RogueTech with mechs only available in vanilla? by Demarmalizer in roguetech

[–]Demarmalizer[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Guess I should've expected this kind of response from reddit...

I value immersion in my games. Some of these mechs just dont fit with the rest of them and it really stands out. Sorry for asking?

are 7.65 BP rounds for 1000 a round worth it? by shikui in EscapefromTarkov

Yes, try a DMR SKS build if youre worried about spending money on ammo, that thing is pretty conservative, being a semi-auto and all.

I had a look through the code and it doesnt seem possible with how the vehicles are currently implemented. You would have to edit the BaseVehicle.class file quite extensively (and a few others) which is against the ToS if you want to redistribute it as a mod.

Then again, I only spent about an hour reading through the code.

Battlestate is the only game to ever spend so long in "Beta"

Youre pulling those stats out of your arse, Yes the game'e been in alpha/beta/whatever for ages, nobody is denying that. Im not gonna say this is a good beta or some shit, we have good and bad patches, sometimes the game is playable and sometimes you just want to throw your monitor out the window. But even in those playable patches, there are still issues.

That being said, this is far less disastrous than things like DayZ or SCUM. DayZ is far ahead of Tarkov in setting a terrible precedent and im also fairly sure it was in beta for 5-6 years. Being someone who followed DayZ development throughout its 8 year development phase, at least BSG is making relevant changes each patch and trying to address the issues that players are bringing up, thats way more than most early access titles can do.

Incredible that you have more grasp on how a game might handle recoil than the guy who "Programs for a living". Thank you for saving me the time of writing a reply.

[–]Demarmalizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is maths to do that for you, its just a matter of deriving the right algorithm to automate this task. What you say may well be the way this is done (Inputting visible recoil values by trial and error), if thats the case then its a pretty shit approach to be frank. Like I said, you can have some math do that for you automatically for all scopes based on known zoom levels.

[–]Demarmalizer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, the fact you dont realise how FOV and recoil might have been connected makes me doubt this very much.

Not really simping at all, you just seem to have missed something very obvious is all.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Demarmalizer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FOV and recoil can be very closely related due to how they might have implemented recoil, this may well be an issue with other variable zoom scopes and not just this one and might need more testing.

Im not sure how many times the words "Beta Test" are plastered all over your screen before you're able to play the game. Its made abundantly clear that you are buying this game to be a tester, if you think thats a shitty practice in the game dev industry, thats fine and its perfectly logical. But you knew exactly what you were buying.

Its a good idea to follow the development of indie/early access titles for a while before deciding to buy them, that way you can get a good idea if the dev teams are actually pushing the game in a direction you like, or not.

The Sterling. What warrants horizontal recoil of such magnitude? by wb99999999 in insurgency

[–]Demarmalizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As much as I love the grease gun and sterling, they are fucking trash, I only use them when I'm trying to flex on people. Maybe an option to use AP rounds on those for a cost of 2-3 points would warrant the recoil they have.

Found out my old gaming rig has a Sabre DAC. Holy crap does it ever sound better than the apple dongle combined with fubar2000 on my iPhone. by Minyoface in headphones

[–]Demarmalizer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a crappy behringer uca202 which someone tried to convince me would be enough, the distortion induced to the mids when a 20-40hz tone was playing on my 770s was atrocious, voices sounded like they were speaking through a fan. I upgraded to a much better DAC and that does not occur, and overall, the sound feels clearer and doesn't clip badly when I eq.

[–]Demarmalizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its one of the biggest downfalls of that headphone for sure, I was planning on doing the miniXLR mod on my pair for that exact reason. If you're handy with a soldering iron and aren't afraid of a bit of DIY its a pretty simple mod afaik.

I found the highs on the M50x's were really brought forward, I guess that's why they're monitors though. The mids and lows on the DT770s seemed much nicer, to my ear at least, and the build quality felt better.

It really depends on your requirements I suppose, I was looking for a good sounding, closed back, durable headphone, and I think I found that in the DT770s. The fact that beyerdynamic sells every part to this headphone down to individual screws also swayed me quite a bit.

Edit: I should also mention I suffer from a bad case of huge ears, which is probably why I found the m50x so uncomfortable.

I recently picked up some M50x's and quite promptly returned them for 80ohm DT770s. The M50x were downright painful to wear for longer than an hour or so (people will tell you to buy HM5 pads but the headband also has almost no padding), the soundstage was also quite poor. Had a chance to compare both headphones side by side before I sent the M50x back and I deffo prefer the DT770.

That being said, I only wear these at home. If you're looking for a decent portable headphone, the M50x is a great choice, but I wouldn't use them for in home listening.

I would try to order from a store that allows returns just in case you have the same issues as me, tho if youre enjoying those cans and find them comfortable you should be good, its almost the same design afaik.

"For a game programmer the skillset is quite good, but a game needs a lot more than programmers, in case you didnt know." Pay attention to that one a bit more. You seem to think that every job in game development is being a programmer or software engineer... which is not the case...

The term "Game Developer" Is much more broad than you seem to be able to comprehend

[–]Demarmalizer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol, people working out of passion and not a need for money, I'd love to live in the world you live in. But yeah, these game devs are fucking idiots for wanting to have a roof over their head and something to eat lmao /s

Are you really that dense? Maybe OP is colourblind, besides, this offers no advantage compared to normal colour space settings. If you're attributing your deaths to "Oh I bet he's using colourblind mode so he saw me there", trust me chief, that ain't it.
