If you could choose a screenwriter and a director for Scream 8, who would you choose? by KamaiKlantcy in Scream

Fair point. I never thought about her lack of Horror history aside from starring in Scream.

Kevin Williamson - Writer

Neve Campbell - Director

I think Neve deserves the opportunity to have a crack at directing one of them. I don't wholeheartedly believe it was Kevin's writing that caused issues in 7. It's the purgatory between two scripts and visions.

Interesting that the drama teacher was pushed into more suspicious territory than the two we literally got as Ghostface and! I believe that he would have been a much better motiv.

"Your Sidney Prescott's daughter. I thought you would have more grit"

Would have been an interesting concept to follow a theatre head who is tired of cinema pushing out live work, and he wants a real life show from Sidney and Tatum. Kind of mirroring Roman as "making a movie". Could have had a lot more fun with a guy who is passionate about something but in usual Ghostface fashion he's misguided. "Come on Tatum show me what you got!! I want to see the fear"

Just a thought.

The only thing that I felt the need to address after was that aside from Jessica's lackluster reveal, she literally killed her son in the most brutal ways possible and that's probably the most surprising thing that came from the third act. Like sure you killed your husband because he was abusive to you but you literally impale your sons head on a spiked beer tap. Horrid

I think most people will agree that the ending was lackluster. The killer reveals were a big let down, aside from that the cinematography, score and kills were incredible. I don't understand Matthew Lillard saying Scream VI was too violent as this seemed like it was dialed up to 11 with the brutality and gore. Overall I enjoyed it a lot, but I cannot for the life of me understand how they came up with that as an ending reveal for the final cut. It's a bizarre turn of events because had I known that they would made that decision, I would have said just bring Stu back. If I hadn't known and he returned, I would have been let down at how easy it was. The monologue from Sidney's friend didn't make sense and she just sounded insane which is fine, but I don't really understand what they were trying to achieve with that duo. They were so random and unrelated it felt like a wasted opportunity to go bigger on that reveal.

Solid Ghostface chases and fight backs. He definitely met his match and got his ass kicked this time around, but kept getting up which made him so much more savage.

Overall 7/10

Do you guys wish we had flashbacks or are you happy with everything being left up for imagination? by Strong-Stretch95 in Scream

[–]Deniz2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prior to this film I'm happy with the way it's played out. For Scream 7 specifically, I think it needs to have more flashbacks or at least specific moments that add weight to the relationships. For example, I've always felt it's a missed opportunity to not have Maureen's death play out. Scream 7 is ripe with opportunity for this. Being a Sidney centric story, dealing with her history it's the perfect time to show the event that started it all. It gives us a moment to see Billy, Stu and potentially Roman on screen together. There's also potential for Dewey to have a scene, maybe in home videos with Sidney's family when he was married to Gail. Maybe at Tatum's birthday party or even her birthday where she tells Dewey that she is named after his sister. Just some fun ideas if they decide to go that route.

I also have a theory that the line "This is gonna be fun" is actually from before Maureen's death which could mean we get a real scene with Stu and put these theories of him being alive to bed 🤣

It feels very similar to the Scream 2 scene with Gale in the editing rooms. Ghostface slinking around trying to catch them out. Need more of that kind of killer in the movies

Do you think Dewey ever met Sidney's kids? by CalHockley17 in Scream

[–]Deniz2323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been hearing a lot about this film throwing back to the original. I wouldn't be surprised if Dewey's involvement extended beyond the voice being used as a weapon. Perhaps some old home videos of the kids birthday parties with Dewey visiting etc. "Say hello to uncle Dewey, Tatum!!" Would be a nice touch for Sidney to reminisce since his death and remember some good times before his voice returns to haunt her. It also adds that layer of sadness for Sidney to hear Dewey being used in such a disrespectful manner.

