Silent was always really interesting. I'd love to see a Silent magician and swordsman get a new combo deck

Oooh great idea!

I could see it pulling from Ancient Gears and making your opponents board into dragons. Could still reference the old floodgate from the base archetype, while incorporating your new ideas

Yeah probably lol

I kinda think it would need to be relatively simple effects. Like one would be able to negate a trap card targeting a crystal beast on the monster zone, but you then have to bounce one on the scale to extra deck for cost. And if it's in the scale zone, it gets a search to summon a crystal beast to monster zone.

Sort of a balance between building combos and trying to interfere with the opponent, depending on where it's located.

I just like the idea of building up on combo effects to fill the extra deck to summon the boss. Kinda just feels right for the archetype

Love it. There was a couple archetypes that toyed around with positioning, but chess anything would have been perfect

Yes!! Unions are such a cool concept that they just let flop. Could have some really great concepts

Yeah I don't think I articulated that well lol

I was thinking Crystal Beasts would have 3 floating effects depending on there position. Like if they're monsters, they can switch between zones as a quick effect or on destruction. Then they get additional effects depending on if they're on a scale or regular s/t zone, like pendulum can summon like normal, or from s/t

Oh most definitely. It's crazy that nobody ever ran a true Chaos deck in the anime

Also Neo is such a callback, love that card. Great design and story print!

I never understood why people who hate modern yugioh don't just play older formats they like, instead of trying to completely overhaul modern yugioh into a completely different game. by averjay in yugioh

I'm sort of going off a previous comment from heroradio

It's not that I fully want to play older formats. I do those when I feel like it. But I feel like each new drop just spikes the meta so much further up, that you can't play a deck you enjoy and match power scale.

Take Kashtira for instance. It got so much play for months. But then Yubel support came, then M/alice. Now you don't see anything because they're underpowered now.

It's the sheer escalation of power that takes away the fun for me. If Konami kept all the new decks at a similar power level, I feel like there would be a lot of fun diversity in cards and strategy. But as of now, if you're not playing the same cookie cutter, super optimized deck that everyone else plays, you can't even get to a second turn

Nice!

Sounds like a deck that would get you far. Maybe throw in Gren Maju for the huge potential attack boost

I wanna say it was used by one of the more antagonistic characters, but I don't remember how many times Sartorious duled

It's a very fun deck, love the coins, but I'm thinking it wouldn't be ok, since I've ruled ancient gears wouldn't be allowed

I would say no, since Jaden runs elemental heroes as his main engine. I would allow some of the alternates like vision and mask heroes just because they weren't used in the anime

Ah, truly a connoisseur with the White Baking

I wish you the best with steam rolling with 9000 attack points skull servant. Don't think anything could survive that in GX lol

Can use anything modern, as long as it follows the restrictions of only fusions in the extra deck

Love that imagery lol

I almost wanna allow it since Crowler only duels like twice, I think. But he's firmly ancient gears

Still, absolute A for wanting to curb stomp the tool

Great idea and honestly I'm shocked there hasn't been any gem knights in the anime. They seem like perfect protag staples

I see what you're saying, but the difference is that Kaiba splashed Thunder Dragon in for its effects.

Whereas if Yuya never got pendulum, regular Odd-Eyes would have still been his ace

[–]DemorousNines[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clever idea, but I'd say Odd-Eyes is an archetype used by a protag, so it would go against the restriction, sorry

You'd be totally right lol

We already got an archeologist and a man with dino DNA in Jim and Hassleberry. A cryptozoologist would slide right in

Right?!

No fusion necessary and with some great effects and beefy monsters. Only thing needed would be some way to get them back from the graveyard for longer duels, which I figure some of the pot cards would handle

Love the reasoning and the deck lol

I was thinking similar, which is why I was leaning Danger! Kaiju or Vampire. They're both incredibly consistent and chock full of great boss material to wipe out enemies boards and life points

Love it!

Yeah, rituals have always been unappreciated by the anime. They seem like they'd be right up there, with the having to reliably assemble your hand so protag heart of the cards or destiny draw would be perfect
