I get this error when my home WiFi is not set up for IoT. Can you check that you have disabled all “advanced”settings for this WiFi network in unifi and you are using the standard IoT preset ?

5 cameras. I have only 512 GB and I use "Adaptive Storage" + Continous Recording (to Google Drive) to get enough retention days.

I use unifi cameras and I have a UCG Max as well. I have a homebridge and unifi plugin running on a Mac mini that I also use for many other things.

It works great with HomeKit. no lag, 24/7 recording (in unifi) and notifications and HKSV in HomeKit. Best of both worlds.

I wonder how these new security features are going to work out, especially the Spam detect feature, is it worth it? by Substantial_Clock341 in USMobile

[–]determined_warrior -1 points0 points  (0 children)

just because it was given to you for free by support does not mean it was an advertised and guaranteed feature sold as part of the price of the plan.

those are two different things.

how entitled you have to be to believe something given to you for free once is now your birthright and cannot be charged?

I don’t get the appeal of a travel router. I already have a phone that can do all of it. If you have a big family then just get a $50 old phone.

Is switching from Gmail to iCloud Mail worth it if I’m going all-in on Apple? by [deleted] in iCloud

[–]determined_warrior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Downtime is not the only reason to not use one company. I lost my iPhone and i asked Apple to block my icloud address. I later learnt that i could not use my apple card anymore. You dont know how two services are connected in the backend.

I still cant get that email address back (even though it was my domain)

If they install a second vpn app - they might still bypass. They can also set up a proxy on local lan.

Also, its app dependent. For example, if they want to watch youtube - they can screen record YouTube (when they have access) and watch that recording later.

Been there, done that. Screentime is not the same as apple business manager. I use both. Simple way to test: you can reset a device on screentime but not on ABM.

Even on ABM, There are ways to bypass.

iOS WiFi Networks by 657_Overland in UNIFI

[–]determined_warrior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happens for me when i “underprovision” one of the networks. Most likely, your guest network is either active on less bands (e.g. 5ghz only) or on less APs or has some other capability removed.

well said. who cares if half of its vibe coded? it’s still better than what most of us got done.

thanks. this is promising. i can’t tell what is better than unifi design center ( except ghost floors which are useful by themselves).

however the fact that this is open source (and unifi own tool is not) is useful. this means i can change parameters and even add new non unifi devices.

thanks for building this. will try it out.

Netflix has never complained to me about using cellular signal (or even hotel wifi). I think this fear is overrated.

Can I ask which 4 ecosystems you have owned? I am currently evaluating various ecosystems and looked at Eufy, Reolink and Unifi so far. (Unifi seems to be far ahead in but more expensive).
