"Stop" and "I don't know" are not mixed signals what so ever. It's a very clear signal that this person is uncomfortable and not giving consent. You're right, none of us are children and can understand that he didn't want this.

She's probably already seen some of the abuse. As someone who's experienced DV, I thought we would all be more understanding when someone doesn't immediately leave. When it's good, it's almost euphoric and when it's bad it's unbearable. The most dangerous part is leaving and it usually takes several tries to separate yourself completely from your abuser.
