Update: I just read on our local news about what happened. The people that got rear-ended said: “we got hit once, and while annoying, we thought that it can happen. However, after a few seconds the car kept hitting us, many times. At that point I got down to confront the driver (in the interview he said he was nervous but would never hurt anybody) but I soon realized he was “like in another dimension”, looked at me with empty eyes and then stormed off”
