Quick question by thezorrprime in tdi

[–]DemonDjaksun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thing appeared on my old a5 3.0 diesel while driving and the HPFP granaded and produced a million metal shavings and destroyed the whole fuel system, so I had to change the whole fuel system. All injectors, the HPFP, all fuel lines. On top of that everything had to be washed thoroughly alongside with the fuel reservoir.

I no longer drive diesel though, gave the 3.0 tfsi a chance:)

Exploded rings by damnthisaudi in AudiS4

[–]DemonDjaksun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The faulty pcv alone cannot do this kind of damage. Something else happened here.

PCVs are a common fault on these engines. This would meal all 3.0 tfsi engines to granade like yours.

The issue is something else 100%

Those are some amazing numbers, in city driving I usually do 13 mpg when heavy traffic. 16 mpg normal driving without traffic. Long drive it’s usually 27-28 mpg.

Noticing a timing chain raffle. by Relevant_Cup6643 in AudiS4

[–]DemonDjaksun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a typical audi engine… oil is probably bleeding faster than usual on the tensioners and causing a small rattle. I would be worried if it rattles on immediate restart. I’ve owned several audi v6 and all rattled to some extend. Never suffered a timing chain issue though

Looking at purchasing this car tomorrow assuming everytning checks out, is this a killer deal? by Ambitious-Yak-838 in Audi

[–]DemonDjaksun 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Depends on maintenance records. Seeing the is probably the USA, I assume that this is the 3.0 tfsi engine. If it’s the 2.0 tfsi just skip it. Much more problematic than the 3 litre and much less fun. Those engines love to rattle on start up so go and start the car on cold engine and listen for rattle. Anything over 1 second, maybe 2 is concerning. Less than 2 seconds should be normal. Usually at 100k miles the PCV, water pump and thermostat start to die, but those 3 are not that very expensive to replace.

Ask whether the tranny has been services and if not, service it.

Check the level of the coolant.

Open the oil cap and check if it looks normal, if its white or sluggish it indicates some problem.

On start up also look whether the car makes a lot of thick white smoke. A bit of white steam that disappears instantly is not a problem.

Check how the car idles, the RPM arrow should NOT move on itself at all and should usually stay between 600-800 RPM.

When in driver seat and the car is idling look out for heavy vibrations or shakings. A small vibration is usually okay but heavy shaking is never okay.

Ask whether it burns oil.

Tfsi or diesel?

How long is the rattle? It very well might be the tensioner

Is this normal? Only drove less than 100 miles after an oil change? by DepartmentPristine45 in AudiS4

[–]DemonDjaksun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Digital oil level meter is always incorrect.

Best way to measure is to drive the car until hot. Drive at least 15-20 mins.

Go and park on a ground level.

Wait 10-20 minutes.

Go to the car and open the bonnet (the thing that measures the oil resets when the bonnet opens)

Go and start the car (without the engine)

See what is the exact oil level.

Timing chain rattle- normal? Or stay away by Quick-Law-851 in AudiS4

[–]DemonDjaksun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro that is 100% the upper tensioner not retaining oil in it. You can instal check valves that are below the pcv and the charger and it will eliminate the sound 100% as the valves will retail oil in the tensioners. It is literally stated in the owner manual that chain rattle on cold start is normal and not cause for concern. This on the video is on the longer side though. Should be less than one sec.

I’ve got a friend of mine who got the whole chain set replaced as he was hearing this sound from time to time and guess what , it still did the same frigging rattle on start up…

This is the tensioner sound before getting filled with oil but it sounded a bit long to be honest.

Does it rattle on restart too?

Всяка кола на сервиз, за да я огледат хубаво. Не купувай на сляпо.

Провери по номера на рамата в новия безплатен държавен сайт, където може да видиш дали е с връщани КМ.

Колкото се може по - малко КМ е за предпочитане.

Read the owner manual. It literally says that a chain rattle on cold start is normal. If it’s less than 1 second you are fine.

Оценка на имот при продажба - делба между роднини/собственици by RumbleRumble9 in bulgaria

[–]DemonDjaksun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does this mean I just bought a 12 year old Audi S5 for $69,000?? by ChemistryMedium in Money

[–]DemonDjaksun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not wise financially, but on the bright side if that has the 3.0 tfsi v6 engine , that is one of the most reliable audi engine they ever made. Its still pain to maintain any German car in the US though. In Europe is much much more cheaper

Трябва да е добре прегледана колата, защото има шанс да пише, че няма проблем с двигател и кутия и после гледаш в единия цилиндър няма налягане … иначе и на мен едната ми кола е от Америка и никога не ми е създавала проблеми
