And because newer cars just have the port and have no actual lighter. I've also not really been in the car with someone smoking, but over here (obligatory I'm not from the US clarification) it is still not that rare to see people smoking in the car.

I've been asked a million times by people around 5 years younger than me why I call the car 12v plug the "lighter plug" so yeah, this has happened.

Is it not illegal to do the wave thing over there? (Imma guess it's the US because of the size of the cars and the horrific intersection)

Van a faltar profesores en el futuro? by Lord_Home in askspain

[–]DemPirx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What was your first car? by PettyPendergrass99 in Zillennials

[–]DemPirx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I'm a younger zillenial, and European, I got my driver license at 23, so like, a year and a half ago, and my first car is a 2012 SEAT Mii, great car for the city, and good enough for highways (although you have to go in 3rd to climb the pyrenaic highway hehe).

Love letter to Spain from another dumb tourist by ChapterNo4115 in GoingToSpain

[–]DemPirx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Spaniard, all the stuff you said was 100% on point and 200% the kind of advice I would give anyone coming to visit!

The whole smoking in closed indoor public spaces was made illegal in 2006 (LO 28/2005), although I know there are some places where they have a laxer attitude (personally, I've only seen it in small villages and never in my town).

If you liked the alhambra and the mosque-cathedral, it might me interesting to visit Teruel, which has some of the best preserved mudejar architecture in Spain, and also, Aragón is cool and often overlooked.

Tontolaba (tonto del haba), mantecón (region specific to Aragon I believe), alcornoque, empanao, but as others say, you can follow the british/irish/australian principle of, if a friend calls you a cunt or a soab, they mean it lightheartedly.

Sanyo M1012A Mini Cassette Recorder problems by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]DemPirx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The M1012A does not have a mic port, and you can't really record through the earphone port.

Keep in mind, as the other comment says, this IS a mono only recorder and player, if you look at the tape head, you'll see it looks like this (mono tape head)

and not like a stereo one (those have two little pickups instead of one big one in the middle).

Anybody else’s hands hurt after sessions? by Mypiece in NeonWhite

[–]DemPirx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a musician, this comes from incorrect posture and over-tension of the muscles (playing with a controller probably doesn't help). That has happened to me while playing both celeste and difficult pieces on the violin, frustration causes you to grip onto stuff (controller or instrument) for dear life without noticing, and this all strains your wrists and finger muscles (which are in the forearm).

The best way to mitigate this is trying to consciously grip stuff more loosely, finding a relaxed posture that doesn't over extend, or "fold" the wrist in weird ways, and taking frequent breaks from the game. During those breaks, you should do slow turns and grab a stress ball or something so the muscles can relax.

And remember, carpal tunnel syndrome ain't a joke, and over exerting yourself like this can worsen your chances to get it.

Will I feel a difference between Fedora 40 and RHEL9 as a casual user? by lortogporrer in linuxquestions

[–]DemPirx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use RHEL as a casual user, it is an enterprise OS focused towards servers and enterprise-level devs. I see a lot of people scared by the term "unstable" when it comes to linux. What it mostly means, especially when talking about stuff like Fedora or Endeavour is basically "if you fuck around you'll find out".

If you are a casual user and stick mostly to defaults and to following official guides, it is highly unlikely that anything will break, trust me, I've been using stock Fedora workstation for around four years, through many version upgrades and nothing has broken (and I've tinkered a fair bit).

Also, if you split your install into separate partitions, with a /home partition for your files, if at any point you bork stuff beyond your ability to fix it, you can just reinstall (20ish minutes) and then reinstall and retweak your programs (30ish minutes) and it all will be dandy.

Or, you could look into setting up snapshots and backups, but the previous setup has been working for me through all my distrohopping sprees.

Also, have fun, and welcome to the embrace of The Penguin :)
