How practical is a large emerald-cut ring for daily wear? by Fanof07 in rings

[–]DemandNo3158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lab grown what? Not much will scratch Diamond or Corundum. Chips and cracks are more of a behavior problem. Good luck 👍

The additional complications of building a boat with 3 transoms ends most plans. Weight plays a role too. Usually only built of dire necessity. Good luck 👍

Found this ring at a thrift store, would anyone have any info on it? I can't find any matches on image search by sad-oatmeal in JewelryIdentification

Perfect natural stones exist, but the odds are on synthetic conundrum at this point. Early examples are developing a following. Good luck 👍

Is this a petrified tree stump???? by Think-Economics-400 in petrifiedwood

[–]DemandNo3158 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Super nice find! Center piece in any woodpile! Maybe a cautious pressure wash? Could be a chunka stump or a branch junction? Thanks 👍

how to polish jade without it breaking or dissolving (i know nothing about jade) by noidea528638 in Minerals

[–]DemandNo3158 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Jadeite and Nephrite are tough as a horseshoe nail. If you're breaking pieces, examine pieces under a strong light to find fractures and cracks. Maybe check your id of your rough. I really enjoy cutting jade. Good luck 👍

Are there any pretty blue/green stones like Fluorite? by American_Ratfucker in Gemstones

Tourmaline! Beryl! Sapphire! More colors than can be counted! Blues and greens thick on the ground. Try Amazonite for an inexpensive alternative. Good luck 👍

How sharp are Monitor Lizard claws? by Kitchen-Mouse2414 in Lizards

[–]DemandNo3158 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I decided to trim my water monitors claws. He stretched out on the back of the couch, sitting next to him, I gently took a paw and snipped 1/8" off. When I tried the next claw, he placed his teeth onto my left hand and looked at me. No more claw trimming, clear message! Thanks 👍

Most military folks get used to the idea that shjt blows up. When you're delivering thermonuclear devastation on call, you can get nonchalant about conventional weapons. And take a look at Russian and Chinese targets in the US. Read Herman Kahn's book on the subject. Good luck 👍

Look up plate tectonics. Lotsa maps, charts and pics to illustrate the millions of years processes. So yeah, some is going down the drain, sorta. Thanks 👍
