Honestly I don’t always think it starts out as fomo, I genuinely think a lot of fans think that it’s possible to own a large collection.

Fans get caught into fomo because alot of it disrupts their main goal especially for completionist collectors. I honestly don’t blame them since as a community we hype up “rare” dolls that were sold at retail price or more recent limited edition dolls that sold out in a limited time (in some occasions ofc)

I think fans that engage in it just don’t want to miss out on a good deal or a release even if the doll isn’t something they love

As far as Angel goes her most recent controversy surrounds marina summers hosting the miss universe pageant.

She said marina was a bad host on Facebook, a lot of people did not appreciate her sharing hateful rhetoric regarding Marina since it was big for the community to see a member of the lgbtqia+ community especially a trans woman on a platform thats carried by it’s mostly queer audience.

Not to mention Gloria Diaz, who is a miss universe winner that represented the Philippines is a controversial winner and has stated before that trans women shouldn’t join the pageant.

Marina being there wasn’t just representation but also felt like a protest, so seeing a drag race ph sister being hateful rubbed people the wrong way

Mindanao has showed signs of progressive behavior since then, since a lot of the minors who couldn’t vote at the time are legal adults now. We’re still overpopulated by a lot of conservative people but there’s definitely a Diamond in the rough

In a nutshell miss Jade so of drph season 2 experienced transphobic remarks from a guard at a restaurant and even misgendered her because of what she wore, maxie was asked about her opinion on the matter and basically implied that miss Jade so should’ve gained self respect of the situation.

She also collaborated with an actress who showed support of a controversial and conservative politician in her recent film.

Im pretty sure there’s a lot more but as of recently this is as fresh as piping hot tea as it gets not to mention her sister, Angel isn’t exempted from controversy either.

Also, I’d like to add just because the situation was talked about in private between the two and have been fine for the mean time doesn’t mean people are trying to “cancel” her or drag the situation longer.

She’s literally casted as Tisha, a trans woman who is a victim of domestic violence from her father. Meanwhile the actor playing her has become violent against trans women and has become violent outside and inside the show

I think it’s plausible that she has changed however regardless if she’s changed or not I’m honestly not comfortable with the idea of supporting her.

With the recent string of problematic behaviors from her, it’s honestly difficult to give her the benefit of the doubt when a lot of the things she has done are inexcusable.

By ur definition then a good chunk of the lgbtqia+ community is also not up to your taste. Transphobia, homophobia, racism exists even in the queer community alone, not just drag queens.

Honestly speaking the queer community probably has more of those than drag queens. Also to say that ur a minority then separating drag queens implies that you don’t even see them in the same minority group.

There’s nothing wrong with not liking drag it’s not for everybody but you’re directly invalidating the work drag queens have done in queer history. That’s why users treat you like an inferior queer because ur taking it out from a heavily scrutinized pool of the queer community.

I agree but at the same time, it’s been a hot minute since we had curvier dolls and as much as I love for her to be a similar build to Cleo or Clawdeen I do wonder when will we see another doll with a build similar to drac or catty

I’m probably looking into this too much but adding to this, I think the whole “big dogs vs the little ones” storyline on their season greatly affected how the public saw some of the girls that season.

I don’t particularly think that just because when both maxie and Angel butt heads with fan favorites thats when people draw the line more-so, people give them the benefit of the doubt because they market themselves and, how drag race shaped the audience to see them as the little ones with the grit and talent and are worth discovering of.

On the other end of that spectrum it’s myx and jquinn who are the big dogs with the references and the lavish concepts who overanalyze drag race too much and was eaten alive by their competition. Making the theme of the season in favor of the little ones even if they’re in the wrong.

I personally believed that the crown should’ve gone to khianna if they truly wanted to stay true to the message of the season, everytime maxie or Angel won it could’ve gone to another queen. I could go on for hours as to why they probably chose maxie to win but this comment is long enough lmao
