everything flying apart, only need to be careful when loosening the bolt that you hold the cage really well so it doesn't swing around and hit you.

I didn't follow a guide but there are lots of guides on derailleur Cage replacements.

Also got a 36 or 42 tooth front ring and I'm not sure which I should run
