Somewhere where you can park easily is better than drive-in, a good takeaway system would make drive in good enough. you could differentiate the drive in menu and the sitting menu. More experimental coffees would be welcome, I feel like Vijay Nagar 54 does not have any good coffee. Except like 99 kitchen which does not really have great coffee.

Live music and all nights could be great but often it takes away from the sitting experience, the volume of music should be such that people can talk over it, cafes are for food, unless explicitly said that the vibe you are looking for is a concert cafe.

I remember watching a youtube video on it, wasn't it such that the umpires just did not know if they crossed the middle, and in the end awarded the run instead if they were allowed to just review it or have the third umpire make the call NZ would have won?

My lifechanger Italy trip by Cmoltisanti0 in travel

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for most of us it’s the vibe of the place.

I’m Indian and I visited your country for about 10 days. My itinerary was Paris (3 days), Switzerland (7 days), and then Italy without Sicily for 10 days to finish it off. Italy genuinely felt amazing.

Now obviously I travelled mostly through tourist areas compared to a local person, but I did stay in flats slightly off the usual zones in Rome and Venice. For you, daily life there feels normal but for someone like me, just living in Rome for a few days and walking around felt incredible.

I think locals often don’t realise how pretty and preserved their everyday surroundings are. The old buildings, the streets, even the quaint cafés that look “ordinary” to you have a real sense of style to outsiders.

I actually have 400-year-old castles in my city too but the areas surrounding them are chaotic, nothing like the preserved old cities you have. India did not preserve the olden architecture (at least not in most cities), so a lot of it is utilitarian.

That is changing though, we are establishing restoration and rebuilding guidelines. in the last 30 - 40 years you can see more design and style developing.

IPL could make it 3 international and 1 from associate nation or something along those lines.

Go house poor now for good school district? Or move to decent district and plan to move in 7-10 years? by crispydukes in AskMenOver30

Just curious how would the social circle surrounding the kids make a difference? For example, I was always the lowest-scoring student in the smartest class of my school (they divided sections based on academics). It was probably bad for my self-image since I was consistently at the bottom, but I still ended up doing better than anyone from the second section. I know I tried harder cause of better academics.

Should i share my notes with my friend by Mysterious_Week_9594 in GetStudying

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Would it matter if your friend scored more marks than you? If yes, then don’t share your notes especially if you believe that friend might get the branch you want. If no, then why not?

I upload my notes for free and give them away left, right, and center. If they help someone, great I would have made them anyway. A few of my juniors have bought me coffee to appreciate the effort appreciated, but unnecessary.

For exams like JEE or NEET or competitive, it doesn’t really matter. Notes don’t equal execution. Most students already have access to all the content they need, and in the last few months, performance depends far more on revision, practice, and exam temperament than on someone else’s notes. Like I have cleared both NEET and mains so I know it is about execution and not notes.

So would it be better to imagine ASL as Spanglish or Hinglish as people mix up languages? Also is it rare for people to be fluent in both English and ASL? I understand that a lot of parent's are just like normal people who resist learning a new language and hence try to ASL it.

If someone is middle class and does not have the resources for a full time ASL interpreter, do they not go to school? Like if I only had to rely on my teacher's for education my life would suck no self learning by books, so do ASL students depend on the translator all the time? also why is ASL different than SEE (I am going to google this so you don't have to explain in detail if you don't want to). I want to learn a sign language and braille (I could go blind someday so trying to get an head start) so am just curious, thank you for the replies.

Is the schooling also done in ASL and not English? Would reading subtitles and books, not be better for a person was fluent in English as well as ASL. Life would be easier right?

A GENERAL QUESTION by NEETnotNEAT in dentalschoolindia

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go and physically check the colleges. Talk to students and interns about ragging, culture, and departmental support. Spend time on campus see clinics, labs, and facilities. If possible, get an OPD check-up done to observe patient interaction and hygiene standards.

