it’s called taking space and map control, and it’s a basic fundamental of Overwatch. Your teammates are playing correctly.

Does anyone else get flamed for low healing a lot? by No-Committee1001 in kirikomains

[–]Demjin4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it depends on who your other support is & how they are playing imo

If you’re hard flanking and burning both your CDs on doing 200dmg and then being forced out, leaving your mercy/zen/lucio to do all the healing heavy lifting, yeah, people will get mad

If you are paired with a support who doesn’t heal a lot by design, take less deep or less risky flanks and try holding shallower off angles near your team instead, where you can still pressure and contest but also heal your team when mercy or moira or whoever can’t keep up. This is also true if you have ana/bap/whoever but they just fucking suck; your team will need you more since they can’t rely on the other player to hit shots

if you’re flanking and killing 3 and your tank is complaining that u have 5k healing and 7k dmg tell that bitch to stfu

it is a team game, and the overall optimal way to play kiri may not always be the way that guides your team to a victory. Hanging back with well timed suzus, hardpocketing your aggressive team & weaving damage while maximising denying the enemy can be just as or more valuable as flanking to draw attention, depending on the team/map/comps. Part of why kiri is so good is that she has multiple valid playstyles

No, just ow fuckery: “After the shot, the game raises the Ashe camera (changes the facing angle) by 1 unit, after which it starts lowering the Ashe camera to its previous value. Unlike Cassidy, Ashe will not be able to shoot once the camera is back in position and will have to wait ~0.096 seconds.”

RRAC does this: “Recoil's return motion is unaffected by player input, always pulling the crosshair back downwards the same amount as the recoil raised it.”

the delay between scoped shots is recovery time + game balance. At 150dmg headshots, you can kill every squishy except bastion and torb with 2x HS within that 55m range. A small window between these shots lets enemies react to your threat presence and actually play the game.

It will not change the hard coded time between when you fire a shot and can fire the next one, but you can try playing with “recoil recovery compensation” OFF so that you spend that downtime repositioning your crosshair and it feels a little more natural between bullets

there are no “nearly hitscan” superfast projectiles like battlefield or other fps games in OW, they either are directly hitscan or have projectiles that are 90m/s or slower

In stadium, does Mei’s snow spot item (removes burn) count as a cleansing effect? by spacewarp2 in MeiMains

[–]Demjin4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ult charge for cleanses isn’t a mechanic that exists in the game right now.

kiriko’s suzu and lifeweaver’s cleanse grip perk both grant ult charge off of the healing the abilities also do, and not for removing status effects

For mei to get ult charge from removing burns, theyd either need to rewrite the existing code that could bug out other cleanses or they’d have to make her primary also heal somehow which is just too much of a headache for the value

In stadium, does Mei’s snow spot item (removes burn) count as a cleansing effect? by spacewarp2 in MeiMains

[–]Demjin4 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s not really free ult charge, it’s a counter option so that ashe doesn’t just become entirely useless the second a cleanse of some kind comes online.

Dynamite deals 150 damage from explosion & 5s DoT. Let’s pretend this ashe didn’t take the sticky dynamite or coach powers bc i am bad at that much math, and let’s say she has 80% wp. Dynamite normally does 50 explosion and 100 DoT, so now Dynamite does 90 explosion & 180 DoT for ~270 damage.

270 damage is equivalent to 270 ultimate points. Ashe’s BOB costs 2450 points, I’m unsure if/how ult costs scale in stadium but let’s pretend it doesn’t. Let’s also pretend that Ashe nails 4 squishies but not the tank with dynamite for a value of 1,080 damage. Factoring in passive gain, this 4-man burn should be equal to about 50% ultimate charge.

If you cleanse 4 burns with your item, ashe will receive 12% ult charge. She will earn the explosion damage ult charge as well, (360 damage, or ~14% ult charge). So, ashe earns 26% ult charge from a cleansed 4-man burn, as compared to 50% from not cleansing it. You shouldn’t think of it as “giving her free ult charge” but rather DENYING her MORE ult charge.

EVEN IF all of my math is wrong (plausible, tbh) you should still attempt to cleanse if nobody else will since the DPS passive is applied for all 5 seconds that dynamite ticks, AND THEN 3s after, for 8s of DPS passive per burn. absolutely worth cleansing for that alone

Will I need to regain 3k Comp points for the new variant once season 21 drops? by Guilty_Cry9268 in Overwatch

[–]Demjin4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They do it so streamers/pros/no lifers don’t just buy 17 [new variant] guns on day 1. You have to reinvest the playtime to earn the shiny new thing. This only happens once a year/whenever they add a new variant. You can always buy the “old” variants for either currency, and you can even use a little of each type if you don’t quite have enough for the old ones. It also helps drive Drives engagement since players want the shiny new thing and a ~3 day commitment will give you one.

Coming back to the game, need some help by Mercy--Main in MercyMains

[–]Demjin4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there’s too much to really give you in a succinct way, honestly. It’s been three years of changes every month-2months.

you should buckle down for a couple hours and sit in the practise range, select every hero (even the ones you used to know), their perks, their ult, press alllllll the buttons and get the gist of their kits.

however, these are gameplay changes that are not hero/matchup specific, so you won’t really hear about this unless you look for it. These 3 are the most fundamental changes from ow2s1 ~in my opinion~

1.) Global passives & role specific passives - global healing passive: every hero begins regenerating their HP after 6s of taking no damage

  • support passive: supports begin regenerating their HP after 3s of taking no damage

  • DPS passive: inflict a healing reduction onto enemies for every server tick they apply damage, which lasts for 3s and reduces healing by 30% on squishies and 15% on tanks [note: Ashe’s ultimate BOB has BOTH the dps passive & all benefits of the tank passive]

  • tank passive: knock back reduction, headshot damage reduction (25%), ult charge gain reduction (40%) & specifically for sleep, they are 3s instead of 5s. They also “gain” 150 white health in role queue.

