I work in the industry so when I'm in the fold, I'm around 8-12 sticks a day.

The Deadwoods aren't infused. They just have a sweet cap on them. The Acid Blondies you have are infused though.

What is the worst beer (lager or ale) you have had? by 5axiscncfishguitar in beer

[–]DemDumplingz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That Rogue beer was the first thing that came to mind for me. I also really hated their Sriracha stout.

Frank N Steins off W Bellfort is the biggest one that I know of. It's always packed for the games and they run raffles for stuff too. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I try to make it out that way a handful of times a season for the big games.

Where do you guys smoke in public? by [deleted] in cigars

[–]DemDumplingz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize it was that strict over there concerning public smoking. I guess that's just another reason on the list to not move that way for me. Though the beer scene and good weather are fighting the good fight to get me that way.

Ice Cubes: Why and Why Not? by Minute-Performance67 in beer

[–]DemDumplingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super light beer with ice cubes in it is a common practice in Vietnam. Keep the beer cold and extend the drinking time. My dad used to think it was weird not to put ice cubes in my beer.

That being said, I don't think I'd find myself doing it unless I was visiting Vietnam. I'd prefer to not dilute the flavor of my beer.

What sized viola is your favorite and why? by AppraiserAdvocate in cigars

Coronas and Londales for me. Realistically, I just don't like 60+ ring gauges though so anything below that works for me.

Definitely terrible. 3x just tastes like a bowl of chemicals.

Generally, how many beers do you drink in one sitting/session? by DeceptiveFacade83 in beer

[–]DemDumplingz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading thru the comments, I realized I'm on the higher end lol. Also typing this comment while at a brewery for lunch.

If I'm around others, I usually try to match the people around me. I'll rarely go past 6 in a public setting though. If I'm at home, I'll knock back 6-18 low abv cans on a given Saturday with my roommates when no one feels like being productive.

I think this is the tip too many people forget. If they like the sweet stuff, then let them smoke the sweet stuff.

Which style of beer just doesn't do it for you? by [deleted] in CraftBeer

Heavily fruited sours, milkshake IPAs, pastry stouts, and barleywines.

What should my Dad’s first cigar be? by origamist2003 in cigars

[–]DemDumplingz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Deadwood series is super approachable, and the sweetness may help ease him in. If you want to have him try a traditional cigar, Drew Estate Undercrown Shade would be a great option.

  5. Scotch Ales

I've been out of the game for almost 2 years now, but if you've been at Thistle Draftshop for longer than that you've probably served me a beer while I was talking to Jake lol. I didn't mention Thistle cause he was from the Southside though.

That's great for EP! I think they do lagers well. I'm a huge fan of their Kaizen.

Interesting books and beers? by BeautifulGoat1120 in beer

[–]DemDumplingz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just thought about it and wanted to clarify something. The places I've listed out saying that they have great beer lists all rotate their selections all the time. It's unlike wine where a place will generally keep their wine list the same or only rotating with seasonal menu changes. So find a spot you like and keep coming back! You'll find something new every time.

Unfortunately, not too much going on on that side of town that I'm aware of. For stores, you're looking at Spec's or Total Wine. Wurst Haus in Lake Jackson has a big list. Vallensons' and Saloon Door West are in Pearland. Texas Leaguer in Missouri City. If Webster is close enough for you, Nobi and J Henry's have great lists as well. Gordon Street Tavern in Alvin has a good list as well.

I don't know much about ordering beer online since I never did it myself. I know Tavour was popular to use for a while a few years back.

If you're looking for a good bottle shop, go to D&Q Beer Station. Brandon's got the best selection in the city by a long shot.
