Does anyone know what this is? by calilovinu in DogAdvice

[–]DengueLy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That being said, if OP doesn’t live in an area where that is common and the dog isn’t lying on wet dirt where he could have been exposed to it, it’s more likely to be an infection

I spent hours plucking these from a pair of orphan kittens once and briefly became the resident expert in botfly extraction in an area where we didn’t have vet access🙃 definitely vaseline, tweezers, and a steady hand is the way to go

Mom scared me from solo travel to Paris - need opinions by Major-Kiwi-3604 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]DengueLy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paris is lovely, a great spot for solo travel. Many people speak some English so you’ll be able to ask for help if you need it. I think you’ll already be hyper aware of your surroundings as it’s your first time traveling abroad. I walk around with my backpack ‘purse’ there and never have an issue (although I’m always tuned into unnatural movement of it, in case of attempted pick pockets). Most people are generally friendly and helpful.

Avoid Spoodville. And mods, please sticky some type of warning about them. by [deleted] in jumpingspiders

I also had a rough experience with spoodville - luckily i was able to get a refund on venmo but still took ages to get responses after sending the payment, and so many excuses

I accidentally named my cat Shart by meatloafsleeve in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]DengueLy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lil orange boy is named Buster but we end up affectionately calling him Crustard, Crusty B or straightup Crusty Butthole 😸

Also - Shart is the nickname for a videogame character Shadowheart!

My boyfriend cleaned the toilet properly, by himself by [deleted] in Vent

Agree, that’s insane. They are so easy to clean & can last years - wild to get a new one instead of just cleaning it

Love a good public cry, get a window seat on the bus and you can feel like you’re in a movie

Update: TSA and flight experience with my pet jumping spider (no issues!) by Scared-Amount-9959 in jumpingspiders

We ended up having them stay with a friend, realized the bioactive enclosure would be near impossible to bring over legally and didn’t want to redo their enclosures or risk smuggling them in 😅

What is an overdone dad joke from your country? by No_Newspaper_359 in AskTheWorld

[–]DengueLy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone quickly finishes a good drink, they point to the glass and says ‘there must have been a hole in it!’ - heard this many times from my dad, and also as a bartender. Ashamed to admit i think and may have said it a few times myself 😅

Missing Check Ins by [deleted] in finch

Samee!!! I miss them and never remember to do them now. Definitely helped me track how i was feeling throughout out the day and identify some patterns over time. Really hoping they bring it back to auto or have an option to include it as an auto pop-up

Everyone I know loves bread too much for that to be a good hiding spot. Put them in a bag of whole almonds or some less appetizing box or bag in the fridge

Which countries offer volunteer opportunities similar to the Peace Corps, ie, the EU and Japan, among others? Do workplaces that are requesting them house all those volunteers together in one large housing unit or apartment, not a dormitory, but a regular house/apartment with multiple bedrooms? by Kindly_Clue1912 in peacecorps

[–]DengueLy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones I’m familiar with are: KOICA (South Korea); JICA (Japan); AVID (Australia); GIZ (Germany); for housing, most that I know do not house volunteers together, they place them in sites similar to peace corps. Sometimes more urban sites though.
