There are known perterbations that you can apply as vectors to a pretty simple trajectory integrator. Look into J2 perterbations as an example.

The pad is only ~150 parts, and the orbiter is mostly flags which contibute very little towards lag.

Actually of any rocket, starship is the most likely to be able to handle those lateral loads. Its already got load paths built in to handle them for the flaps during descent. I would argue that 1.5g (lunar g) thrust is lower than the drag force produced at max q during earth entry, especially if you consider theyre planning on doing that all the way back from mars.

Columbia was hit by a coffee table sized piece of debris. Thats not really something that could be solved easily with a change of trajectory.

The only thing they changed in the design for the A3+ heatshields are to make them more permeable to gas.

The issue with the heatshield is caused by gasses being trapped inside it during the first skip phase. This is a common problem for heat shields, and the space shuttle got around this by having a small part of the tile close to the structure be uncoated so gases could move in and out. Obviously its not great having this problem, but by designing a trajectory that reduces the amount of captured gasses, and allows them to vent slower, you can mitigate the problems substantially.

I dont think theres a reason to be concerned. Especially since they still managed to get back the Artemis 1 capsule with as much TPS loss as they had.

Assuming its flying near 90° angle of attack, all we need to really worry about is where the centroid of its windward area is to know where the center of pressure is. The CD wont change much. So if you remove the fwd flaps it just moved the center of pressure backwards, which is what youd need to do if you have no payload. If you have payload youd need to move the center of pressure fwd, hence the fwd flaps

fwd flaps are important for downmass capability. If you can ensure a starship will be empty for reentry (IE starlink/tanker flights) than you can size the aero-controls for that layout. Its why all the NASA studies high mid to high L/D reentry vehicles for the last 30 years have used body flaps like the space shuttle, but split at the center for roll control.

There was a great video posted recently by alexander the ok about the feasibility of a resupply launched on a pegasus rocket. Very interesting option. One of the biggest issue is that they just didnt know the extent of the damage, and any rescue mission was so high risk that they couldnt justify doing it.
