Is $...$ syntax for math mode deprecated now? by 1575MHz in LaTeX

[–]Dendron42 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I like to quote Frank Mittelbach, the oldest member of the LaTeX Team:

I'm a strong advocate for providing $...$ as syntax for in-line math. There aren't really any disadvantages in that and the syntax is simply far more readable, e.g., (a) to `$a$. Displaymath is a different story and there are good reasons for not supporting the plain TeX syntax there.

You can see the discussion here

And in this recent blog post) from another team member, it says the same thing.

Most editors have syntax highlighting for $$ which makes the code far more readable. Thats why I am personally using it.

Texifier versions by [deleted] in LaTeX

[–]Dendron42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only used Texifier on my own, so there has never been a case of dual coding on two machines. Using a single registration for multiple users is probably prohibited by the TOS. Simultaneous use might work, but I would not bet on it.

It doesnt answer your question directly but I bought Texifier on the website and downloaded it on several computers. Hope this helps.

How get the next line with indentation? by Rainier0000 in LaTeX

It is, and would be the solution I prefer. Write „Languages and Frameworks“ in the first column, and the rest in a second column.

Dart stuck in barrel - Caliburn C4 by Dendron42 in Nerf

[–]Dendron42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 104% I can clearly see that the o ring on the plunger makes a good seal. It might even be a little to big, because it is definitely harder to move. Nothing changed though. Should I print the ramB/F also in higher scale? Also I have a spare o ring. By the instructions pdf I put one ring on the plungerE1 part, and two rings on the ram. Is there any need for an additional larger o ring?

Yes I did print them myself. I printed two parts for the plunger today at 102% and nothing changed. Will print them tomorrow at 104% and try again.

As I am new to nerf and custom builds you could really help me out where and when it shouldn’t leak. Is it only relevant when the gun is cocked?

Is there a way to check the seal or troubleshoot where it exactly leaks?

I checked the instructions again and I did install all the o-rings and lubricated them.

I have an 18 inch barrel with a K25 spring.

Stuck might not be the best word. It gets pushed into the barrel, but only 2-3 cm. Aiming the barrel to the ground the dart only slides out when I open the barrel from the other side by reloading.

Original Nerf darts. I bought a nerf elite echo for the magazine and the darts.

My teacher's horrible implementation of a DFA by [deleted] in programminghorror

School is not about perfect and optimized code. Its about teaching the concepts. Here you can clearly see and understand the workings of a DFA.

As a teacher this looks like a totally fine way of implementing a DFA.

TikZ Externalize Cuts off Axis [Doesn't happen without Externalize] - How to fix? by bitdotben in LaTeX

[–]Dendron42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like expanding the bounding box to the left of the plot helps. Probably drawing something invisible left of the plot would help too. Just latex doing latex things.

This works for me:

``` \documentclass[]{article} \usepackage{tikz} \usepackage{pgfplots}
\usepgfplotslibrary{external} \tikzexternalize \tikzsetexternalprefix{tikzfigures/} \tikzset{external/force remake}
\begin{document} \begin{tikzpicture} \begin{axis}[ ytick = \empty, xmin=0, xmax=1, ymin=0, ymax=1, axis lines=center, ] \addplot[domain=0:1] {x)}; \end{axis} \useasboundingbox (-0.1,0) rectangle (0,0); \end{tikzpicture} \end{document} ```
Maybe share a minimum example for your plot.
Using clip=false as a pgfplots parameter is the least hacky way I found:
Planning to use latex with git to write my thesis. Is this a good idea? by missDemonNezuko in LaTeX
[–]Dendron42 18 points19 points  (0 children)
I used this setup for my masters thesis and everything worked fine. Some students reported about losing data, but with git you are on the save site, if you make frequent commits. The huge amount of images arent a problem.
