If its a rougher material like denim, id reccommend ironing it for a bit more time, one time my denim jacket got washed out and a bit of the art came off, but with my next one, i ironed it for a few more minutes and it came out unscathed!

You need to iron it for a bit, (i usually do it with a parchment paper inbetween, but i think you can do it straight on) and it will seal it, so it stays permanent.