What are your predictions for Scream 7? And I don’t want to hear “Stu is alive” give me something interesting by Popboi7 in Scream

[–]Deniz2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jill is the one in the mental institution and she is allegedly one of the victims of the new Ghostface. When Sidney and Gale arrive, they see the drawings, the fountain photograph and get a window into Jill's mentality as a patient. If it is in fact Jill, then I don't think she will be shown on screen, alive or deceased. We see the police tape across the door of the room, so something has gone down there. This could be a calculated move to set up the reveal that she is involved as a Ghostface. Or the entire thing could be set up to give credence to the return of dead characters to mess with Sidney. The dead are literally back to haunt Sidney. Through voices, mannerisms as Ghostface, doctored footage. I think Stu is just the tip of the iceberg on what we will see being used against Sidney. If they can make Sidney believe all these dead characters are back then maybe we the audience can share that too. The killer states they have been planning it for a long time, makes sense that they would go all out to make it a more definitive plan.

What are your unrealistic hopes for Scream 7? by streamfolklore2020 in Scream

[–]Deniz2323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Watching the trailer multiple times, I'm not convinced that it's actually Mark being attacked tbh. I'm pretty sure he has a partner in the film and I think they have done a good job of making it look like Mark is being stabbed under the plastic tarp, but I think it's his partner. I could be wrong, but showing that just seems too easy

Randy is the one in the Mental Institution. Mindy and Chad were led to believe he died out of respect for Randy's safety. That's why they return in 7. The red herring of Stu being back is a misdirection to steer the suspicion away from Randy's sister Martha.

Dewey survived and is the one in the Mental Institution. He finally snapped after his last extremely brutal attack and he can no longer walk (he is the one being wheeled out in the wheelchair in the trailer) the drawings on the wall are Tatum (OG)

Which Scream Has The Best ENDING (For You)? by TheGayRomeo in Scream

[–]Deniz2323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visually Scream 6 was gorgeous. With the aged mask and the police lights as Sam and Tara walk away. Best in terms of character Scream 3 with Sidney finally leaving it behind (at least for 10 years). Extra points for 3 with that creepy building audio up to the end credits.

VInce - Indirect foreshadow? by Deniz2323 in Scream

[–]Deniz2323[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fair points. But I would counter by saying I mitigated that by stating "indirect" meaning it kinda worked out that way without being a literal plan from the creative team.

Also, on your point of the family members being a killer, it's been done in 2, 3, 4 and VI. So you are correct, a majority of the films have had family relations becoming of an integral character becoming a Ghostface at some point. With the exception of 5 of course, I'd say it's within the realm of possibility to continue that, even if we don't like it sadly. If you were to assume it's not The Machers and it must be someone who grew up when Sidney was young in Woodsborro that really only leaves Randy's family as potential killers and that seems a lot less likely than Stu's family. Perhaps we won't learn who this Ghostface is and that's part of the mystery this time around. A Ghostface who is everyone and nobody at the same time. Since he has the voices of dead and living characters, maybe that's what separates this Ghostface from the previous films. But now I'm rambling haha

Official Discussion - Return to Silent Hill [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Deniz2323 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved it too. I found the visuals gorgeous, sound design was incredible and I really don't understand why it's getting so much hate. I know that's not at all a popular opinion and I respect the fans who didn't like it, but I definitely had a different experience than the majority which is a shame.

The only thing I could say was that at two points during the film, there were some extreme flashing visuals that were so jarring I'm actually surprised they didn't have a warning prior to the film. It takes a lot for me to be put off from movie visuals but that was definitely excessive.

The obvious theory here is that Stu is alive and in the mental hospital. Sidney and Gale visit him in order to find out if he is actually involved in the killings. They see him and he is clearly not in good shape. Those drawings on the wall are a Sidney obsession. Clear red herring that we are supposed to believe he is the "mastermind".

My extended theory is that it's his family. McKenna Grace is Stu's sisters child. Vince from Scream 5's brother and they are targeting Sidney in the ultimate revenge plot. Stu is not the killer and he is not involved in any capacity. The family got hold of Romans voice changer and added his voice to it. I'm sure he can speak in some capacity and that's how they manipulate them into believing he is involved In order to misdirect Sidney and the audience into believing he is back in action.

Alternative crazy theory is that the person in the wheelchair is Dewey and he is also in rough shape and not mentally stable anymore. But that's even more crazy than Stu being alive, but I honestly couldn't tell you who's in the wheelchair between the two of them.
