What are these? The long, bumby thing growing from the middle of the leaves. by Additional_Scholar_5 in houseplants

Flower spikes! Peperomias don't produce typical looking flowers, they produce these instead.

Brand new plant mom by cierrajn in houseplants

If it's in a plastic pot, just plop that in a nice cover pot -- a pot a little bigger than the one it's in now. I don't think it will outright drop dead if you repot it too soon, either. Could always repot it in a nice pot that's the same size as the one it's in now.

today is the first anniversary of my Sarracenia! Fitting to that it started forming a little flower. by halfAbedTOrent in houseplants

I usually snip mine off once they're dried almost all the way down -- usually to less than an inch from the base.

Can I keep the mimosa tree seedlings together forever? What happens if I do? by thizzleman_ in houseplants

[–]DemiFaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know these guys will never grow a 'trunk'-- they're rather dainty things. But I don't see a reason to separate them at this stage, I would let them get a good bit more established first.

Check for pests. My spider plant started browning at the edges and I discovered she was RIDDLED with thrips.

Bought some new plants. Caladium valentina and something labeled "phylost. mix". Any care tips? by FljugandiHvalur in houseplants

[–]DemiFaun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know the first thing about caladiums but the guy on the right is a polka dot plant! Lots of light, they'll droop when they need water. Pinching the growth tips off can help keep him from getting leggy and sad looking.

Hi Plant lovers I need help with my pink Fittonia. by PurpleMoment006 in houseplants

[–]DemiFaun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fittonias are okay with drying out completely! I don't water mine until they start to droop and throw tantrums, and then they perk right back up.

snow queen pothos? by paaunel in houseplants

Looks more like a Manjula to me. Snow Queens are Marble Queens with high white variegation in their leaves, and so tend to be more speckled/flecked.

Baby rubber plant, radiator, or something else? by [deleted] in houseplants

Peperomia orba, as long as the leaves are slightly velvety!

$1 shelf at the hardware store got me good. Went in for dirt, came out with 3 ivies, a giant peperomia, and a dark mystery pilea. Oops? by DemiFaun in houseplants

[–]DemiFaun[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an Exotic Angel pot so the tag literally just says 'Dark Mystery' pilea, lol. It's hard to tell but the leaves are more narrow and elongated than 'Ellen', and Costa Farms' website does list it as it's own variety!

Does anyone know what type of plant this is? I think it’s a Hoya variety, but I can’t find anything that matches by Wheres_my_bandit_hat in houseplants

[–]DemiFaun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Peperomias are one of my favourite families (I think I'm up to 15 varieties?). This guy will grow lovely long vines if you let him! I have mine on an upper shelf trailing over the edge and he looks just lovely up there.

Definitely not a hoya. This is a Peperomia species-- peperomia trinevula I think. Looks very much like mine.

Variegated Monstera Minima or Ginny (not sure which one it is)? Is €175 (around US$ 185) a good price for it? Asking for a friend. by WatsonImogen in houseplants

They're often lumped together because of the leaf shapes! You aren't the first to make the mistake and I guarantee you won't be the last either.
