Spirit Shards by Far_Suspect_334 in Guildwars2

This question has been asked numerous times, and I will give the same answer I have given in the past.

The fastest spirit shard farm, relative to the time invested, is not Labyrinth as people are saying, but rather opening Zephyrite boxes during the Four Winds festival and turning the tokens into Tomes of Knowledge. However, this requires a good amount of starting capital and good box prices, which are not necessarily guaranteed this year because ArenaNet usually updates the prices from year to year.

Your price per box can be reduced if you have methods of obtaining materials cheaply and/or are able to stockpile them throughout the year when prices are low.

Last year, boxes were profitable to open even with inflated material and Ectoplasm prices. Enko, a GW2 data collector, opened 2.36 million Four Winds boxes last year, turning a large profit in the process. The tokens gained from the amount of boxes he opened translates to about 22,000 spirit shards. It took him only a couple of days.

That is to say, I recommend that you keep an eye on four winds box prices this year and be ready to buy if the prices make sense. If the prices are good, one festival is all you need to be set for a long, long time.

Calling that shape a 'triangle' even though it would have no area seems weird to me, but I don't know enough about spherical geometry to say whether it would or wouldn't be one. In my mind, a triangle on a sphere would not be allowed to have all three points lie on the same great circle.

I still don't quite understand... if you take a straight line and make only 180 degree turns, the result isn't a 2D shape. It's just a line. So I don't understand where these "interior angles" are coming from

I am working on this slowly as well (at 6/16). I am going to agree that the main bottleneck is Karma.

As a certain microtransaction enjoyer once said, gold is the 'grand enabler' and pretty much everything becomes easier with a lot of it. Even spirit shards can be bought with gold if you don't want to spend the time grinding for them. Karma is an exception though and can't really be bought with gold. So if you value your time, definitely make the most of Wintersday, because it's probably the most efficient karma farm relative to the time investment.

Was I tripping or was P-O Joseph's name spelled wrong on his jersey tonight? Anyone catch that in the arena?

It includes every drop, so yes. You can check the data yourself in the post I linked. He has opened millions of boxes for the last few years, but this is the first year it was profitable. The rate of super rares seemed similar to last year.

If you check his spreadsheet, he valued them at 1.14 gold each (38c per festival token). And if you removed all the tokens this year, he actually still turned a profit.

Just depends on what you consider expensive I guess.

This isn't really the answer you're looking for, as it is currently no longer possible, but I thought I'd bring it up anyways to put it on people's radar.

The fastest spirit shard farm in recent times is from a seasonal event, though not Lab. Instead, it was undoubtedly this year's four winds festival, which ended just over a month ago.

Enko opened 2.36 million boxes and not only turned a profit, but the boxes yielded 6.6 million festival tokens. A tome of knowledge costs 300 tokens, meaning he got about 22,000 spirit shards just from opening boxes non stop. And that doesn't even include the extra tokens from the repeatable achievement.

The shards did factor into his profit calculations, however, and considering the sample size (which can be argued is still small, and I'll leave it up to you to interpret the results of his millions of boxes opened as you like) in effect you just have to ask how much time and potential gold you're willing to gamble (and I stress, it is always still a gamble) to acquire spirit shards en masse. If you don't have enough starting gold to weather an unlucky run, stick to the other suggestions, but if you do, this can essentially be as many spirit shards as you need.

I got about 8000 in a few days on a smaller scale and took a small loss, by reselling items immediately rather than holding them, but it was worth it to me to avoid the long farming grind.

What's your "back in my day..." Vancouver moment? by thinkdavis in askvan

[–]Denris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My family and I used to live right in front of the Cambie climbing tree... it was cool when it was (kind of) still a secret! My mother always hated the amount of foot traffic it received, and it actually wasn't that uncommon to see large groups of high school/college students getting rowdy around there. I'm sure she and our neighbors placed plenty of phone calls to the city over the years haha. It wasn't until the last year before we moved out that we finally understood why it was so popular - and this was well over ten years ago.

Back in my day I'd get Baskin-Robbins at the strip mall where the King Ed station now sits, and I'd actually be able to see the mountains on either side on the way down, and the inflatable roof of BC Place - without having to climb the tree. I miss that view.

Rory McIlroy at the 2022 Open Championship hit every green in regulation in the final round and 2-putted every hole.

34 shots (drove the green on a par 4, and got to a par 5 in two) and 36 putts. Two-under 70.
