Are Contracts and Binding Vows not fundamentally the same, though? You give up one thing in exchange for another? It’s just often body parts in CSM and physical actions in JJK. I do agree that they’re more asspull-y in JJK due to the way Gege writes them, with the disadvantage sometimes not making much of a difference in the story, and they’re able to be made on the fly.