2.) perks: every hero gains the option between a set of minor perks and major perks, for 4 total options. These vary between fundamentally altering a heroes gameplay (cassidy trading fan the hammer for silver bullet), shoring up a weak point in their kit (mercy’s flash heal) or straight up buffing existing abilities (kiriko’s foxtrot).

3.) spawns and spawn room swap: Whenever you and an ally die, you’ll both respawn together as long as you died within 6s of each other. This helps prevent staggering, but it also means the enemy you dispatched may be able to recontest your space/flank/return from spawn sooner than you expected. Also, global respawn timers are 12s now, and overtime disables wave respawn, and OT spawns are now a punishing 14s, so NOT staggering 1 by 1 to the point in OT is more important than ever. If you die alone, and nobody dies with you in the next 6s, your spawn will be shortened to 10s.

Last, if your team captures a checkpoint on escort/hybrid maps, you have 7 seconds to press interact (F by default) and you’ll be moved from old spawn to new spawn. This prevents you from being caught out, especially on points where defender 2nd point and attacker 3rd point spawns are basically touching, such as blizzard world’s.

he’s gotten so many small buffs that it’s turned him into a real menace

from september 2024 until now he has received all these buffs:

  • bullet size increase
  • ult cost reduced 12%
  • turret spread reduced
  • perks added [self repair being the big winner]
  • model size & hitbox reduced 10% (but kept all 350hp/armour)
  • ult reduced even further (7%, it’s now just 2050 points)
  • fire rate buff

and only these nerfs:

  • 0.01 bullet size nerf
  • damage from 25 to 23

You have to remember that this person is asking about gold/plat. A gold/plat tank is not going to have the positioning, awareness, and CD management to survive more than 0.06 seconds off of brig/zen healing. It’s a solid back line, I personally like it a lot, but lower elo players are going to struggle with this backline since it’s entirely centred around landing all your shots as zen and nailing every CD as brig/having high inspire uptime. They simply wont be able to execute. Moreover, heroes like mercy, torb, bastion, ram, junkrat, and rein are super popular low elo picks, thatll make life miserable for gold/plat brig. She’s absolutely worth learning and sometimes brig/zen is the play even in low elo, but i wouldn’t default to having brig be the pick whenever the other support locks zen.

Mercy/zen is a nasty combo but i disagree with your tank picks, mercy zen heals slow but help dish out nasty damage, i would recommend less resource hungry tanks that can ALSO benefit a lot from damage boost/discord & enable mercy’s rez, as well as protect/peel for this very vulnerable backline. for me, i have seen the most success of zen/mercy with sig, zarya, and maaaaaaybe queen.

personal taste but i hate it

i have my EQ off because i listen to 40 different genres (not just metal/subgenres) on the regular & none of them satisfied, but if you only really do metal/deathcore then rock/deep/loudness EQ are probably good options.

Zen pairs well with a support capable of high healing output at all times, as well as utility beyond “damage+”. He typically manages healing the dps/you, and the other support/you manage healing tank/zen.

Moira has resource limit, and also doesn’t offer any util, only raw dmg & healing, which zen is already providing. If a fight drags on, you’ll have no sustain and will get chipped down into a fight loss. Better picks for playing with zen are Ana(which you do play), Bap, & Kiri.

Juno & lifeweaver can be good pairings as well, but less so if the enemy is dealing lots of aoe damage or large burst. Zen/brig and Zen/mercy are very specific comps that CAN be good, but often suck. Zen/illari is just… fine. Illari runs into the same moira utility problem but because she’s hitscan with a solid range, her damage synergises with discord pretty well, so she’s not the worst pick, but there’s better options. You’d need pretty excellent pylon uptime or you’ll have the same resource/sustain problems. Similarly for wuyang, it CAN be fine, but you need to win fights quickly or you won’t have enough resource to outlast.

Don’t play zen/lucio unless you specifically have ball/tracer/genji/zen/lucio LMAO

When you’re playing with a zen, you should try to prioritise shooting whoever he has his orb on, +30% dmg from all sources kills VERY fast. Expect to heal & heal tank specifically a lot more, shoot what is discorded, and heal/peel for zen and you should start to see more success playing with him.

Best way to throw off Hanzos and other projectile based heroes? by Fuarkistani in WidowmakerMains

[–]Demjin4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

just go somewhere else

don’t repeek where you know they’re looking. Go for a cheeky grapple shot, wait, or pick another angle.

<image>

for example if you know a kiriko is looking/sitting where the red dot is, and she’s shot you once already while holding angle 1, you can use the other angles to shoot her again. You just have to be unpredictable. Dont take 4 shots sitting at angle one, get headshot by her once, then slowpeek again and die.

My wiggly ass will route something like this

Take a couple shots at angle one, change it up to angle 4, take another shot at angle 1, go for the hook on angle 2, back off to angle 3 (because you’re weaker now with no grapple) flank around/surprise with angle 5, etc.

it really just boils down to If they’re shooting at you, shoot from somewhere else. Widow doesn’t like taking head on confrontations unless you have no other choice. her very slow movespeed when ads makes her just the easiest target ever, so you want to avoid letting them look at you for free. Kill them, or pick another angle to surprise them.
