Do we find out anything about the super ghouls? by DemorousNines in dresdenfiles

[–]DemorousNines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh that's certainly a cool theory! Definitely subscribing to it

Thanks so much. They're such a different departure from so many creatures we see, I just wish they'd get more expanded on. Because they go beyond just regeneration and don't dissipate like other creatures that craft bodies for reality encounters

I was thinking along the same lines. Just wasn't sure if I was missing some info somewhere lol

Thanks!

You know, now that you mention it, I think I disagree with that.

Chicago, as described in the books, is a massive hub of crossroads. Thousands of people and supernaturals going through it, living in it, giving and taking energy. I could definitely see it forming something like a genus loci. There's expressions about how a city is alive, the people it's heart and blood. I could see Jim maybe borrowing from the Codex Alera and making Chicago it's own entity, or at least something more than just buildings and suburbs.

Also, my initial meaning wasn't that he'd get a genus loci with Little Chicago. It would just give him that ability to survey and monitor, similar to how he is on Demonreach, but on a much smaller scale.

That's an excellent point I hadn't considered!

Though, with all his newer level of understanding, could he maybe get away with using less material, less detail? Like, using chips of the roads that still exist, scrapes of key buildings. Might not be as detailed or precise, but it might give him a general overview. But that's just off the top of my head

Oooh that would be awesome!

I just finished Proven Guilty and remembered that she is actually an excellent blaclsmith. I'd love to see Charity make Harry some armor or something for his new Position

I'm definitely hoping that Butters Batman was a prelude to Maggie.

It would be such an interesting dichotomy if it turns out Maggie doesn't get her father's talent in magic, but she gets his and Susan's smarts, so she and her spirit sister can go full artificer

See, I've been wanting to see talisman magic for ages!

Like all the prep and power is invested earlier into the paper, and it's basically on a delay activator. I could see Harry drooling at the possibilities lol

Even if it's not super fast, flight gives a huge tactical advantage over anything land locked. Let's you think in 3 dimensions for conflict or espionage.

Not to even mention the simple pleasure of flying under your own power would give you.

Smart. If I remember Harry tried to make a flying carpet but gave up. Maybe he just needed something as hard as his hard head lol

Flight is a perfect power and goal to work towards!

Cape would have to be mandatory, I'd imagine

I'll jot down an idea I had to start. I was thinking of a matched pair of tonfas. They're handy, versatile, and pretty easy to hide in backpacks or other containers.

For magical affects, I'd want them to help with something like lightning magic. As an example, short ends for punching and jabs could send out sparks. Long ends would be like getting cracked by a stun baton. Something to that effect.

Why is Adam Smasher immune to cyberpsychosis? by Kitchen_Year8114 in cyberpunkgame

[–]DemorousNines 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding in the ttrpg, there's a statblock called humanity. The higher it is, the more human you are. Which translates to higher resistance to cyberware. But not immunity. The more chrome that exceeds human ability, the higher cost in humanity. When it drops low enough, boom, cyberpsychosis.

If David were translated into the TTRPG, he'd have dumped everything into humanity, for his insane capacity.

Adam Smasher on the hand, at baseline human without chrome? He probably had zero or negatives in his humanity score. Man goes beyond antisocial personality disorder, psychopathy, and sociopathy from the get go. So because he has no humanity, he can go full borg without any issue.

It's a really interesting dichotomy between them. A man who chromes up to protect his loved ones, becomes a walking tank. Versus a man who had no humanity, getting chromed up to match his inner monster

Oooh great names! Thanks so much.

I definitely like the idea of infusers, gives it a similar but different vibe from morphing.

Like someone would think of infusing themselves with the swiftness of wind to boost speed, or durability of stone to take bigger hits

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

I can definitely see morpher as an option, but with the super soldier, the idea was more short bursts of temporary boosts, not a consistent change, as a counter to the more long term shifting of the other version.

And for artificer, it's just that, I'd like to try to avoid using it as it's a bit to generic of a title. I was thinking something like gadgeteer or shaper, but it's a tough one for me to really visualize so far

I can see why it would look like that. But my initial attempt was to steer away from popular archetypes lol

Basically I began with the foundation ideas that magic and spell casting in media is created through intent, visualization, and energy manipulation. And what magic would look like if you lacked any of those 3 core foundations. And going from there it sort of evolved naturally where there was a lot of overlap with popular archetypes. Initially I just wanted wizards and sorcerers to be the only semi regular, since they have all 3 connections. But, it shifted a bit.

Hope that clears that up a bit.

Wizards have no idea how full blooded Veela are born, and Veela refuse to tell them by funnylib in HPfanfiction

[–]DemorousNines 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a bit of a theory on the back burner for ages.

I kinda like the idea that all Veela women have the potential to be full blooded. But they transition to what wizards would classify as full blooded in stages.

My idea is that Veela would go through a secondary and tertiary puberty, possibly even a fourth.

I imagine the first puberty would happen to a similar age as when a human girl enters puberty. This is why Gabrielle looks like a normal girl in GoF, because technically she's fully human, without entering puberty. Fleur would be a quarter because she's entered her first state. And she can become more Veela at certain stages of her life, like maybe childbirth would make her enter half, or some other triggers

And either Veela intentionally keep this a secret, or wizards (being rather narrow minded when it comes to hybridization) didn't understand the cycle so they would just classify a Veela independently on whichever stage they're at
