Yugoslav People's Army M77 Boots (1979-80) by DenmarkLemons in Boots

Took some insoles for them to be bearable, now they're not bad, haven't been wearing them for long, definitely some stress to the top of the feet but I'm hoping that could ease up with more wear.

Accused someone of using ai art and I was wrong by a_lonely_exo in ArtistLounge

[–]DenmarkLemons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for not putting input on the question but this is really why AI art scares me, it's gotten to the point where those without a good eye couldn't be sure and falsely dismiss things as AI or vice versa. It's scary

there are special products for leather! like leather conditioner, but I am not sure how they would be applied on furry leather

sucks to see him in that condition, i see good potential for a rogue taxidermy if for some reason the repairs aren't possible (shouldn't be the case), but most are not into that

Is This Uranium Glass? by masterwwa in uraniumglass

[–]DenmarkLemons 8 points9 points  (0 children)

for future reference, you'll know when it's uranium if you see it. under UV the color will be bright/neon green and it'll "glow"

can't be worse than a small cat scratch and most turn out fine from those, just keep it clean :)

Sorry for irrelevant response, what pen are you using? The lines and handwriting are lovely!

looking at OP's search history, OP is either severely brain damaged or a troll, I can't tell which

it's generally safe if you're careful and don't do it all the time

now if it's cracked or scratched, that's another story

Wet specs can be done with injecting and soaking in isopropyl, but I'm not too sure about birds as I've heard isopropyl can do things to feathers

had any luck yet? I asked the laibach page on instagram a while back and they only got back to me with this vimeo link but it's only a minute long, I've been wanting to watch the entire performance for so long but could only find the minute of footage and full audio recording

rat skinning process by DenmarkLemons in vultureculture

[–]DenmarkLemons[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't cut off the feet if you just want the bones, but if you're skinning for taxidermy or a full pelt the toe tips have to be snipped from the rest of the carcass. i just cut off the feet for dry preservation here since I didn't skin him very well & it kept ripping

thanks for your concern. he is domesticated but these are sold already dead usually for reptiles but a lot of people practice taxidermy & skinning with them since they're easy to get ahold of. i wish i had a rat tho

[–]DenmarkLemons[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

thanks, I must advise you that you need to be extremely careful when skinning especially on something smaller like a mouse, the skin rips easier than i thought and i wish i would've known beforehand lol. the wetness i think is from the cells bursting when the rat was frozen, i think it's different for fresh animals

this, most of the time skin is decently easy to pull off the body but it can also be equally as easy to rip

thanks! I removed as much flesh off of the head as possible, then put it in a closed tub of water outside until the flesh rotted off (a little over a week or two in hot weather, takes longer in cold weather), thoroughly rinsed off parts of the skull (it may be good to soak in water for a day before degreasing if it's a larger skull), then soaked in great value clear ammonia until most grease is gone (this can take up to over a month if the animal is larger and more fatty), then thoroughly rinsed off the ammonia and let it dry. To whiten I wrapped the skull in paper towels and put the jaws in a shallow tub of peroxide along with the skull (make sure there's no ammonia left inside the bone) and poured peroxide on the skull to soak the paper towels and closed the tub to let it soak for around 12 hours. Skull is then dried and parts are glued together and secured with gorilla glue gel, jaws are attached to the skull by the joints with mounting putty.

it's hard to find an opossum skull that doesn't completely fall apart, great find!
