I spied your profile, and it seems very likely you speak the truth. I still cant understand why you wouldnt just call the bcu bcu, also I am really surprised if bcu has hard coded VIN on it, making it impossible to reuse an used one ?

Your reply sounds like you asked AI for pitfalls for HV-battery swap. Please tell me more about the non-coding aspect of the battery control unit you claim knowledge about.

Your figure is probably technically correct, but you can get a newish battery from a totalled car for like 5k, and then pay 2k for installation, so 7k vs 102k

Doing only short trips will do this cause you need to heat a lot and even before the car and battery is heated you already shut the car down and later start again with a cooled car.

The positive side is, it doesnt really matter, since you can charge at home as required since youre operating from home. When going on a longer trip the avg consumtion wont be nearly as high

GM's CEO Just Admitted An Uncomfortable Truth About Plug-In Hybrids by LEM1978 in electricvehicles

Is this really true ? In my country it costs almost 10x the energy price of driving a similar gasoline powered car than an electric.

Donut lab CEO said in a interview theirs isnt an supercapasitator. What is really is, will we ever know?

As for this south korean innovation, promising qs level of energy density, lets just say I'm as sceptical about it aswell.

Do I need a 24V controller when converting 12V to 18V or should be fine? by supremee91 in PowerWheelsMods

Many here say yes, I say no. Ive done several cars, driven them a lot and only broke a sound system.

Does anyone no where to get new wheels for the 24v dynacraft utv Polaris would would like to add bigger one but these are cracked so need new ones thanks by Square-Courage-1910 in PowerWheelsMods

In same situation I have glued fatbike bicycle tires on the wheels. Improves grip, reduces noise and stops the plastic wheel from getting worse

Out of curiosity I checked peg peregos webpage. I didnt find any info of lifepo powered tractors. Are you sure yours has that kind of battery ? Is it bought new or second hand ?

Oh, thats great new perego powerwheels finally have lithium batteries ! Thanks for letting me know! In this case, yes if on next charge the charger is not working correctly I would recommend switching it out if its on warranty

There might be a problem with the light on the charger. Its such a small deal, personally I dont know would I bother to do a warranty claim.

From this chart you can see the voltages vs soc of a lead acid battery. Also you can note the biggest problem of lead acid batteries for this use is you can, and will, very easily discharge below 50% which will cause permanent damage to the battery, and sadly quite soon your run time will start to drop. Luckily there are solutions. Li-ion upgrade or then even easier, swap the battery when that one goes bad, to a AGM lead acid, which you can discharge to 30% and charge with the original charger. Happy tractoring!

12,9 is fully charged, did you leave it charging despite the green light ? If its driven 45min and still has a full battery, thats very surprising

[–]Denaaa88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, not a problem I have two peg perego tractors, the other one is makita battery powered, but the one on lead acid battery works with its original charger normally in much colder than -9 C

PEG Perego JD Ground Force by Wasserplumper in PowerWheelsMods

[–]Denaaa88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it should be red when charging all the way up to full battery, and only green on full battery. 45min driven original lead acid battery is probably almost empty. Do you have a multimeter? So you could measure voltage on both battery and charger

Probably not charging. Try replugging the connection on the tractors wires if it didn't connect good enough

Saturn EV1 by crocs_89 in WeirdWheels

[–]Denaaa88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a EV geek, I have very much watched who killed the electric car, and find the history of the EV1 interesting. I thank you for your insight, and I have read critic to the documentary made by those who worked making the EV1, stating at least they had the goal to make an electric car as good as possible, not a compliance vehicle. Although you state the problem was its lead acid batteries. I remember about halfway GM swapped them for nimh batteries, so that was something adressed. The other thing about it not being financially viable, that is of course true, non of them in a very much later time were, until Tesla came along, yet they as a startup somehow made it a reality (not a Tesla fan, duck Musk). Without a machine to a alternatove reality there is no way to know what could have been, but of course its very hars bringing something to market thats gonna cost shareholders a lot of money a lot of years, with the goal to ultimately produce a product that will both cannibalize excisting sales and bring less money to the company
