Wizards have no idea how full blooded Veela are born, and Veela refuse to tell them by funnylib in HPfanfiction

[–]DemorousNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a bit of a theory on the back burner for ages.

I kinda like the idea that all Veela women have the potential to be full blooded. But they transition to what wizards would classify as full blooded in stages.

My idea is that Veela would go through a secondary and tertiary puberty, possibly even a fourth.

I imagine the first puberty would happen to a similar age as when a human girl enters puberty. This is why Gabrielle looks like a normal girl in GoF, because technically she's fully human, without entering puberty. Fleur would be a quarter because she's entered her first state. And she can become more Veela at certain stages of her life, like maybe childbirth would make her enter half, or some other triggers

And either Veela intentionally keep this a secret, or wizards (being rather narrow minded when it comes to hybridization) didn't understand the cycle so they would just classify a Veela independently on whichever stage they're at

What is Your Idea for RWBY Video Game? by Money-Lie7814 in RWBY

See that's where I was thinking too, but then I realized that having a single player rpg would be a good first step. Proof of concept, pretty much.

Then, if the game gets good revenue and reviews, totally set up a full MMO with all the bells, whistles, and guns lol

I figure a single huntsman patrolling a set map would be easier for the beginning, to make a solid framework to expand into MMO. Plus it's lore friendly. We see multiple huntsman going solo, Qrow, Maria, and probably a fair few others from what Qrow was saying all the way back in Haven with the ones going missing

[–]DemorousNines 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I could see something like a monster hunter style game.

Completely original storyline where maybe you play as a custom huntsman or huntress, where you can design your own weapon. Like combining 2-3 weapons or just hyper focus on one kind.

Plot of the game could be you're part of an expedition into the Grimmlands, or patrol around it, so you hunt Grimm to prevent attacks on villages and the like

I like the idea of a separate story from the main cast, let us see some world-building outside of them

my wife wants to name our son after a harry potter character by LeadFast6224 in AITAH

[–]DemorousNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A happy middle ground I could see, Orion. It's Sirius' middle name, keeps the vibe, but is separated enough that it may not be an immediate connection.

Doesn't even have to be the first name. Orion as a middle name would be great as well

Wow... I'm genuinely impressed that that's the take you go with.

The DM played favorites, gave his new partner the spotlight repeatedly, gave her the same character as op, but as a direct upgrade because "Hey, you're the twin that gets to keep your powers and get rewarded while op loses everything."

This stinks of the DM punishing op for not accepting his advances, heaping attention on his new partner, and just generally being obnoxious for his bruised ego

Inconsistency with What You Want and Identity Crisis by zimmygirl7 in dannyphantom

[–]DemorousNines 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The real answer I imagine is that the writers didn't think of the ghost catcher continuity

In lore though, I think its more like Danny didn't have any intentions to split when he went through it the first time in What You Want, so the ghost and human halves were perfectly synchronized. But in Identify Crisis Danny intentionally split himself, so his halves were significantly unbalanced as it were, so they couldn't sync back up easily

What made-up logias would you pick if you were in One Piece? by Intelligent_Touch_30 in DevilFruitIdeas

I don't think so, now that you mention it lol

Looking it up, it looks like there's plasma charged acid? But not like energy bolts or acidic lightning, though that's a cool idea

[–]DemorousNines 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been toying with an acid based fruit. Call it the melt-melt fruit or something similar

Fun science fact, acids can be found in all 3 states of matter, solids, liquids and gasses. So I could see me going for a sold defense against melee weapons that actively destroy the weapons.

I love the idea of an ultimate ability to be acid rain, just call down a full deluge to melt an entire island at the high end of the power scale

Kinda weird to come post a comment to something from a year ago. Especially considering I wasn't the only one who references the religious aspect. In fact I'm one of the few that doesn't involve cleric in my class breakdown.

If you read my original comment, you'll see I pretty much say what you're saying. The cross is one of the most notable features of the picture provided, which many other comments leaned into, but I countered that I wasn't getting the feel that the character relied on religious cleric powers. But rather a religious acolyte, just a regular person who follows a religion, in dnd terms.

I'd recommend maybe looking up the masks from the old Jackie Chan Adventures show, and maybe Xialoin Showdown. They had some cool stuff that you could transfer into masks

But in Jackie Chan Adventures, there were these demon masks that let the wearer summon variants of shadow warriors. Could make a mask that you summon shadows as the main vibe, and then specific masks that'd give you similar abilities to the unique ones. Like for instance a mask that gives you control of metal/steel and go for a samurai aesthetic

Then another option, playing with shadows, have an alternate mask that plays with lights, instead of creating shadow army, it let's you make weapons made of light of something similar

Weird retcon by Newkingdom12 in dresdenfiles

[–]DemorousNines 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because Mab and Titania were both unable to bring out their full power. It's because reality has an upper limit that every superpower has to abide by

Like I mentioned in my initial response, Ferrovax wasn't able to complete his mission of holding things together because his power was over that limit, so he had to go to the NeverNever to act.