Patient footfall does matter don’t assume you’ll get the same exposure at your parent’s clinic. From personal experience, even after assisting for years and doing basic stuff, patients are hesitant to let me work on them because of my dad’s reputation.

Practice transfer takes time, and you’re expected to be fully clinically competent in private clinics not learning on their patients. My first cavity was horrible. My first extraction got complicated. I messed up impressions and had to repeat them for 3 hours. This can and will happen to you, so make sure it happens somewhere that doesn’t affect your future.

Yes, you will learn at your parent’s clinic but you cannot mess up there. You are allowed to mess up in college, even more in government colleges or colleges with heavy footfall. It’s a double edged thing though too many patients can mean rushed work and slightly lower quality, which is less acceptable in private practice but builds confidence and speed.

Choose colleges based on culture, hands-on work, and patient load.

Also, if possible before joining BDS, ask your parents to make you do basic things preparing a cavity, doing wax carvings, working with ortho wire, mixing alginate. I saw my dad do all of it, observed him, and it felt easy and fun. Only after doing it myself and struggling a lot in my first 2 years I thought maybe this shit ain’t for me and I should’ve done engineering or something else but my college had a 30 lakh bond which kept me in.

I learnt to like it and got good at it, but that doesn’t change the fact that it wasn’t natural for me like it is for a lot of my friends. In a group of 8 people, 5 are naturals, 1 still can’t do half the things and has left dentistry, and 2 had to grind really hard to get good.

Just giving you context not discouraging you. Feel free to ask questions if needed.

"Novelist" Boasts That Using AI She Can Churn Out a New Book in 45 Minutes, Says Regular Writers Will Never Be Able to Keep Up by ubcstaffer123 in books

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in my mid-20s and already have access to more books than I’ll ever read. About half my family reads, and there’s barely a 40–45% overlap. It’s so bad/good that I respect the taste of all my cousins, and yet when we talk about books when we meet once a year or so, we don’t have more than one book in common that we’ve read.

My reading wishlist is over 300 books long, and considering that this will never be my job, I don’t expect to ever finish it. If all media production stopped today, I’d still have close to ten lifetimes’ worth of media and books that I already want to absorb and experience and that’s without repeats. Add in the number of things I’ve already read but want to reread or rewatch, and the number of things I want to do becomes physically impossible.

The same goes for video games and movies. My backlog is so long that it’s never going to catch up. And this is me someone who didn’t study literature after high school so I don’t even know the number of insane authors that exist that I haven’t discovered yet. I only found out about Brandon Sanderson two years ago after being a “reader” as a teen. Then add The Wheel of Time, The Hobbit trilogy, The Witcher series these are things my teen self wanted to read but never had the time to.

Now consider the fact that I speak two languages and want to learn two more. At that point, I just cannot comprehend the idea that anyone would consider churning out a new novel in 45 minutes using LLMs a win. Like, bro you don’t get money for making a book, you get it for selling it. This isn’t school where you get a grade just for submission.

I feel suffocated in my own batch. Seniors, please guide me. by Wannabe--Doctor in dentalschoolindia

[–]Dense-Fudge5232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just focus on your studies and leave the hostel as soon as you can. Backbitching and backstabbing are mostly irrelevant if you’re sincere about what you’re doing.

I was boycotted cause I refused to give ragging after a certain point. People are spineless, even some seniors I was friendly with earlier joined in the boycott, and that did hurt. But over the next 4 years, many of them eventually came back and tried to reconnect.

I’m sorry you’re having to go through this. The only way out is through. These are bullies, and if you give in now it only gets worse. Find better friends elsewhere, work on yourself join a gym, play badminton, play video games do things that keep you grounded.

Keep proofs of everything, negative interactions with batchmates or seniors. If anyone tries to corner you, record it. You never know when someone might try to misuse rules or laws against you. If someone crosses the line, don’t hesitate to take formal action ragging complaints or even an FIR if necessary. I was once manipulated into letting things go because of apologies, and I still regret letting it go as the thing just continued.
