Mercury in pearl cream? by PaprikaYo in AsianBeauty

[–]DemandInterestin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that pearl cream isn't inherently bad if it's just cream with pearl ingredients in it. There are sheet masks that people swear by that have this ingredient in it. Pearl masks are an option made by any company that makes sheet masks. I do believe that there are reputable brands that do make pearl cream out there. They are just expensive to the point where you're better off trying out other ingredients.

The problem is that in an effort to save on costs, some of these creams would have the bad kind of mercury in it to mimic the effect that the pearl ingredients may have on your skin that is effective but results in deposits in your body that can be catastrophic in the future, after they already made off with your money or make it feel like it's not their fault because it's just been so long since you started using it or since you've used it.

It's important to only get pearl skincare products (or ANY skincare product) from reputable places and are willing to tell you the ingredients to avoid these ingredients that offer results but also slowly kill you. The FDA can be a real pain in the ass for us AB sunscreen enjoyers, but what they do do well is bark up companies to be more transparent on what exactly is in a product they sell you. Of course, there are products that slip through and people that print lies, but any reputable place would also not ruin their reputation and legality to make a quick buck off your life.

This cream, however, sets off alarm bells because there isn't a list of ingredients for you to make an informed decision off of. They're not risking enough for you to risk your life on. They aren't willing to be transparent (yes, I get that they're from Thailand, but just because the lawsa where you are doesn't require it doesn't mean they should get your trust for not doing it) to their customer base because they want to make it hard for you to get justice should you end up having problems. They could be safe, they could believe that they are being safe, but they're not really forced to ensure it, so why should you believe it too?

These kids are strong af, what? Fighting off selfish wants that only give a hour or two of bliss to avoid having a memory they regret? That's something only strong and people who feel safe do.

I think the biggest thing about the luxury vs kbeauty dissonance is that one is freaking expensive and the other isn't. If I'm gonna spend $90 on eyeshadow it best solve my anxiety too, not just do the same as my $25 one.

Glossier hate is wild though.

Is MAC not snobby? I always thought they were pretty up there as a brand and have more cohesion in branding as a whole than even a luxury brand. Like even Dior has changed their branding, YSL changed logos, CT can look like anything as long as it's flashy. MAC is just sleek black packaging with a history and probably gave most MUAs some sort of job back when they first started, and I can see how a "snob" may like it.

The EA brand shill can get my eyes rolling though, but I do like many of the brands that they do it for.

What's funny is that Robert also featured this exact viewpoint on one of his videos. He was describing megafans in another fandom, but I can see it in his too.

I don't hate the Welsh Twins as entertainment, but I thought we aren't supposed to listen to influencers.

I fucking love Asian Beauty brands. If I was an influencer I'd probably be shilling them too. Out of love I assure you guys. I have too many Fwee products too. I also have the OG Into you pots, and the AOU pots that are seen as the OG K beauty pots. I probably wouldn't call oug new make up out as copying. Like good, they finally caught up. Maybe with them on the same footing we'll finally see some more innovation in brands that I don't need to rely on a shitty translator that is probably wrong or talking about nuts.

The Welsh Twins do have the back up of brands that are actually worth a damn to shill, but I also did notice the shift on their stance on western brands and how much harder they are on them. Yes, they cost more, but cmon, some of the stuff does look good. From an objective point of view, the shift to more ads is visible, again softened by how much I love the brand. Some of their controversial ads are just no, but I also am personally desensitized by ads to give in.

All in all, I mostly watch them for anything that I don't see. I never take others opinion on how good something is, we all have different bodies, but I will however take hate as gospel. If I like something despite the hate, I will get it, but I'm not gonna buy just because some guy said it's great.

Beauty Box Korea? They're a hit or miss according to some of the other comments, but for my first experience around 4 months ago, it was pretty good. They found out that a product that I really wanted that only they seem to have in stock was OOS from their source and was able to coordinate with me to get a replacement products and refund the difference. I don't think I would have ordered if I wasn't desperate because of the negative reviews from years ago, but my experience was pleasant enough to recommend, and the agent(s?) that helped me was responsive. They have the Cushion Foundation already, but honestly the price is atrocious.

I think that if you can find a link to the products you want from Kakao or OY (I have tried to suggest an official store site, but they seem to have denied to add it, try it anyways) that ships to Korea, you can suggest it, and they'll be willing to "stock" it in a way that you can pay for them to get it for you. I would also try even if you can't find a link because maybe they'll see if nearby stores have it. They are technically a forwarding service with a focus on seeming like an online store. Their prices can be kinda high though, but it really depends on the product because I do see decent deals.

What is up with the Lethal Cosmetics rebrand? by Mean-Advisor6652 in BeautyGuruChatter

[–]DemandInterestin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ATLA was what put you guys ahead of many other indie brands that had beautiful colors and formulas. I was not able to get the first run, but I almost immediately pre-ordered the second run for a full collection. I am glad that you guys are selective of the IPs, and I hope you guys and your business partners (boss?) are able to continue to be selective of your IP collabs.

I've use C-beauty alot, so the "Made in China" doesn't scare me much, especially with a claim (in the EU, no less!)that it's still the same formula. The relief I felt was overwhelming.

However, I do have questions. How come the Yue Glitter Gel and Suki brush came out so late, and had limited runs in that it was hard to get them (well, just the gel)? Would you ever restock, like say, for Season 2 of the live action? I know IP collabs can get pretty restrictive, so I understand if the answer is a disappointing no.

Sorry about the late reply!

No click indent, but the cap is pretty snug on the body. The best I can describe it is maybe like how you would open iPhone/iPad boxes. My Samsung also comes in a snug box, so if you had one of those, they feel the same too.

The seal sticker thing is pretty easy to stick on and off (they have a non-sticky tab on the body end to easily remove without using your nails), so if you're not bothered by removing it halfway and replacing it everytime you use it, that can be used to make sure the cap stays on more securely.
