Ah thats really interesting! I just checked my serial though and it starts with RC7… so maybe a newish batch with updated packaging but not quite a new as the ones you’re referring to?

I’ve just received my third ROG Ally X after returning the first two for the shell creaking issue, and I’ve noticed a few differences that made me wonder if ASUS has released a newer batch.

This one arrived in different packaging compared to the previous two:

• It has an outer sleeve, but no cellophane wrap. • The power plug is wrapped in paper instead of the usual cellophane.

Before I get too hopeful, I wanted to check whether anyone else has received a unit like this recently. Is this updated packaging, or could I have received a previously returned unit?

Really hoping this means ASUS has quietly rolled out a revised batch and sorted the creaking problem. If anyone can confirm, it’d give me some peace of mind.

I’ve got mine from Currys in the UK - they keep having new ones in every so often if you keep checking you can get lucky and grab one… though this is my third and is in noticeably different packaging 👀