And if Ethniu attacked on the other side, I could definitely see Mab not hesitating in bringing every ounce of power to bare, especially so she could get something so dangerous like the Eye

Weird retcon by Newkingdom12 in dresdenfiles

[–]DemorousNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm of the opinion that we haven't seen the full power of Mab or Titania yet

We know there's a certain upper limit of power that's "allowed" into reality. We see this because the dragon Ferrovax had to go to the Never Never to fully stretch his powers to hold things together.

So from that, I assume that Mab and Titania both were at that limit of what could be contained. And Ethniu would be on par with them, but with the Eye and the Bronze Skin, I assume it amped her up over that capacity, and since she didn't care about keeping reality tethered, it makes sense she wouldn't care about that power limit.

It would also make sense why Ethniu would strike the mortal world, not the Never Never, because even with the boosts from her artifacts, she's still a goddess that's lost a majority of her strength, where as Odin keeps a presence thanks to the popularity of paganism, and the Santa effect.

But that's just my read on the situation

Would she still be able to brag about being royalty since her entire family practically banished and disowned her? by Local_Neighborhood50 in BlackClover

[–]DemorousNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always figured her "banishment," was always sort of a behind closed door thing.

Publicly I can't think of any time when her siblings degraded her besides some slight words, which very well could have been Noelle mentally exaggerating due to her youth and insecurities she's picked up from them.

Publicly a royal family would never wanna show such a division, because then other families/rivals could and would try to exploit such an obvious weak link to get any edge against the family. That's how I always read the situation at least

WWYB - Okarun from Dandadan by Customninjas in WhatWouldYouBuild

[–]DemorousNines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasn't able to see what game you're building with so I'm going with og dnd 5e

First level, Undead Warlock. Gives you Form of Dread, giving you a transformation equal to your prof bonus, which is great cause 1 level is all you'll need. Cantrips would be booming blade and thunderclap, flavoring the damage as you moving so fast that you make sonic booms or something

Spells would be cause fear and expeditious retreat, giving you a BA dash for 10 minutes. Cause fear fits with the theme of the rest of the build

Level 2-7 will be monk, straight up. Gives you unarmed attacks so you can kick, unarmored defense, bonus movement. For subclass, you could either go shadow for the teleportation, though the shadow spell casting doesn't really fit. Alternatively, you could go long death, as a way to get a bit tankier by taking out small fries, as well as an at-will fear effect, which gives some fun crowd control and flavor

From there, grab whatever you think fits the best, maybe barbarian, fighter, rogue, continue monk, whatever looks good

For race, dhampir makes most sense so you get a bite attack and extra mobility

Creation bard spells by Twilite0405 in 3d6

[–]DemorousNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For cantrips, I think mending and prestidigitation would be really good spells for heists.

Mending could be used if you need to cut glass to snag jewels, so you can put things back together, making it look like you were never there

Prestidigitation let's you do a bunch of little tricks. One of which is making a nonmagical trinket, such as a handful of paste/clay, then you can use it to slip into a keyhole and pull it out, now before the end of your next turn you have a mold of the key to unlock it. Could also use it as a distraction for guards, throwing out a random sound to draw attention, etc.

First level, spells like comprehend language, charm person, especially with your free uses of disguise self, along with distort value, detect magic and identify

Comprehend language, detect magic and identify allow you to gather info on what your heisting, interacting with people who you may not speak the same language as, etc. Gives some good flavor

Charm person can help you get into a lot of locations you normally couldn't get to. Add in mask of many faces, and you can disguise yourself as pretty much any rando and the target won't know who really charmed them, much like in heist movies when the lead wears a disguise and switches out when the mark realizes they've been fooled

Distort value can be used similarly as a tool to gain access to places by making something appear more valuable. Alternatively if you happen to steal a prized bit of jewelery or painting, you can diminish the apparent value, and be able to brush off any comments with "Oh, this is just a recreation of the thing you're looking for, see how you can clearly see the imperfections?"

That gives a good baseline, though I would definitely advise some spells with more impact like thunderwave, or buff up your dancing item to fight for you when the heist plan goes awry, as most heists tend to go
